I was probably the accidental target of an employees revenge, since me and some asshole had the same order...took a bite into my burger and pulled it away with 5 strands of hair connecting the burger to the bite i just took.
It looked like some fucked up musical instrument from hell.
It took me nearly a year to get back into eating burgers, i didnt follow up on it cause whilst his shot missed, i respected his tenacity for revenge at the risk of his reputation.

I was at a Sonic drive in when it was really busy. I ordered a cheese burger, after about 35 minutes I got a chicken sandwich. I patiently and politely told them it was wrong. They took it back. A random customer walked up to the door of the building (which is pretty much all kitchen since Sonic is a drive in) and screamed at the top of his lungs "what the fuck y'all doin' in here!?! We been waitin' half an hour for our shit! Y'all know how to fuckin' cook or not!? Y'all needa get my fuckin' food ready right fuckin' now!!" Then he stormed off to his car. When I got my burger the buns were fucking charcoal. Scorched completely black on both sides. That was my lunch hour, and I recieved the cook's wrath that was intended for the asshole a few spots over lol. Haven't been back to that particular sonic in over a year. Not worth it, healthier options are a walk next door anyway lol.

I have only ever been less than polite to servers when they are rude and stupid to me first. I was left waiting in my car, at the service window of the drive thru, while she waved my food bag and chatted to her workmate for 5 minutes. Not exaggerating, I was watching on my dashboard clock. I actually spoke to my front seat passenger, saying to him "why doesn't she just shut the F up and give me the bloody food!" not realising my window was wide open and she heard me. Not sorry. Maybe fast food workers are different in England.

I was in rehab with a guy who smelled. Everyone was tearing into him about how he smelled. So I stood up and yelled at everyone pointed out everyone's flaws. Stated my own. And told everyone if you have a problem with someone you don't go around making fun of them for it. To find a way to bring it up without being an asshole. I talked to him later in private. Turns out the dude had had a really bad infected cyst and was to embarrassed to talk to staff about it cause it was on his inner thigh. So I told him that if his leg is leaking pus that smelled that rancid he needed to be seen by a doctor. He ended up going to the hospital for a few weeks. The end of my stay he came back and apparently almost lost his leg and that he had to get a chunk of his thigh removed. He had to come back to rehab cause it was court ordered rehab that was really just another program for the state to get more money.

The best way to confront a stranger in public is to calmly, without arms waving about, ask them pointed questions, in Socratic fashion. That forces them intellectually on the defensive-- _"Why are you yelling at her? Is it fair that you can yell at her without recourse, but she cannot without risk of her job? Etc."_ If you are ever hit by a stranger is such situations, drop to the ground and start wailing in pain, pretend or otherwise. Never hit them back, because it then becomes a game of "I say, they say."

I saw a big black guy walking down the street yelling at someone in a car to get away from him. It turned out the white woman in the car was his girlfriend He was doing everything possible to get away from her. I yelled to the guy that I would give him a lift and he got into my car. She kept following us so I called the police.
I knew the cops were a bit racist so I told the cops what I saw and the woman was the one arrested.
I ended up helping the poor guy move out of his place because I had a pick up truck and we became friends. He told me I was the first white person who stood up for him.
I can't stand racism This guy was clearly the one being abused but he couldn't get away from her because the cops would always take her side. I am extremely happy I stood up for him because it got him out of a bad situation.
Though when I told him to get in my car, I didn't expect to get so deeply involved.

I work in CVS Pharmacy, and this story makes me smile and feel a bit better on hard days at work.
Towards the beginning of the year, our store was really packed from people trying to get their scripts and prepare for tax season, so tensions tend to be pretty high with how busy we are. This one guy, 6'1", is in a ten minute shouting match with my pharmacy manager over a prescription his doctor had ordered to replace his old one, which had expired. Mind you, my pharmacy manager is the nicest, most laid back guy I've ever met, and is on a first name basis with all of our customers. Never raises his voice, but how intense he got from explaining how simple the situation was to a bigger guy that blew out of proportion something for vitamins literally scared the shit out of all of us, and we were afraid we'd have to ban someone for the first time for disturbing other patients and staff. People were actually scared of 6'1". At one point, the guy goes on a tirade, screaming profanities at all of us and saying we were ripping him off, the works, until the sweetest old patient, 5'5", gets sick of it and calls him out for being an abusive ass. Behind him is an ex-navy seal, bigger than 6'1", who I've always known as very friendly. 6'1" tries squaring up with 5'5", threatening to beat him half to death, etc, and 5'5" has some enter the dragon calm because he just stares 6'1" in the eye and tells him how he's getting nothing from harassing college kids and a grandfather over vitamins. 6'1" is so irate he tries to provoke 5'5" into starting a fist fight, then ex-navy seal has enough and steps in to escort 6'1" out. Never saw 6'1" again, thankfully.

