magic is honestly just nuts in small scale. The bound anti-air vortex spell on von carstein bloodline lords literally does enough damage to one shot most enemy flyers on small scale, including LLs.

I like making friends with dwarves, trade money, protected flank, beating up greenskins now also helps diplomacy, sometimes even helps befriend bretonnia if they meet.
Taking over the empire with vampiric corruption revolts never gets old.
Also I like starting with isabella and using freshly recruited Vlad as ambush bait the added weapon strength on vampires really helps remove mannfred
I tried this playthrough this weekend because ive always felt like Vampire Counts have been incredibly boring as a faction and oh my god battles last like 2 seconds before everyone is routing its amazing lmao
Whenever I’m rating my own battles unless I use the post battle to chase the enemy down with cavalry I usually base it pretty heavily on how much of the enemy is routed off the field vs killed. If I’m killing more than I’m routing I’m probably not taking enough advantage of moral penalties and playing sub optimally.
On an alternative note bats are AMAZING at routing units off the field. I’m on ultra unit scale and ever battle the god damn bats will usually get 150+ each. Vlad himself usually is getting like 5+ the enemy lord.

The true strat for Vlad early game is to recruit a few more vargheists, recruit Isabella and put all ur vampire heroes in her army. Declare war on Mannfred and kick him out of your castle early. At this point if you sack his last remaining settlement there’s (based on RNG) being able to sue for peace and a confederation. Unless you are trying to cheese the AI growth mechanics there’s no reason to let Mannfred have the best town in Sylvania because Vlad is dad

oh boy, just wait for the dlc... the warhawk riders are getting the volley of kurnous, glade captains are being added (hybrid ranged/anti large) and the twins should be an extremely powerful ranged unit (should be much better than alith anar and they get a dragon)

I find that the Loremaster trait's much more useful for research purposes. It also reduces building costs for a province you control so long as a hero (or lord) has that trait and is in that province.

@@gamingrambles Chances are randomized. Like I said, you can find it on all lords and heroes. In fact, the master necromancer who was about to be recruited at 0:18 was right below a guy who had the trait.
Slayers vs vc just hurts because the best way to kill slayers is ranged and vc has two ranged units in total

Alternatively to having Mannfred as an ally, you can attack him at turn 3 with Vlad, Isabella, 5x Vargheists and the rest in skelis and zombies, Taking Drakenhof at turn 3 is a huge financial boost, it's literally a gold mine. You can destroy his faction by turn 5, then do the same to Tempelhof. It also gives you nice diplomacy bonus with all surrounding factions.
Pros: money money money
Cons: No Mannfred, no Ghorst, and you will have to leave an army in Drakenhof in order to not tempt the dwarves into attacking you
See...the problem with that Idea is I'm a dirty sl&$ for confederating other legendary lords...I just can't resist

I've never played this game so I have no idea what happened
but I liked it
I feel like the lords would be a bit more 'realistic' (as much as you can expect from this genre) where you really have to keep them safe from assassination attempts.
They would still be powerful but you couldn't have them facetank half an army while your artillery rains death on them.

Just a few monsters, a few armies, and onehit every enemy army, blitz all enemy cities. Also, use low tier units and then you do not need to build up an infrastructure.
Meanwhile in Lustria, Skaven turning the frickin frogs gay!
How can you cheese against Drycha as VC though?
Pretty easily. He's on Small unit scale, so Treemen have their health nerfed enough for Spirit Leech, and both sides having Vanguard gets any archers tied up within seconds.
