I’ve been really poor about taking sleep seriously all thru my 20s and early 30s. Prioritizing sleep has helped in tremendous ways and now I can start to even think about priorities, motivation, focus, etc. This video is helpful for my next steps!
That tip about starting the difficult task in the morning is very useful. I tend to procrastinate during the morning, then after lunch I feel sleepy which makes me lose valuable time. It’s all about using your physical and psychological energy on your side
Really Glad I Came Across Your Space. Day To Day Is Working For Me. Feeling Productive When I Do. There Are Times When I Want To Drift Off 🤔. However, When My Subconscious Kick In..... I'm Getting It Done. You Are Appreciated
I prayed, "God help me organize and focus" and went to youtube and your excellent video was found. It was relative to my mind being overwhelmed with task; the difficulty of fitting my abstract sense into templates, and most of "creating momentum." Now I will try it. So, thanks and God bless you for sharing to help folks like me with conquering tasks. Oh yeah, 👍 and I subscribed.
I like this video’s focus on process over PRODUCTIvity. I almost always know where I want to be, getting the momentum is the challenge. Thanks for sharing the simple, practical tips.
BRO, THANK U. the advice of the daily block schedule was mindblowing for me, it is really simple but I have had years of struggle with the hourly block schedule
You are right, Mindmapping is the most efficient way to figure out scripts. most of the platforms like Notion or even any word doc run linear and it blocks related ideas and end up blocking the mind too. I too use mindmap the most. Cheers to that.
Loved the tip about creating momentum when tackling overwhelming tasks. I am always procrastinating because of overwhelm. So the momentum tip is gold😍👌👌
Love the video. I agree with the mind mapping. What I recently started to do is a take a small notebook and handwrite random stuff. Later I will go through the notes and organize them digitally, but getting off all devices and just writing is amazing. I think by not feeling like I need to type, there is something just so powerful about it that helps me. Since moving to Seattle two months ago, I have been struggling with my morning because I have this FOMO of being behind since so many people are working when I am still sleeping. Inherently my phone time has shot up in the morning. This video helped me want to focus on this aspect of my morning. Thanks for the great videos.
Wow I can relate to everything you said. That feeling of being behind can be real in the morning so it’s always a constant battle to not be distracted. Keep doing you!
I do the same thing with blocking my days not my hours/minutes. Made a huge difference in terms of being easier on myself and not freaking out when things don’t get done. Oddly, it made me more productive.
Same here. Literally the exact thing that happened to me. Whenever I couldn’t follow my hour block schedule I’d feel bad but I was just putting unnecessary stress of myself
thanks for the motivation to try mind maps again. never quite got into it but i like that it's basically the opposite of notion which was too. much. lists. love how everything you do basically sets urself up for success. less friction, more momentum. great vids keep em coming!
OMG. This is so helpful. I struggle with starting things as well, and I never really thought of trying the mind mapping method. Will start applying these things to my workflow starting today, and hopefully it works for me too! :D
Just found your channel, will watch now more from you. BUT one question can you tell me your workflow for the over layers you do, I guess it's with the iPad but what app u use and how. Thank you so much and have a great day.
This is really good, i just found focus modes on my phone and thought it was interesting but hadn't figured out how I would use it this sorts that out!!!
i use this stuff in milanote when i'm kicking video ideas around. idk if you're using that for any sort of post organization but maybe start a thread on everyone's custom boards that they've made their own templates for. sometimes seeing other ppl's organization aesthetics can inspire new ones
@@edwardleefilms i was harassing them a few months back about filmmaking templates but they did go and add a ton of stuff for shot lists and storyboards. so i redid my own templates taking pieces that worked. i was using notion, but switched to the paid milanote and it really helps out with preproduction esp with really anal clients. lots to work with in there. i have all my podcast, youtube, ig, and production company stuff all in there. even used it for the van build when we did our mobile office. saved a ton of time and i liked using the brainstorming boards in there
Thank you for making this video! I found the information helpful especially when you simplified mind mapping. I had a topic in my head and was able to break it down easily. 🤯 Like you, I failed at doing hourly time blocking…multiple times till I gave up and realized that it’s not for me. I was comforted in knowing I’m not the only one that struggled with it. I’ll be checking out your other videos and be subscribing!