Yeah, years ago I saw something messed up and had to step in. I was walking to the store and I saw a kid punch another kid in the stomach. Which should be like normal kid stuff but... The bully's dad was in attendance. He was looking on proud of his son's actions. Apparently it was over borrowed money being owed or something. But what kind of grown ass man has a 'SON.... I AM PROUD...' moment after watching their kid beat a smaller kid up. I got them to leave the kid alone if anything because they noticed there was a witness.

To me it just felt off so i walked up to him and said "hey bro. How did you get here? Wanna go back home?"
His answers were "he has a knife . Yes please"
So i tackled the man and held him on the floor until he handed me the knife
Handed the knife to a staff member while anorther is calling security
I get the kid and just walk out with him and while walking explained the lie and asked where he lives
Had something similar with a differend kid with some 16 year old boys but those werent armed so it was a bit less than the first one
In case you feel/see a kid being kidnapped
1 be their brother/sister/cousin/aunt/uncle (depending on your age and gender)
2 ask if they are okay and who the kidnappers are and if they want to go home
3leave (if they wanna go home) and on the way ask him where he actually live
4 remember info from 2 and questions you asked on the way
5 give police info (if kid and parents are okay with it)
6 hope for the best (kidnapper arrested and no retries)

Some toothless chav started yelling at a man with dark skin - Arab, Indian, I don't know - calling him racial slurs and asking if there was a bomb in his rucksack. I said very loudly: "Wow, you just said all of that racist shit out loud, in front of everyone. How embarrassing for you." He turned on me then, claiming that it was none of my business because he knew the guy and was messing with him (false) and that I was the racist one for reading into the things he was saying. It got to the point where he was yelling right in my face, but I'd got involved now so I just kept telling him he was talking shit and was making a fool of himself. Eventually he ran out of steam and I got off at the next stop. I actually don't handle confrontation well so I was shaking quite badly, but some lovely women who got off with me reassured me I'd done the right thing.

