Takao Naoi - Caravan reminds me a Shiina Ringo song.
RF Scenery is tier S piano jazz. I have listened that album like a hundred times and still it keeps entertaining me
Some expensive vinyl you have there. Very nice
@@MGermano00 reminds me ocean twelve
I am 61 years old This is the song I was listening to when I was my 20s years old. really nostalgic.
Good taste in music.
You are a classy soul, Mr. Fujimura :)
this is Korea, 70s~80s Japanese music is alway best. ive always surprised that how amazing composing and arrangement skills you guys have. i think it was the best period of far east music culture especially in Japan.
wow Japanese with gaijin language IM so proud of you sire
It's not a song but track (there's no lyrics)...🤣
Japanese Jazz is like Japanese whisky:
Underrated, but very high quality.
Someone understands..
True
TokyoTraveller Typical Japanese, they don’t invent just recreate with style!
@@mr.e0311 :-)
Look at the price/demand of Japanese whisky these days, I don't think they are underrated.
This is how you know jazz is a timeless genre, if it wasn't mentioned it was from the 70's it could have easily been mistaken to something that was made today. Organic sound will never age.
Completely agree with you, love all music and especially jazz and its subgenres, but where do you draw the line between a timeless genre and lack of innovation?
Not agree with you. In fact, if i didn't known that jazz is an old genre, i would automatically think that it is, an old genre. Because now, music, is a little bit flat, without any emotions :/
@@StudioPtnCie popular songs to my ears are just like wanna deafen me out while jazz is like a smoothin' classic café
@@StudioPtnCie Music is whatever the artist wants it to be. You're just listening to the wrong stuff.
@@StudioPtnCie There are a lot of really good musicians today, like alfa mist, floating points, badbadnotgood, sam gendel, sons of kemet or black midi just to name a few, don't be a boomer and keep listening to new stuff
Jazz is like the universal language: once you understand it, everything becomes clear.
"understand"
Interestingly enough, String Theory posits the idea that the universe is made up entirely of strings vibrating at different frequencies, a whole lot like soundwaves. Maybe our entire universe is God playing a jazz album in his house...

Yeah the algorithm used to be bad for me, only occasionally showing something interesting, but now for the last year it was steadily improving and it's the other way around now, only occasional bad stuff and tons of great finds. Thanks to neural networks trained on ton of data, I suppose?
The algorithm is dangerously good now
Guy just playing records. Coolest channel on youtube. Genius.
Yo. You gotta have those right records tho. Can't just be playing some real niche shit that only get you 100 views in 2 years
Until the DMCA kicks in.
@Bravery Macdonald's ...with many other genres as well - there are also many live streams... :-)
btw. seeing bob marley live in 1978 turned me into a reggae fan and reggae musician - i played in several reggae bands, even in a live session dub band - my faves are burning spear, toots and the maytals and (young) horace andy... :-)
in summer i saw a cool band from berlin on a small annual reggae festival some villages away from here - incredible sound, incredible performance, and although it was the last band after three days on sunday, they forced us to DANCE and celebrate, haha...

And here we have one of the many underappreciated examples of how youtube, and the internet at large, can be a beautiful place on occasion.
Good stuff.

OMG. I want to hang out at your cafe'.
I wanna join too
Better yet, hire him to spin or another DJ.
This guy is the real life Kino from Murakami's Men Without Women
I wanna do some artwork for your cafe. And also drink coffee there.
Listening to this makes me think of Cowboy Bebop. See you, space cowboy.
underrated comment!
you’re gonna carry that weight man
I literally listened to all this and watched all of Cowboy Bebop after. Did it before I read comments. lol
I'm here listening to this with my cowboy bebop t-shirt on reading this comment. we have a place on heaven

