Not a 'before they were famous', and only relevent to people in UK and Ireland, but I was painting a fence for a customer in a posh area near Blackpool, when who comes walking over from the house across the street? Roy Walker (Catchphrase), bright Hawaiian shirt, cargo shorts, flip-flops, a massive warm smile and a tray full of drinks, biscuits, cakes, allsorts.
Just a fucking lovely guy, non of it is an act, he is literally THAT nice. Bless him.

A lot of my family and friends personally know Pharrell Williams. My dad and uncle used to play with him back when they were in elementary school, though my uncle was closer to him. Also, my OTHER uncle from a different part of my family was friends with him in middle school and some of high school. My little brother got to meet him in person a little while back. Also, my friend is his second cousin. He's a very nice person, and very humble. He wears shorts, tees, and reflective sunglasses😎

I met Patrick Warburton years ago at a high school reunion. He came as a plus one of an acquaintance. Nice guy, very personable.
Also had Gwen Stefani's cousin as a real estate agent in the mid 2000's. He said she hasn't changed much personality-wise but didn't attend many family functions anymore because she wanted to keep the paparazzi away from them. Felt sorry to hear that...
Y'all are lucky. My closest encounter with a famous person was my sister's dating that kid from Horns for a while. He was pretty quiet and shy, so I didn't talk to him much, but he called my sister a lot to serenade her with lullabies from Adventure Time.

My mother was in the same theatre club in her college as this stage actor who wasn’t a household name but went on to do some pretty decent roles. One time we were watching Law and Order SVU, (the episode where Olivia Benson has to deal with a sociopathic rapist who ends up kidnapping her and she then beats the shit out of him) My mom took one look at him and was like “Oh my God, I went to college with that dude, he even played the Emcee in our university’s production of Cabaret.

I was classmates with the nephew of Edgar Vivar the priest on the movie the orphan but latinamericans might remember him as Señor Barriga in el Chavo del 8. Never met him personally but during his filming he was in the US most of the time but regularly came to visit him and bring him the new BIONICLE sets that my friend and I were huge fans
My husband went to school with Zack Galafanakis but was two years ahead and friends with his brother. They called Zack "the annoying little shit". Now when Zack comes home he doesn't want to be treated like a star or asked for autographs and stuff. He just wants to enjoy the small town and relax.
I also did community theatre. I met and worked with a wonderful old fellow named Clay Cory. He grew up around the Broadway and movie stars. He was very close to an actress Tallulah Bankhead when he was young. He called her Aunt Tallulah. He was wonderful to work with. I directed him in two shows. He performed "The Fantastics" musical in New York and then again for me in Wilkes County, NC. He also did "The Last Night Of Ballyhoo" for me and kindly allowed me to use The tea service from "Breakfast At Tiffany's" and an original print of the building of the Golden Gate Bridge as set dressing for the show. Freaked me out big time having such valuable memorabilia on my small town community theatre stage. Bless him I miss him.
My husband also does all the jewelry cleaning and repair for Mrs. Flossie Johnson, the divorced and now widow of famed NASCAR racer and moonshine runner Junior Johnson. Wilkes County is a small community but we have an abundance of talented people from here.😀

I ran a relay with Jessica Ennis when she was 17 and I was a lot younger, I think it was the 2009 world championships and there were some kid activités. I just remember her incredible electric blue running spikes! Bumped into her several times throughout the years after she became well known and she’s lovely!

I just find it kind of cool. I may come back to this one day and be like "oh, yeah, she's pretty famous now and I knew her,"

@@luitaurus Well, nothing yet. She has been in a few freelance movies since making the comment and has gotten awards for New York Fashion Week and stuff. She travels often all over the world. She's not famous yet, though. I did find out that she knows the guy who plays Dez from Austin and Ally though.

I have this sort of thing on a much smaller scale. My uncle is the pastor of our church and his 3rd and 4th oldest sons are the drummer and lead singers respectively in a band which doubles as the worship team for the small church they founded as a plant of our main one, with the 2nd oldest as their pastor. His younger kids are all girls adopted from Asia, one of whom is a rising star in local basketball and another of whom is a truly amazing artist. Most people who have been at the church for a long time (especially before I started working almost every sunday morning and basically had to stop coming) just think of me as [pastor's name]'s nephew or [mom]'s son. But, whenever someone fairly new finds out that I'm related to the head honcho, they think it's some amazing awesome thing and look at me with reverence, because... ?
Had a family friend a few years ago (don’t remember his name honestly) and he was over for dinner and we were just talking about interests which led to movies and turns out his sister played Bree Tanner in the Twilight movies

Had a friend who said he was talking with Uncle over the phone. Apparently his uncle's roommate was a Voice Actor but couldn't remember what show. Roommate literally screamed "Booyah!" And my friend heard it over the phone. Instantly recognized him as Cyborg 😂
My brother met Hopsin and Banks. He said all that changed is they became way more generous. Especially Kevin because he would give Kevin weed, my brother also has pictures backstage at a Green day concert. Turns out he's my cousin.

Old video, and not some major worldwide celebrity, but here in Israel there's a really famous singer named Shir Hadad. My mom happened to be in the same youth singing group when they were teens. My seriously hates her.
First, she was apparently a really 'head-in-the-clouds' spacey type, but was also pretty dumb. She had a beautiful voice, but couldn't follow instructions or cues for the life of her.
Second, she was apparently really clingy to people, especially to my mom's friend group. She practically stalked them whenever they got off practice, or constantly tried to insert herself in their group, despite her making everyone clearly uncomfortable. She kinda ended up like the groups puppy that wouldn't leave them alone.
Third, and this was the thing that made my mom REALLY hate her; while near the end of their time in the singing group, Shir was dating this guy that ran a small time recording studio that did business with some record companies. This guy was also a mutual friend of my mom's. The entire time she was dating this guy, she was trying to convince him to help her record, that they could be partners and "how far they could go together". This guy really loved her, but it was obvious she was just using him to jumpstart her career. As my mom's friend, he also offered my mom the same thing and to help her get started, but my mom refused and and straight up told the guy Shir was just using him. He got upset with her for that, but they stayed mutuals.
Well, about two years later when Shir finally gets a deal with a big record company, she dumps the guy and completely denies even knowing him, let alone the fact that he was the only reason she had a career at all.
Td;dr : Just a huge bitch

I went to church and later high school with track and field-sprinter, Tyson Gay. We knew each other but we weren't exactly friends (we didn't hate each other either though). The guy was a cut-up.
#FEATUREME I just moved to a new school and we had a roundup. I moved from Michigan to Cali. At the school round up I went to the asst. principles office to meet her. It turns out that she had just moved to California to from Michigan the same as me. We got talking and I told her where I lived previously and she said that she's been to that place many times. She said that she and a former teacher at my old school are best friends. It turns out that when my mom was in school there that teacher was her favorite teacher.

My grade 3 teacher was in the same class as Justin Bieber in middle school she said she never really payed attention to him as he was younger (they were in a 6/7 split) so she was never really friends with the guy I think all of us could tell she had a huge crush on him but thinking back on it I'm not sure if it's because he is famous now