I currently work as truck driver, I was at a Speedway and I had to fill up both sides of the tanks (they were Diesels), and after 10-15 minutes of waiting my turn, another trucker was next in line and he too, had two Diesel tanks to fill up so we were gonna be there a good long time. Some idiot pulls in front of me and the other trucker ripped this joker a BRAND NEW ORIFICE from every end. And he shot outta there like a bat outta hell! (Long read, but I stg it's worth it!) Oh man. I never thought I would ever get to tell this story but here we go. I live in British Columbia Canada and in the lower mainland we have what's called Translink, which includes our version of a subway called a sky train (it's above the streets, like the Disney monorail but it's a train). The line that I take is about an hour from start to finish and I basically have to ride the whole way, so I've seen many things happen during rush hour and seen many different kinds of people. This one guy was sitting in a seat that was in the far back corner and was a standalone, meaning the seat wasn't attached to a row, it was facing sideways with standing room all around it. Now when I say that the train is packed during rush hour, it's an understatement - it's literally sardines the entire way. I tell you all of this because I think it's important for you to understand what kind of scene it was to really understand what went on. I was sitting across but in a way that I could see everything clearly, and a young (Indian) lady was standing in front of him with a shoulder bag. Now normally it would be common courtesy to put your bag on the floor at your feet while standing to maximize shoulder and elbow room around you, but there was literally no room on the floor because otherwise the bag would for sure have been trampled. So she held it, as is her right, And as the train turned back and forth it swung a little bit and ended up tapping the guy in the knee. This happened a couple of times and I could see the guy visibly get angrier and angrier, and he's threatening her extremely loudly in a packed train that if she doesn't stop hitting him with her bag (I swear to god it was barely grazing his jeans) he was going to call the cops and report a physical assault. Obviously the girl was looking very distraught and uncomfortable because there was literally no where else for her bag to go, she couldn't hold it in front of her because there was somebody there and she couldn't hold it on the other side because there was somebody there, and she couldn't put it on the floor because someone would step on it. Nobody around knows what to do and the guy just keeps ripping into her about how disrespectful she was being and how he was going to call the cops and if that didn't work he was going to rip her throat out. This was the last straw for me as I have been listening to this go on for about 10 minutes and the girl was almost in tears, and so was I because I just felt so horrible and physically angry. He tells her one last time that she's lucky there are other people around because if there wasn't she wouldn't be making it off of this train, and to go the hell back to Pakistan or wherever her dirty people were from. I lost it. I can't remember exactly what I screamed out of pure frustration but it was something very similar to this. "Hey asshole, HOW fucking OLD are you?? How dare you, you sensitive little manchild, I can't believe how fucking stupid you are, she has EVERY right to be standing there and everyone here has every right to call the cops on you for threatening an innocent person. If you CANT HANDLE A PURSE TOUCHING YOU, maybe you should GET A CT SCAN because there's something wrong with your fucking brain, or maybe you should go the FUCK HOME and suck on your mom's tits because obviously you're still so immature you think that a train is somewhere you can be where YOU WONT BE TOUCHED! Fuck off and shut the FUCK up and I don't want to hear it again!!" (Its 100% laughable but I swear it was all in the heat of the moment and I was just screaming what came to mind.) It got quiet obviously for a couple of minutes before I tap the girl in the arm to ask her if she was ok and if she needed any help with anything, to which she just said thank you and that she was alright. I've never forgotten that fuckhead. Rot in hell you racist hemorrhoid.

Yes. So when I worked as a cashier at a grocery store, this lady about late 50s or early 60s always came in with her late 70s/early 80s mother. She berated her loudly nonstop, i think she resented having to care for her tbh. Just always calling her stupid, complaining that she walked too slow, or got her debit card out too slow. I hated it but we couldnt say anything to her. So I quit bc i got a better job. I was in the store grabbing some ice cream and i saw them. They were going to the checkout as i was. She started her yelling and complaining. Finally i had enough. I turned around and said to knock it off. She told me to mind my own business. I told her i did for years but ive had enough of how she talks to and treats this older woman. She said she knows I work here and will be calling corporate. I told her i quit and im just a regular old customer now that she cant touch with her threats. I also told her literally everybody that works here thinks she's a huge bitch for it. She checked out and left in a huff. She didnt say another word to her mother though.

I once stood up for a woman in a bar who was getting hassled by some drunk idiot. Like really wouldn’t let her alone and was starting to get grabby. I started by asking him to leave her alone and the situation rapidly escalated into a fight that I nearly lost, (turned out this dude was strong as fuck and managed to nearly smack the awake right out of me). We fell, I gained control and choked him out. Cops came, cuffed and sat both of us on the curb and this sweet girl came out and vouched me right the fuck out of having to sleep in jail. She proceeded to introduce me to her husband and we are still friends nearly 5 years later.
The first story in this thread is beautiful.

This wall of people formed and I walked past them. 2 chicks fought were raging on and I tried walking past. They pretty much slammed into me, a 360 lbs 17 yr old. Like 3 secs in, they looked up at me, I said "chill" and the main one backed off. People called me a hero the rest of the year. Still think it was weird how more people watched and did nothing instead of going to their lockers.

I was on the bus one afternoon years ago, heading home. A bunch of loud, obnoxious teenagers got on the bus and started making a ruckus, which annoyed the crap out of me. Then one of the teens, a white boy, started yelling at the bus driver, an Asian man. He made a comment about how Asians can't drive, and that's when I finally snapped. I stood up and began screaming at the boy, telling him off for being a racist punk, and then I told him and his friends to shut the hell up and sit down. They were rather shocked to say the least, but they did as I told them. I spent the rest of the way home fuming to myself about the whole situation.

