It's great you selected Warcraft II as I did not think I or III were as good of games. Also very happy to see you included Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds Saga as it was a very fun game. Others I think maybe had a spot in here would include Kohan Ahriman's Gift, Dungeon Keeper and Battlezone.
Seeing Earth 2150 on the list made me think of another old favorite of mine, Dark Reign. I played them around the same time (well, the predecessor to Earth 2150) and really enjoyed the two of them. Thanks for the great list!
Supreme Commander was the first game that I played (or really have played since) that made use of a dual monitor PC setup. I found myself rarely looking over at the world view map but I thought It was cool nonetheless.
I missed the original Rome total war, I was 14 at the time and still tied to console, recently picked up the remaster in a steam sale bundle, it is very good.
One of your best lists IMO Deserts Of Karak still has incredible "unit chatter" and is somewhat underrated. I personally love it just as much as HW1 and 2. Warzone was brilliant too. Any love for Dark Colony?
Ah there is Metal Fatigue. My god it is so fun. Earth 2150 was crazy hard for me as a child tho. You realy have to take a look into Thandor: The Invasion. Sure it only has 1 Faction and is not that tactiacal deep but it has SO MUCH Unit variety. Hard to get running nowadays tho.
I wish Bungie stuck with their RTS games. I remember reading the early prototypes of Halo being RTS but of course changed to FPS. I suppose we did get Halo Wars further down the line. Such a shame PC users had to wait a long time for it.
Warlords Battlecry 3 is just easily the best one here, It's one of my favorite strategy games of all as it just have great features, love the hero systems they are awesome, how you can keep the hero and level it up as long as u want to play it, keep units trough retinue and so on, not to mention all the races the game has which is great. If there is one game id love ti see getting a sequal, or a great remaster, then it's Warlords Battlecry 3. Spellforce 1 was a really great game as welll, had a lot of fun in it, personally I liked Spellforce 1 more than the later ones, I just feel it was better, the gearing/hero systems , the UI and so on. And one mode there that was really cool was the one that had a lot of maps in it, and one main hub, and you could switch between em, unlocking new ones depending on the character level and what you had completed. The later Spellforce games just never caught me the same way Spellforce 1 did.
Lords of the Realm 2 was Total War games before Total War games existed, but with elements Total War still haven't tried playing with. Nothing ever quite like it since.
i actually liked lords of the realm better. it treated the sieges more realistically. if walls had been as ineffective in defense as they are in most video games, no one would have built any.
I’m relatively new to PC gaming, I’m finding that a lot of the older stuff has a rich modding community, but there’s a learning curve. Think you guys could make a primer on mods, not so much a how to as a what and why?
i had just mentioned Warzone2100 couple of days ago glad to see it represented here it is a shame that it was overshadowed by C&C back in the days.. could have been a really popular one with possible continuations... sadly studio went bancrupt so we will never truly get one Another Gem for me in my Childhood was Dune 2000 another great game that was overshadowed by C&C
Oof remember reading the Warzone 2100 PC Gamer article over and over again and played the demo that came with the magazine CD, but sadly they never sold it at the local computer store and didn't have internet access back in the day. So sad I missed out on that one. Spellforce Campaign is amazing, it's so good narrative and fun combination of RTS and RPG that feels natural, loved that game, not that big a fan of the sequels tho, don't know why but they never connected the same way.
You got me interested in SId Meirs Gettysburg. I never put time on it cause it looked intimidating. Warcraft 2 is the best in the series. Naval sieges and easy to make maps unlike Warcraft 3
earth 2150 was great. loosing a mission did not mean loosing a campaign. however warzone 2100 is also a true gem. even more customization for units. also predates earth 2150 oh wait you mentioned both of them also in warzone 2100 you can recycle units and next unit that you build will get the same experience as recycle one
I got a flying machine! EDIT: as you mentioned recommendations.... the original Medieval Total War maybe? It was a somewhat different experience from all the other TW games that came after....
Earth 2150 was such a shame! I must have owned three different versions of it over the years and there was always some kind of problem that either made it crash, not run at all or have a massive amount of graphics glitches. I have never had as many issues with any game at such a basic level. When I eventually got it to run more recently what killed my interest quickly was how extremely slow production was. And once your turn up speed everything just looks wrong... Hmm, now I want to give it another try ;)
Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds didn't review well on release and in many ways this was deserved. It felt lazy and having X-wings just floating around when not in combat didn't feel very 'Star Wars' at all.
You guys are the only channel I found that talk about actually obscure, unique, real hidden gems!
Thanks man, much appreciated - Tom

