This was the only knot that genuniely helped me tie my shoes, and I'm 14! Now, I did have to slow the video down to 0.5, and it took me a few tries, but I've mastered it already! Thank you!
Oh my goodness, this is perfect! My grandson is having horrible trouble with his laces coming undone. He can double knot it, but then it’s really hard to take apart. This looks like a double knot, but it can be pulled right apart. Perfect!
Glad you liked it. The hardest part for kids is often making the loops - not too big and not too small. You can help him out once he finds the correct length of loop by taking a sharpie and where he pinches the lace together mark two dots one right on top of another. Do this for both laces (total of four marks). Then the next time he ties the knot all he has to do is put the two dots together on each lace and the size of the loop will be the same every time and he won’t have to guess how big to make them.
OH MY GOD THANK YOU!!!!!!!! I have no idea why but I haven't been able to listen correctly to what people say to do when tieing shoes, this tutorial has been the only one that has been able to teach me, I think it's the fact that the shoelaces are different colors which makes it easier to know which lace they are talking about. I leave this comment with pride that I know how to tie my shoes!
I have a pair of shoes with laces that always undo if not double knotted. This makes them hard to untie. I tried your method, which worked perfectly. Thank you for the tip.
Fantastic. I think the traditional way of tying shoelaces, though unreliable, is just good enough that most people won't look for a better alternative. It is that way with a lot of things in life. I like to think of myself as the Johnny Appleseed of shoelaces, traveling the land and sharing my knowledge. Thanks for your comment!
I'm guessing that shoelaces coming undone completely and shoelaces loosening a little can both be fixed by this lacing method? I have the loosening problem with my dance shoes and have to tighten them every chance I get - even if I use double knots. Will definitely try this method, thank you!
OMG you are the first person to help me actually even make a knot or tie thanks you so much this was so hard after the pain practice Ing so much bro thank you
@@aysharoig7977 That's great! Remember you can use this knot to tie up all sorts of things like packages too. The traditional shoelace knot is an example of something that works just 'well enough' most of the time that people don't look for something better.
Love it! A woman we know goes to Chicago each year for the marathon and puts a drop of Super Glue on her laces to keep them tied (cuts out the laces afterwards) but I think I like this better!
Running is exactly the target audience I had in mind, though everyone should really use this knot. It is amazing how many people go to the hospital due to tripping over their shoelaces. Thanks and please share this video with her!
Thank you very much! My motorcycle shoes have laces and sometimes they get untied, which can be very dangerous if the lace gets caught in the chain. Do you also happen to have a video on how to tie a noose?
I switched to this knot a few years ago, and I've been using it exclusively ever since. Once I have tied the knot, it stays tied until I untie it. It has never come undone. Not once.
If you're talking about tying a regular knot and then another overhand knot on top of it, it will last a little longer before coming undone. But not nearly as long the Secure Knot. One good knot is always better than 2 bad knots.
Thanks, It's helps me in 2024
you are awesome, thanks mate you just saved me from wasting too much time
Incredibly, you're the first and only person on RUclips who thought to use differently coloured laces to better show what's going on. Thanks.
Here I am hoping for a link for two colored laces...
Yes bro
Exactly! This definitely helps to know where and which knots to tie
I love it🎉😁🤩👍🏿🦾🦾🫵🏽
Thanks
It’s NOT WOrKInG BiTCh
I am so happy that I learned how to tie my shoes today since noone ever cared to teach me.
Thank you, truly.

That's great! You can use this knot for all sorts of other things besides shoes too! Once you get the muscle memory it's easy.
Iam 12, 13 in october and FINALLY iv’e learned to tie shoelaces!!!!!
Great! Glad to help.

I'm 35, and it never before occurred to me to wrap the loops 3 times instead of 2 🤦♂️

This is a better demonstration than the one by the person who has named this knot after himself!
those 2 colored laces are awsome for learning thank you!!!!

Glad to hear it!
Great knot! I spend so much time tying laces my boss says to put it on my timesheet!
Knot anymore. Glad you liked it.
This is also one of the more pleasing looking knot!

Thank you. Saved my life.
I watched this video and have been applying it for about 2 years now, and I've never had a string come loose.

Yes this will help. If you can use wide cotton laces which are less slippery that will be even better.
I still triying and i didibt learn yet😂😂😢
Why is hard for me!!
I LEARNED 5 METHODS NOW THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUZZ
Man thank you
thank you :]

Hello

Really? I use rubber bands while playing basketball. Super Glue seems kinda over the top lol

Gracias aprendi a atarme los cordones
tysm im 13 and i couldnt tie shoelaces before this video ❤❤

Try Jason's Knot Channel. Glad to help.
50 years later I learned lol
Thank you for helping me 😊😊
Like half berloti knot.
Ty lol I've been struggling trying to tie an knot for 2 hours
It takes awhile to build the muscle memory. But once you get it, it is easy.

Great! I think this ought to be the knot everyone is taught as a child.
Dint work
Onak sondor hoacha
Thanks mate
But this isn't ian knot this is double loop knot
.
It’s Ian secure knot, not Ian knot
Thanks
Thx
What's wrong with the much faster and secure standard bow using a double loop around the bows?
If you're talking about tying a regular knot and then another overhand knot on top of it, it will last a little longer before coming undone. But not nearly as long the Secure Knot. One good knot is always better than 2 bad knots.

Thanks man
I’ve seen this called the Berlutti knot
Similar, but that knot has one end coming out through the double roll in front of the knot. See www.fieggen.com/shoelace/berluti-knot.htm .
Berluti loves to exaggerate its greatness.

It doesn't work I've been trying to tie my shoes for years
Take your time. It just takes practice.
… how?!
Oh do me a favour, who's got the time to do this?
Great! I've just tried it.
Thanks! 👍
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching and pass it on!