I got the group all up and told them you better watch your mouth, that could be you in a few years for doing the same thing you were doing to him. They took one look at me and laughed. Just like they laugh at anything everyone does. Even when you try to do something or tell someone about something, nothing happens. I know from experience because I told a teacher about of a problem I was having and no one did a thing. They act like spreading the word will do wonders. Just look how well that worked. Not at all.

Single file line of girls and boys separated. 3 girls up was small girl in mini skirt. 2 girls up was blonde bully. BB flipped the skirt to expose smaller girl to the boys. She was mortified and many laughed. A year of bullying welled up in me. I reached around the girl in front of me and smacked the BB upside the head. Stunned silence all around. Turns out she was one of the more popular girls. I was never popular but i was treated well through high school and that BB is polite to me to this day. I guess being new and smacking a queen bee without a word left a lasting impression. 🤣

This teacher last year sat in my strategies class working on stuff. The teacher was extra annoying that today. Whenever someone would complain she would over exaggerate their complaint and say stuff like “oh it must be so hard” or “Oh. You have to walk to school? Oh the pain” (something like this. I honestly don’t remember). I knew she was joking but it was really getting on my nerves. So I waited for a quiet moment and raised my hand and said “Mrs. P, can you please be quiet?!” The whole class bursts into laughter. Then she kept being annoying and doing the thing above that set me off. I then shouted, “Please be quiet darling.” Again, the class bursts into laughter and she finally stops.

Yeah I did something similar. I saw a young woman at a train station, 22 I think, being called to join this rowdy group of men (they may have been high). She was backing away from the group slowly.
I called out to her, "Hey old friend, how are you doing? Remember that planet we went to once?"
This SOMEHOW worked, as the group of men ignored us as I walked her away from them. The men were so distracted by each other, they started doing pull ups on random bars at the station.
    Still proud of that moment.

I really hate when my order gets screwed up at a fast food place. But I consider it to not be a big deal. I'll take it back and ask nicely for them to try again. Then when I get it back I always smile and say thank you.
Every time this happens the staff always seem happy to make it right.
There is a lot of pressure to make these orders quickly and sometimes people just screw up. It is not the end of the world, and it is not a deliberate slight.
Just take it back and say, "Hi, I ordered ____ and I got _____. Can you please make it _____?" in a calm friendly voice. It is amazing how people respond when you treat them with respect. Especially people who work "low rent" jobs.
I don't know why so many people feel that "low rent" job workers don't deserve respect and they treat these people shitty. Treat everyone as if they were your doctor, and things will be so much better for you. People working in service will be happy to serve you.

I'm way too late for this, but I have a small story myself. So there's this white, tall, nerdy looking kid at my school who's not popular, (don't mean that in any offensive way if it came off as that, it's just how I'd describe him) and he always enters the washroom stall when changing for PE. (probably insecure about his body, but never asked) One day I enter the changing room, and the kid tries to enter the stall but it's locked. Some other kid says "Oh, I think there's someone in there." I know that's BS, since he's the only guy who uses it. Obviously, they're trying to make him change outside of the stall, which I would hate doing if I was him. So I look underneath and say "I don't see anyone's legs, so there's probably no one inside. I can unlock it." Since I'm the shortest guy in my class, I figured that crawling underneath would be easier, so I crawl underneath the gap in the stall and unlock the door. Don't remember how he reacted, and I barely new him, but I figured that if I was him I would hate being in that spot so I did it.

When I was about 11 or 12, girl A in my school year was yelling at another girl B in our year. Girl B had the emotional capacity of a little kid, and so would get upset easily, she was also quite overweight, so girl A was yelling at her in front of a large crowd of people, about how fat she was and how everybody hated her. I think she said some more stuff, but this was over 10 years ago.
I was always a shy kid, so have no idea what came over me, but I very calmly went up to girl A and told her calmly but firmly to stop, and leave girl B alone. Amazingly, she did so, and walked away with a few of her friends. I made sure girl B was ok, which she later was, and then started to walk to my class.
The next thing I knew, I was slammed into, and held against the wall by girl B. She started yelling that I had scrached her face (which I hadn't). I again, very calmly just stood there letting her scream at me, still pinned against the wall, saying nothing. Eventually she stopped, and I went to class, forgetting about the entire thing.
It wasn't until about 20 minutes later, when a teacher pulled me out of class to ask me what happened, that I remembered it at all. I didn't even tell my parents until years later, because I genuinly forgot it had happened. I'm not sure what happened that day to make me so calm, but me and girl B got on fine after that. She had a pretty rubbish home life, it didn't excuse her from what she did, but it did explain it a little bit.
I think sometimes, just staying calm and not fighting back, can help defuse a situation.