Great shout and actually on the other list I mentioned in the intro
Supreme Commander was the first game that I played (or really have played since) that made use of a dual monitor PC setup. I found myself rarely looking over at the world view map but I thought It was cool nonetheless.
Agreed it really delivered scope and scale like nothing before. Thanks for watching mate! - Tom

Thanks man, much appreciated! I haven't play it still 😅 on the to do list!! - Tom
@@LTGamingRUclips Oh man, you need to - what a classic.
Metal Fatigue. A great game. I could also recommend The Tone Rebellion and its stellar soundtrack.
I had forgotten all about Earth 2150... I used to love that game back in the day!
It's a great one! - Tom
with modern engine this could nbe so great
Oh, my childhood memories. These are my favourites.
Nice to be back after a small break!hope everyone enjoys!
You could also check out Gates of Pyre which has an awesome lore and graphic in my opinion.

This is a top list! However I more like "new age" RTS games such as SC2 and WC3. Even IGP looks dope

Yep both stellar games. I completely related to your point on Spellforce, never got as hooked again with that series - Tom
Great list, Battle For Middle Earth looks interesting to me. Thanks!
BFME I and II are great! - Tom

Amazing list, enjoyed the in-depth takes on a bunch of games I have never played 😅 I would add Dark Colony
Glad you enjoyed! And yes many many have suggested Dark Colony - Tom

I am looking at a best Modded Classic RTS list - Tom

Great list. Forgot how pretty Deserts of Kharak is.
It is a great game and yes, holding up well!
Brilliant stuff

Warlords battlecry is still my favorite game today!
Was kinda expecting KKnD 2: Krossfire and Tzar burden of the crown on this list :D
Love KKND! I put it on my first list a few weeks back Top 20 forgotten RTS game. I will check out Tzar!

And Dark Colony as well...
I love the base building in that game and the unit designs were really cool.
I still need to play it 😅
@@Grandmastergav86
Indeed.
Such an unique game.
@@LTGamingRUclips
I am already playing it.
Those Obnoxious Aliens don't know when to give up...

Wholeheartedly agree on Warcraft 2 👍 Give Gettysburg a shot for sure!
Appreciate the video gents and again for reminding me I'm pushing 40 👌
haha yes the cost of experiencing these gems 😅 - Tom
🤩👌👌👍👍👍👍👍👍
A very, VERY big YES for Kharak!
And every time I play Mechabellum, it reminds me of Metal Fatigue.
Cheers!
It is a superb game! I love Mechabellum too! - Tom
Whats the game showing as 0:12? Looks interesting. It reminds me pretty strongly of an old SNES game called Metal Marines heh.
Heroes of Annihilated Empires

hahah I love the WC2 quotes!
Great suggestion, I am looking at it for another list 😁
hegemony I and III are fun too.
Myth...One of the best.
Nice list!
Is it still possible to find Warcraft 2?
GOG sells the best version for super cheap :)
Can you please fix the missing : error in the timestamp for the second last title in the description?
Can you still get the battle for middle earth games anywhere?

BFME and BFME II were fantastic. Sadly, they're unplayable because EA's rights expired and the games are unobtainable without torrent clients.
There are fantastic indeed! 😭😭😭😭
Earth 2150, 2160, and 2170 never caught the eye Me thinks
sadly 2170 never happend
I got Homeworld Deserts of Kharak for free in the epic game 2 or 3 months ago. it was a give away for anyone who wanted it.
Yep I have gotten a few great games this way.
Anyone looking into new RTS games like Gates of Pyre, Age of Mythology and the likes?
I made an upcoming RTS list recently, check that out. -Tom
@@LTGamingRUclips Will sure do

i wanted to say Rise of nations, but that seems a bit too actual comparing your suggestions
Nice work chaps… good to see the output back on the rise 🙏🏻🐸🎉🐌❤️🇩🇰
Agree with that, I put it on my other list I made recently "Forgotten RTS gems" - Tom
how da faq is homeworld deserts a classic...?!
You left out dune
Damn im getting old..