When whatever created the universe was doing it, this was the soundtrack that was playing in the background.
This video actually came out and was recommended to me when I was in the process of bucking depression and an alcoholism habit that I had picked up over the last few years, and I was using psychedelics to enhance my capacity to do self-reflection and sort of jumpstart the serotonin process in my brain. Listening to this set one night in my dorm during one of those was akin to a religious experience to me. Tripping or not, this is my go-to relaxation vid now. I listened to it again last week and literally started weeping tears of joy as the second song started picking up because it dawned on me that if you really want to become a different person, quite different and all the same all at once, you can. You're only young once, and whether that's in your 20s or your 60s, it's never to late to become who you want to be. I guess I just wanted to say thank you to the DJ for putting this set together and I want you to know that what you do actually really helps people when they're going through a tough time, it did for me at least. Thank you, and please don't ever stop broadening everyone's musical horizons.
Thanks for that, hope youre doing well mate
Well said friend, I’m sure your in the recovery Lane, I totally agree with you, The music inspires your mind xGod Bless 🙏🏻

RUclips algorithm is getting it's recommendations right this time around. NICE! With love from Zambia.
what up ZAMBIA! peace, from New Zealand \m/
One of my best friends is from Zambia!
I don't even like jazz and this just blew my mind...maybe I like jazz now lol
Everybody likes jazz
There are two types of people in this world. Those who like jazz, and those who don't know they like jazz yet.
yes you do!
I would insert a lame 'Bee movie' joke here, but this comment section seems too intelligent for that :D
@@xx-ze2zt What was your joke?
Everyone is talking about Ryo Fukui but that Mabumi Yamaguchi Quartet piece was incredible. 🔥
No doubt. 🔥
Facts though.
My thoughts exactly!
This is when I really started grooving
Damn, Japanese Jazz is pure gold, sending Japan lots of love from Turkey!
This is what Haruki Murakami must've played at his jazz café
Yeah? I thought he was more into western jazz.. I could be wrong though.
@@Renzsu No. You are completely right. But I don't think he played exclusively western jazz. I mean, this is already inspired by western culture by being jazz in the first place
@@MagnusHarvest Anyway, if this was playing in my local cafe it would be a night to remember for sure :)
Murakami had a Jazz Café? :O
@@levvl11 yup :) when he was 20-25 I think
I've got the ryo fukui audiophile pressing and any time I change my set up it's the record I reach to to test it first. Absolutely timeless recording quality and technique, and a total masterpiece of the genre. Imho, Fukui should get as much recognition as other cool-jazz pianists like Brubeck and Evans.
Japanese jazz artists are the some of the most slept-on musicians in the world.
within 20 seconds my mood was fixed, new channel was subscribed and I fell in love with Japanese Jazz
I used to DJ records on the radio back in the early '80s. Watching these turntables work brought it all back.
Phil Ellis I did it in the late 80s. So sad that’s all gone now.
33:36 That perfect timing of the fistpump at the end of the song, after taking a sip of coffee. Genius!
Best Pandemic Work From Home music I have come across. Makes me miss playing at smoky bars though.
I saw Hiroshi on top of the stack and instantly knew this shit was gonna be 🔥
I saw Hiroshi on top and thought this son of a bitch owns this incredible rare and incredible dope record I want so much.
🛎🛎🛎
@@TheArunster its that rare ?
Taki Dante it is
@@TheArunster prices have gone down in Discoggs. It was $200. at one point, now around $65. Not cheap but not the most expensive vinyl. Also, not that rare anymore but super dope record!
I like how you show the LP jackets. These are real people that made something beautiful half a century ago.
@Waxel Punkt. Ever seen logan
I just discovered this today. I'm casting it to my TV and sound system. Thankyou, angels exist after all. What a way to spend the evening. Jazz just always feels like home and this is perfect.
I have never heard Japanese Jazz, this is excellent quality
It's 5am Friday here in New Zealand. Made a cup of coffee, opened RUclips and this popped up. Thanks for opening heaven.
Subscribed. I might just become your biggest fan.
@Aurora Borealis lol.
Your music is chilled enough.
Scenery by Fukui Ryo is hands down my favourite Japanese Jazz album and I was so glad HMV re-released it about two years ago on vinyl, so I could buy my own copy. The original LP is just insanely rare and expensive.
I love how it just feels like your friend showing you his collection of cool vinyls
the way that guy is using his uprite bass on the 3rd track, thats years ahead of its time, very synth like
29:10 this is the greatest jazz in the world.I had to cry when I lisetened to the first one note of the song.
I saw Scenery on the queue up, knew this was gonna be jams
R H oh my god same !!
Music from the 70s is always where I gravitate its the bomb for sure!
Watching him bounce between records like that was more entertaining that I thought it would be.
Love it. So much unheard of music to discover from Japan. Japanese artists always impress me what ever genre they take on they do it really well, they seem to be able to absorb the spirit of the music so well.
Pure gold mines, thank you for these videos good sir!
I saw this pop up on my recommendations, nearly ignored it thinking it was just another guy talking about how much better his vinyl setup is than everyone else's, but then I saw "70s Japanese Jazz" and popped in for a watch, and now I'm an addict. Thank you for this.
These tracks could have been played in the 70's or in 2024, I wouldn't have noticed. Music is ageless, pure bliss :)
I was listening to this whilst studying when I noticed tears gathering in my eyes when "Im Blind To You" came on; truly one of the most beautiful tunes I have ever heard.
This just makes my ears so happy.
Love it!! thank you for posting this
love this format, nice idea!
What a treasure to have this recommended. Thanks for upload. Subbed!!
I don't know if things will continue like this these days but the Japanese sometimes seem to me that they have that quality of taking something, learning it to accuracy, replicating it and many times surpassing the original. Their eagerness to mimic those who study seems so perfect to me that I think that the teachers or original references feel both proud and fearful of their pupils... I would be afraid to be a teacher in Japan XD XD.
There are such word in japan.
"青は藍より出でて藍よりも青し"
"青取之於藍、而青於藍"
"Although blue dye comes from the indigo plant, it is bluer than indigo."
means
"The pupil has outdone the master"
It is unrivaled joy of the master that the master is surpassed by his disciple.
Agreed! The term I would probably use is "reengineering".... Japanese are good at this. They improve stuff made by other countries to extreme levels. And I always remember they are good at paying attention to details.
whereas the Chinese replicate things but with worse quality
Absolutely excellent. Thank you for putting this together!
Really enjoyed it!! Thank you
I didnt even know i needed this, thank you man. Keep up, CBS is my new favorite youtube show.