On the 20th of September, today is the 22nd, a customer of mine was being very rude to me and throwing homophobic remarks to me. I mean I'm not the straightest arrow, but I don't think I give off any vibes, I'm just me. (I'm bi if that matters) I wanted to get through his stuff as soon as possible because I've had some encounters with him in the past. A customer behind him told him off in my defence, and I haven't been happier to serve a customer than I had for that woman who defended me. She called him out for this blatant hatred and told him it would be best if he left. At that point i really didn't want anymore issues from the guy so i checked his stuff out quickly. I gave him his change and was walking to the front door and berating the lady for being nosy. I see that lady often and will always welcome her greatly into my store. For context, I work at a Dollar General in a pretty well populated city in Texas. A neighboring store, Dollar Tree had shut down, and we've taken in all of their customers so we're a bit understaffed since this influx of customers started pouring in.

Many years ago I was in a local seafront amusement arcade and some skinhead was kicking one of the attendants as he laid on the ground. Everybody was just stood around shocked and doing nothing, so I ordered him to stop. He turned around, grunted something, pulled his arm back to throw a punch..... and I smacked him into the left side of his head with my crash helmet (I'm a biker) as hard I could swing it on the strap. It made a sickening crunch on impact. Crash helmets are extremely hard and unforgiving weapons that bikers are legally obliged to carry in the UK. He just stared right through me, stuck in that "about to throw a punch" pose for 2 seconds, then collapsed like a sack of sh*t with blood coming out of his left ear and convulsing. An older attendant turned up, told me "thanks mate", then told me to scarper and that I was banned for my own safety (I'd probably be arrested as the police would have to be called and an ambulance).
By chance, 30 years later I ran into the attendant that banned me. He still remembers that day and me. He told me that I'd saved the attendant's life, as he had suffered 3 broken ribs plus bruised internal organs. That attendant emigrated to Australia, became joined the police and rose to the rank of sergeant. I asked about the fate of the skinhead. I'd fractured his skull and he was arrested, charged with grievous bodily harm, once he'd healed and went to prison. I enquired if I was still banned, and he told me , "No the police were looking for somebody who doesn't look anything like you because we gave a false description".
I wished I'd known as I spent months keeping a low profile and avoiding the area as I believed, at the time, that I would be picked up for what I'd done.

It was kinda dumb because I was like twelve yelling at an adult, but here’s the story anyway. My little sister, her friend, and I were at a playground. I was mainly there to watch her, so I was kinda in the distance keeping an eye on her. This little bratty girl came up demanding them to give them their toys. They were lps that my sister collected and they meant a lot to her. Of course my sister and her friend refuse and the brat goes away. A few minutes later, bratty child comes back with entitled mother. She asked my sister how old she was, but her friend went in the most annoying tone “wHy dO yOu cARe?” This lady was so annoyed that she demanded to see their parents. She said “my daughter is younger than you so she deserves these toys more than you. You shouldn’t be playing with toys anymore. Keep in mind, my sister was eight, she was a normal age to be playing with toys. The mother tries to snatch the toys out of my sister and her friend’s hands. Wtf lady? These are eight year olds! I finally walk over and scream nonsense like any twelve year old would. I began insulting her based off things my brother taught me that he learned off of Gordon Ramsey. Basically, I tell her she’s raising a brat and she’s unfit to be a mother if she’s gonna act like this. Then she demands to see my mom. I say something like “she doesn’t give the time of day to scum like you”. This woman *rages* and, again, *demands* to see my mother. I said sure, planning to just walk in circles around the playground. She told me to bring my mom to her. That was really dumb of her. I took my sister and her friend and we just asked to go home. I feel like I could’ve handled it without a combination of Gordon Ramsey and my own insults, but I was twelve, so I think it’s justified.

