Reading the comments are hilarious. Tesla is like that perfect neighbor. Handsome guy, kind, does volunteer work, has a great family and is a pillar of the community. As a result everyone in the neighborhood searches their hardest for reasons to hate him simply because he is such a great human being.

I love how Elon sounds like a nervous student presenting in front of a class, I feel that. He keeps it real.
To see this car on stage was electrifying. We placed an order right away. They had a few delays, but in March 2016 we took delivery. The wait was worth the extra options from this night. With Ludicrous the 0 to 60 time went from 4.4 to 3.1 and it came with a 90kw battery.
Still driving it today, totally awesome. Still the best car in production.

He gets lost in the middle of a sentence and many of the things he say make no sense. Like when he starts counting all the benefits of the car and then when a punchline is supposed to come, he just says something irrelevant and you have no idea what he was going on about. Steve knew how to sell a product, Elon doesnt.

Elon Musk isn't one of the best public speakers I've seen, but I'm sold by his car. And that's a good thing.
Well, it's taken 3 years and 6 months but the first few Model X were handed over to their smiling new owners a few minutes ago.
Congrats to Tesla on reaching another automotive milestone. The finished doors are very impressive - but I hope for Tesla's sake they're just as reliable.

The falcon wing doors were originally built by an outside parts provider who had production problems. One of the design problems was Tesla used hydraulics to operate the Falcon wing doors. This made them slow especially in cold weather conditions. Tesla rectified the problem by bringing the Falcon door production in house and redesigning the doors from hydraulic to electric operation. In all honesty the Falcon doors were a production nightmare and never should have been in the design but I'm glad they were. Tesla now has figured them out but admits they never should have included the doors as they were a nightmare to design and build.

The Falcon doors may have driven you and your engineers almost crazy but I and thousands of families are glad you did.
Looking forward to future vehicles to come from the fertile minds of Tesla.

Elon, I am proud of the fact that your business is located in California. I own an electric car, but purchased the French car Renault, which is much more affordable. If the French can produce affordable electric cars, then so can TESLA. Let us see what you come up with in 2015. The cars you build are beautiful but far from the common man.
They've been planning to build an affordable electric car from the very beginning. The Model 3 is slated to release in 2017 for $35,000

PINGPONGROCKSBRAH - If they can mass produce them, then the prices will go down. Many people are not used to the idea yet of an electric car. But they are affordable to operate and do not contribute any pollutants into the air. They also reduce noise.

***** The average price of a new vehicle is $32,000, and the Model 3 is supposed to be $35,000. So, the average person who can afford a new car can afford a Model 3. The charging issue is tricky. Renters who don't have access to an electrical plug where they park will have to charge up somewhere else. Look up charging stations near you using a site like PlugShare. There aren't as many charging stations as gas stations yet, but hopefully more will be built in cities to make charging more convenient.
***** If you have a supercharger nearby, you could just go 2-3 times a week and get it charged while drinking your coffee and reading a book or something. That's what I would do. Think of it like going to get gas.

I really recommend Ashlee Vance's book "Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future". It's a fascinating and inspiring read. I listened to the audiobook, which is delightfully narrated, complete with an impersonation of Elon Musk everytime he's quoted.

It is easy to claim we all have the opportunity to be wealthy when we are young. The older one gets the less options.

I beg to differ. I'd say, he's an excellent speaker. His modesty and his civilised ways do him good as a CEO and a face of the company. Different as he is from Jobs, I'd say, Elon Musk, the late Steve Jobs and Philip Wollen are the best CEOs I know of.
I'm not asking for showmanship that's not what I was talking about. I'm merely speaking on his hesitation and lack of consistency. I guess over time you take the great speaker aspect for granted but like I said he doesn't really have to "sell" anything at this point. It sells itself .

That's cool man.. I'm speaking from a background in human psychology and behavioral studies so to be honest that pretty null and illogical. Speech patterns have absolutely nothing to do with social personality but neurological personality. Understanding ones psychology patterns will tell you if he's cool with you or not.

Elon said at the launch that the Performance Model X would do 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds (22:47). At the time of writing the Model X P100D does 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds. Wow! Under-promise and over-deliver!

As a DIY individual I feel that the CEO actually gets what people want in a vehicle. I appreciate his DIY attitude with going head to head with the other big names in the industry. Apple does presentation in a grand level and unecessary hype for gadgets but Tesla has simple and authentic presentation for a more innovation product. I think they focus more on innovation and technology than a marketing mimic company

This presentation would've been very cool if you added swoosh sound effects to the beginning of each slide. That would resolve the issue of 'dead' silence between them.

hydrogen is a terrible fuel from an engineering stand point as compaired to battery/capacitor storage. it will be derived from oil, it will need an entirely new infrastructure, it will be stored at 10 000 psi so will always be a potential kinetic and subsequently chemical energy bomb and it will leak through the most microscopic gap or crack owing to its very small molecule. also you'll end up paying a similar price per mile at the pump compared to petrol.
There are very few people indeed who travel more than 300 miles in a day, i haven’t travelled more than 300 miles in a day in the last 7 years of driving but if i did have the need and couldnt take a break to charge (it is a very good idea to break your journey after 300 miles, tiredness kills!) then i would buy an efficient diesel.
In my opinion once you have a 150 mile range at 70mph your average speed over any distance will be the same as an internal combustion vehicle, like i say the driver needs to stop even if the car doesn’t!

fried tuna not really. the other batteries are very heavy already. the handling would at most be minimally changed. the bigger problem would be having a very special and exposed part, with also the risk of exposing the high power battery system. that might be too much risk for now, especially now that they're still in the media focus.
With model 3 and the price coming down, more people will start modifying. At some point somebody will probably come up with the addition of an extra battery pack or even a gasoline range extender.
To do this officially though for Tesla right now is a little too risky and not really worth the effort.

2A Model X does 0-60 now in 2.9 sec. with dual motors and the new battery pack.
Wow!! Very impressive vehicle. Absolutely amazing vehicle a quantum leap or two beyond current gasoline powered vehicles. The styling, the performance, the utility simply astounding. I suspect the range is excellent just like the Tesla S. It is amazing and vehicles like this won't always be the 100,000 dolllars or so I think this one is. I would absolutely love to have one of these vehicles.

As a big Tesla fan, the cyber truck event was terrible. And I’m not even talking about the cracked windows. It was way too short and didn’t show all the features of the truck. Real missed opportunity. I think the truck will sell and will be successful, I just wish the presentation had been better.