What I knew I needed in my playlist but didn’t know where to find it...thank you for posting!!!
I was stationed in Japan in the 70's on the USS Midway. Listen to alot of Jazz coffee shops. Great vinyl setups and displays.
Dope, love the hidden gems from this genre, also Prague rock is hot as well!

I love it! I play it for my middle school students during our science classes...so chill and relaxing - helps them to focus while doing research/writing.
What a great idea. Wish there were teachers like you when I was at school.
Saw this on Saturday but held off from listening to it so it could be the first thing I put on when I got to work on Monday morning. Great way to start the day :)
Incredible stuff. Thank you for sharing and adding the plescent aesthetic
This playlist is golden! so many great artists to check out!
These are some of my favorite samples in modern compositions like jazz day and night.
The first time I played It Could Happen To You on vinyl instead of listening to it on an mp3 player I finally heard the distinct bassline. Kinda gave the song a new dimension for me. Love japanese jazz, and all your mixes in general. You're doing great work!
I adore this. Awesome job. Thanks for sharing! :)
i´m so envious of your collection

LOVE THIS SIMPLE STUFF, amazing music, thanks for posting.
Fantastically curated insight into Japanese Jazz of the seventies! Never heard even one of these tracks, and all were absolutely fantastic. Thanks for this, and keep doing it please! I'm going to download them (yeah, I'm a filthy pirate) and listen to them on my 40ish minute commute to and from work. With your turntables spinning on the LCD panel in my car. Really fantastic!
Loved this format. Got a new sub.
Brilliant!!! Thanks for this set! It was really enjoyable, you are a fabulous curator.
Thank you very much… great music!!