I have a few of these stories. The first was a morning commute on the Chicago Red Line. I was with a friend of the same gender and we were holding hands. She was having a bad morning and was a little scared of this appointment I was accompanying her to. So we were just chatting quietly. This dude starts pacing the isle of the train car quoting the bible. He sees us holding hands, stops, and just goes on this tirade of how homosexuality is a sin and starts 'quoting' scripture at us. I'm not a christian/catholic but I've read the bible and have an photographic memory. So I start quoting the correct scripture he was trying to bash my friend and I with. This was quite a few years ago and I really have no care to remember every little thing he said. But I do remember finishing my corrections with "If you're going to quote the bible at people you should probably read it first." He turned red, glanced around the train at people who were trying to muffle their laughter and people outright laughing. He scuttled off to the next train car, where I assume he kept at his sermon.
The next was when I was with a huge group of friends after a night of karaoke. Some typical jock dude and his buddies were ripping into a pair of lesbians. The jock dude was in a full on screaming tantrum, while the women just sat there staring wide eyed. There was another man on the train trying to calm the situation down but he got frustrated and started yelling back at the asshole. So me, with my mixed group of friends, got the couple of gay male friends to start making out, while I turned to my then girlfriend and started making out with her. With her consent I turned to another male friend and involved him with a few kisses. Jock dude sees this and looses his shit even more. The man who'd been trying to dissolve the situation then claims "Love is love," or something like that. At the next stop (which ironically was in Boys Town) Jock dudes friends pull him off the train to wait for the next one. And of course my friends and I are laughing. The couple that had 'started' the whole thing thanked the man who'd originally tried to help, and they turned to us and thanked us as well.
Believe it or don't. I honestly love sticking up for people, and have plenty more.

But I was pretty harsh to him(he left the school because of, not Only me but I was part of it) so I thought if he came up to me I would be nice and apologize. That didn’t happen. He noticed I was there and proceeded to walk up to me and berate me, I was visibly scared because he was walking to close for comfort. This girl who was on the other side of the fence I was next to yelled out for him to leave, he ended up walking away and we threw a couple insults back and forth. After he left I asked her why she helped me out, she said that if I didn’t like him then I must’ve had a reason.
I’ve only seen her a few times since, and she just said hi and waved

Wasnt so much being stood up for, but the evening my grandfather died, I got Subway for dinner. After ordering, I got into the car and realized the Subway employee had given me 4 cookies instead of 1. Still think about him 2 years later.

One time I stood up for a former classmate, because two knobs who transferred schools were being dickheads towards him, due to him being half-German. They were using the most childish phrases and stuff, like we were little kids or something.
I went "Hey! You're in 6th form. Act like it"
Which translates to: "You're not in school anymore. You're at the stage of your life where you'll be treated like an adult. Act like one" except I used fewer words to get my point across.
They never did anything stupid ever again.

For reasons that I cannot remember, I once opted to travel from Houston to Marin County, California (just north of San Francisco) by Greyhound, rather than flying. (Never do this.) About two stops after I boarded, here comes The Passenger From Hell: a very large, very LOUD, brassy, barely human female, early thirties, maybe, accompanied by a wizened, silent, stooped old man, late sixties at least, stared at his feet the whole time. Seemed like he’d just been released after a very lengthy prison sentence, and appeared to be utterly “ institutionalized.” We went from Houston to LA with this nightmarish hag going on and on about, “What’re we gonna do when we get there? We have no milk for the children! Oh, my God, what’re we gonna do? We need money!” This went on for HOURS, literally hours and hours. Eventually, we arrived in Los Angeles, where I had to switch buses. Yay! Finally I am rid of this awful human being. I grab my bag, toss it in, jump on board, find a seat, and relax. Driver closes the door, puts in reverse, is on his way out, when... yup. The Horrorshow, pounding on the door, demanding admission. Could not believe it. And then the driver stopped, so that this lovely couple could join us for the eight-hour ride to Oakland. Perfect. Old guy never said a word, but Hagrid started up again, immediately, with the same loud “woe is me” nonsense, and after about two minutes, I just snapped. I got up from my seat, walked back to her seat, leaned over until our faces nearly touched, and very quietly told her this: “ Lady, I’ve been listening to you all the way from Houston to Los Angeles, and I’m damned if I’m gonna listen to you any more. You need to stop talking right now.” And I looked into her eyes to make sure this was registering with her. Evidently it was, because I didn’t hear a single sound from her until she muttered something I didn’t catch when I got off the bus. For sure will never do that Greyhound thing again. Just no. Brrrrrr.