Subscriber here. It’s our way of saying thanks for your wisdom. Honestly, you are definitely a creative genius. Honestly, great work and absolutely love your cinematography. Feels like a great motivational and mentorship channel. I appreciate productivity and essential quality of life hacks. There is always space in my time for people that invest in making the world a better place. Probably rambling on far too long. But needed this video. Thanks a ton. Keep doing what your doing. Your time and work here is so valuable and unprecedented in its universal appeal.
I'm going to try mind mapping because a blank page does tend to overwhelm me at times 🙂"Create momentum" is going to be my new motto. Thank you so much for this useful and practical video, Edward! New subbie 🙂
I really appreciated this video and I'm going to watch it again at least once or twice more until I can get this idea in my head! I've been feeling a little bit of brainfog the last couple of days and I need to get back on track. But thank you so much for sharing this information with us!
Stumbled across one of your Instagram reels which lead to this video. Can’t tell you how grateful I am of your tips and advice Edward, thanks for sharing! My photography business and personal life has taken a toll and I feel like it boils down to staying more focused, organized and optimistic. I’ll be implementing these methods into my life. You got a fan / subscriber 💯
i've been struggling with micro time blocking, cuz there are a lot of important and hard task to finish. Once i know i need to get those things done in exact time, i ended up procastinate. Thankfully, now i know i'm not the only one doing that thing, maybe i can try timeblock by day like you did. So, thank you Edward Lee, +1 subscribe! can't wait to see your next content
I think you might have just saved me from this downhill trend ive been going on. Lately ive been scheduling my days like you said at 4:10 about the hourly schedule and id always get mad at myself when i didnt finish an assignment in that certain time. Now I'm going to divide up my schedule the way you explained at 4:52. Thanks again
Love this type of videos man. I totally agree on creating momentum for difficult tasks by breaking them down into smaller, bite-size tasks - that way you won't get intimidated and just procrastinate. Wish you the best on your business, and keep the videos coming man. Cheers
Great and inspiring video. Your thoughts on momentum make so much sense. I am going to use this idea straight away. I enjoy your channel and you give such good constructive advice. Looking forward to more content like this as well as your office and work set up content. Keep the great quality content coming. Thank you.
I actually start using the work focus mode this week, which really makes me more concentrated…and I’ve been procrastinating for some complicated work tasks recently… thanks for the tip and gonna kill it !! Hahaa
Great video brother! excited to see you back on youtube. I think one thing always helps me with planning my week is doing a weekly review to see where and what I did well on and what I didn't, then make plan accordingly next time.
Nice to see you back here again! Great video! I started recently with a power hour. When I start working, I use the first hour (sometimes two - depends) on the tasks, that I really don't like. Can't say something about results just yet, but maybe somebody else can.
Great video. Momentum does work. I have myself followed it. Also can you make a video on your calendar tips. It was good. Calendar never work for me. How do you organise Calendar? Do you put all task on it (similar to todo list) or specific task. Would love your input on it.
Ed, I just came across your video, really helpful. You’re right momentum is the key to begin with, paralysis is probably more of a barrier than getting something right or wrong. Any way, loved the video, & have subbed to follow your journey. Would love to connect a bit more in the future.
I really agree with a lot of your struggles they are very real I face the same things. however reading hyperfocus by chris bailey has given me a broader understanding of things. give it a read when you have some free time it will definitely help you unlock more.

Glad to be back with another video! What are some other productivity/mental organization tricks that help you stay focused?
@steven wadley this is so true. If you don’t truly love what you’re doing it’ll always be hard to stay focused on it
