Lisa Jackson Hi Lisa, I find that just like you, some people around me STILL makes me feels silly collecting rocks and shells. But when I'm wearing the finished products, they seem to always want me to make them one or two....LOL I don't care what they think or say!!! I live in AZ where there is no beaches. I am going to a state in April where I will be at a beach and I'll get some shells to try to do all of this.... Thanks so much Liz for all you show us.
These are beautiful!!! One of my favorite things to do is to make unique jewelry pieces from the sea shell fragments I find on the beach near my home in Florida.
Ive been looking for a channel like yours that will take broken pieces and put them together. They are beautiful examples and thank you! Im looking forward to seeing more of your tutorials.🌊🐠

wow i have subscribed on the other videos im just so taken back how i have been sitting here with the tools trying to find info on shells how to videos and i love the pearls and copper been making alot of things but wanted to incorpoate the shells i have learned so much from you already and the best thing today i found all my beautiful stones collection that i had for at least ten years and thats how i found you today was an incredible day bc i want to sell my jewelery and wow thanks so much for all your incredible videos again :)

i dont normally comment on stuff thats DIY inspired. but with as much time as i've spent shelling i've never really been inspired to sand off the natural weathered look. i bleach it and wipe it down but i've never sanded. I think i might try that when i get back from vacation in a few weeks. i have a ton of shells and i think i just got inspired for my mothers christmas gift this year... where are you from? im sure you said it once before but this is the first video i've seen of yours although i'm bookmarking this so definitely not the last

+Debra T Hi Debra, The unit itself, I use Dremel, Arlec and Dick Smith Rotary Tool. The burr I use varies and it comes with these rotary tools. Cheers, Liz

how did you cut the round shapes out of shells
Thanks for watching Christa. I used a lapidary saw to cut these round shells but one can also use a rotary tool to do this. I have a video (link below) on Cutting and grinding shells. Maybe this will give you some idea. Cheers, Liz

+Debra T Hi Debra, You'll need to get a good quality diamond coated burrs/bit. Most of the bit/burrs that comes with the rotary tool would not last very long or grind very well. Also make sure that you submerge the item you're grinding under water or keep it wet at all times for quicker grinding and also makes your burr last a little longer. Wish you all the very best.