I did, a woman threatened me a few years back when I was trying to help her husband with the cart as they were both old and he was struggling and I had helped him. When she started yelling at me I told her then to stop being a bitch and help her husband because all she was doing was being a nasty woman to him all the way

I was in line at a security checkpoint behind a woman in hijab. This was a long time ago. She was asked by male security to remove her hijab. She asked to be checked by a female in a private area. They refused. She started crying. I turned away from her while trying to block the sight of others. I asked my ex husband to do the same. Several women made their way over. to help give her privacy. She removed her hijab.

I think I did this accidentally yesterday while I was waiting in line at the dollar store. I was waiting in line to check out and was having a conversation on the phone. No I would not normally talk on the phone in a store, but it was a work call (and yes, I put the other person on hold while I was talking to the cashier). Anyway, I was vaguely aware there was a single man behind me in line, and the line was moving very slowly. A while later I heard a group of people behind me. I only turned around because they sounded VERY close to me, and it turned out they were right behind me, like too close. I gave them a sort of scowl (not intentionally, my brain was mostly focused on the person I was talking to on the phone) because 1) they were in my personal space and 2) to be that close to me meant they had to be ahead of the single man who had been behind me. I turned to look for the man to see if maybe he had gotten out of line, but he was still there and gave him a confused look like "why did these people just jump in front of you?" I didn't say anything and just turned around. I kept turning my head towards them unconsciously because they were distracting me from my phone conversation and I think I kept giving them weird looks until I noticed they had gotten behind the man who was behind me in line and had begun talking much more quietly. I didn't mean to keep staring at them, it was an unconscious thing, but I am glad they backed away from me and stopped cutting in line.

When I was in elementary school I witnessed a kid getting bullied, I watched as the bully was standing in front of him shouting crap with an aggressive posture as the victim just sat there and cried. As soon as the bully walked away I went up to the boy and offered to help beat him up. He accepted. We got the bully against a wall, one of us pinned him while the other started smashing his head against the wall. he managed to struggle loose and started running so we chased after him. He ran past a teacher who caught us before we could get to him, but for some odd reason nobody got in trouble. I never talked to either of them before that point and never again after that, but the bully seemed to stop after we stood up to him and that's the main thing

    it's gonna sound like
r/thathappened but here we go. loud teenagers we're harassing people on my morning commute to work on the bus. once they got to me I told them to shut the f up and act right. they quieted down for a little while but then started up again after a few minutes making fun of a woman near me and at this point I was over talking to them cause this was my stop. I get up to get off and the woman they we're making fun of gets up to get off as well. one of the girls I saw her get into a heated argument with on the bus that was friends with the loud teenagers sees this and gets off the back of the bus immediately after. I see that and think whatever. but then I see all of them get off, and I'm thinking "no way, they wouldn't it's like 10am and everyone would see if they did" then it happens one of the girls grabs the woman's hair and they start hitting her. I'm at the end of the block as I see all this happen, then one of the teenage boys grabs her phone out of her hand and runs right toward me. I assume trying to get away, he thinks because he's big I'll move and the girl is running right behind him after her phone so he can't stop and change direction. he runs into me thinking I'll fall over, but I don't I just put him in a big Bear hug. he's still squirming but he realizes at this point he's not going anywhere unless I want him to. I wrestle the phone out his hand and push him out of the way. then the girl reaches us and hides behind me as the group of girls is right behind her. they get in my face, I tell them to back off or I won't have a problem throwing them around. one of the girls gets bold and pushes me. I grabbed her by the hood of her hoodie and threw her by it so she fell to the ground. then looked at the rest of the teens and said "try me bitch" they walk off mad and cursing threatening to shoot me and the like. I hand the girl who had been hit by them her phone back and she hopped on the bus and I never saw her again. those teens though I saw later that week at my security job trying to steal some underwear, I got those back from them them laughing at them as they left.

I have and it’s not worth. Usually the guy you take up for ends up leaving you to fight his battles for you. If he’s too weak to stand up for himself then you’re not helping by stepping in for them. Let them learn. Turns out that anger has enough calcium to grow your ass a backbone.

