Copenhagen Fields is an absolute delight. One of the finest models ever created on these shores. Thank for shining a light on these amazingly talented people.
I like his comment about turning 18 and the trains taking a backseat for awhile. A old hobby friend of mine once told me that “From the driver’s license to the marriage license the model trains go away.”
I remember their exhibitions many years ago. they had the big live steam layout which had to be rebuilt every time. My fave place to watch it was by the small terminus station where they had the tube train, which had a habit of derailing
For some reason the steam Locos relax me as they make their way around the track, especially with today's digital sound effects and lights. It reminds me of a more peaceful era.🙂
I visited that Club when I lived in London, I found that it was only around the corner from my work, so on the night they meet, I went along. It was very interesting.
I didn't know this place existed and it isn't far from where I work. For the critics something that isn't also said is a hobby such as this builds up lots of other skills such as electronics and wiring, woodworking and painting skills. All of these can be applied elsewhere.
Interesting but now go the the world's oldest model engineering society, The Society of Model and Experimental Engineers who are celebrating their 125th this year.
It's not totally male and some ofthe best modellers are female. The point is that generally speaking men and women have different interests. Women like hand bags and shoes but most men don't so I could say why is it part of the female psyche? Because it is. I live by a lake just about all the boat owners are male, yer there is nothing to stop a woman buying a boat.
Yeah, shame! From what we could tell it's a very welcoming place - hopefully some people will see the vid and be inspired to go check it out/join themselves.
@@goughrmp it says men use hobbies like this to fill up the gaps in their lives. Women don't (generally) have the same need because they have more important stuff to be getting on with. If only we could harness this energy and creativeness for the greater good of humanity, instead of just playing with toys. Or, to put it more succinctly, men don't grow up. (Because they don't have to - they always have women looking after them.)
@@paulhaynes8045 'just playing with toys'. You sound miserable. It's an art form in and of itself, and time out of work is incredibly important. Are you suggesting that people shouldn't have hobbies or free time to do what they like? I would also bet a fair amount that the people who do this type of hobby also carry out very fulfilling and fruitful careers outside of this, in engineering, manufacturing or perhaps academia. It seems intellectually stimulating and sociable as an enterprise, and is far more productive than the vast majority of jobs that exist in the modern economy....
@@Robo94100 playing with toys is still what it is though. Very clever toys that take a lot of effort and talent, but still just toys. Think what that effort, money and talent could do if put to better use.
Ok but us going RC control battery powered have no fellows . I dont need metal electric track and all that electronic mumbo jumbo Make my own flexi track / lollipop sticks.. Is there anyone else out there

But will they include little figures of the characters from the film the Lady Killers where the villains all die, which was filmed there?
@@chrisstephens6673 Don't worry, they did include them.
indeed - we saw it at Bristol and we were well impressed.
What a lovely-seeming bunch they are!

Ahhhh...
I can breathe again now that there's a new Londonist. I appreciate that you're easing yourselves back in so keep on truckin and thanks.
Never stop producing wonderful videos like this!
You ❤ London & we ❤️ Londonist :)
Thank you!
I'm so honoured to be a proud member! Thank you!
Wow Londonist is back!
I remember their exhibitions many years ago. they had the big live steam layout which had to be rebuilt every time. My fave place to watch it was by the small terminus station where they had the tube train, which had a habit of derailing
It's a friendly club - and visitors are welcome Thursdays from 7
For some reason the steam Locos relax me as they make their way around the track, especially with today's digital sound effects and lights. It reminds me of a more peaceful era.🙂
I could have watched and listened to this video for quite a bit longer than it's run-time! Lovely :)
This put a smile on my face
An excellent video. Presented this wonderful bunch of enthusiasts in a very respectful way. Good job jobbed. Keep 'em coming!
There's much to be said for a spot of tiny train joys of a Thursday evening.
Enjoyed your latest video and liked thanks for sharing.

It’s so nice to see you back on RUclips. I do like model railways and been to couple of them when I was quite young.
How wonderful 👍

So amazing
Me encanta esas bocas de túneles reproducídas. semejantes a las que salen en la pelicula the ladykillers .siempre me fascinó la trinchera con tuneles

And they are in London.
this is cool
Nice video ! Are you going to do a new video about the underground soon ?
Seconded
Excelent
From what I saw they have a nice layout. It's just too bad I don't have any of my trains running on their very own layout as well.
I go here ❤
Londonist is back!
I apologize for saying it but the guy with the long hair in the blue top is really handsome
What is it about the male psyche that makes these things almost completely the domain of men?
Playing God. As one member said, (02:45) "I can't think of a better way of making the world go away."

No Tony, you are not a 'chair' you are a chairman. A chair is an inanimate object. Let's not go for all that nonsense, please.
XD
80s? Mine started in the 70s so no, it's not the oldest
The Club is the oldest - not the layout.
WARNING: IMMATURE COMMENT
Cox? Dick’s Bar? Weiner?
Grow up

What does it say? Curious