Was going to a midnight showing of something at the cinema (I always go late night showings, the manager at my local cinema is a guy I went to school with and I get good seats for cheap and regular freebies) just as I'm being served a group of guys a few years younger than me, I'm guessing , they looked early twenties come over and ask the girl serving me (She's nineteen at the time, student with a part time job) if they can swap their salted popcorn for sweet and then hand the tubs over....
The tubs are all either empty or nearly empty, she tells them that they can't get a refund or a replacement for something that they've eaten but they can more if they want; they start getting aggro about it one of them reaches over to grab her.
I swung an elbow into that guys face and punched the first one of his friends to try and square up to me in the mouth; I'm not a big guy, I'm under six feet tall but I work manual jobs and I'm naturally big across the shoulders; I pack a punch and I'm honestly pretty well known face in my part of town so the aggro carried on for a few seconds until I said whoever wants to come outside and fight me is welcome to.
They decided it wasn't worth it; I got a free beer for my troubles.

In my country (Norway, and it probably existed in other countries too?) they made a tv show called "Who cares?" that tested this, deliberately creating situations in public where people pretended to be rude/bully/harass others to see how many people reacted. It was always heartwarming to see those people that did stand up.

I have never worked in retail or at fast food but I HATE when people are mean to these people, I know that I went to a mc donald several times during lunch time, there were maybe 6 people at most doing ALL PARTS of the order, like the entire mc donald staff was 6 people at most and they had like 15 or more people storm in at any given time and they had to serve all of them in a relatively short time, the people that bitched at them were the worst, not only were they making the underpaid yet hardworking teens or at most 20 year olds doing their first jobs after school feel horrible they also slowed down the line by making 1 or 2 of the 6 focus ENTIRELY on them instead of helping their co-workers work on the 14 other orders they had waiting in line for some retarded reason like the fries not being hot enough or the burger not looking the way its suppose to be, mistakes happen but just politely ask one of them instead of making the mfeel liek thrash, I once got my menu order without fries despite them being promised and I simply walked up, showed them my receipt and said I didnt get fries and BOOM done in 5 seconds, I was given my fries, the girl in mc donald didnt get yelled at and nobody had to wait extra simply because I wasnt a whiny bitch because of 1 easily fixed mistake a 15 year old part-timer made.

I was going through self checkout at a Walmart one evening and I guess I missed something prior that happened, but the one person in charge of looking over the whole area looked like she had been run ragged, and was helping me with a system issue. We have it almost resolved, and a couple ladies went walking by on their way out with a cart full of shit, and start going off on the lady (I didn't even see them in self checkout, but assumed they were there), I told the one lady running her mouth to shut up and if she had that much of an issue scanning her own shit to leave it to the professionals. She huffed and started stomping out at an increased pace while the other lady next to her was holding back laughter.
These people don't get paid enough to put up with your shit, if you want someone to kiss your ass, don't do it at a department store (or fast food).

The first story is basically the first half of a great example of something I want to point out....
The child had been horrifically beaten, head purposely physically slammed in to pavement by the parent.... There's absolutely nothing that can be done to defend this parent because she knew she did wrong.... This proven by her lying and saying she accidently dropped the child when she was attacked unprovoked.... they also found injuries going back throughout the child's life including broken bones badly healed, so the poor little angel had endured the agony of broken bones without medications to help with the extreme pains (shocked the piece of sh*t parent didn't taken the child to the ER with a lie so they could obtain the Rx for their own uses)....
This brings me to the first of my two points....
The law actually allows for the idea that a parent is too ignorant to understand our had just never been taught that physically abusing/ beating their child was not okay....
Because the truth of the fact that baseline pre-wired instincts are to care for and protect your offspring to the point of losing your own life if necessary is not recognized in the law.
SoOoOoOo.... This means that the children MIGHT be TEMPORARILY given over to someone else to care for and protect them until the abusive sacks of sh*t sorry excuse for parents complete government created parenting classes (because we all know how great the government is at the care, protection, education, law-making, etc, etc, etc, in regard to children) then the children will be returned to the parents. Great job.
So the secendPartr of my point, or rath t desec ok nf
