- This vehicle has a "clunk" noise and a noticeable shift in the vehicle when accelerating or on harsh shifts. A visual inspection found that the Upper Engine Torque Strut Mount had failed.
This is a common problem on these vehicle and it affects the 2008 - 2017 Buick Enclave, as well as the GMC Acadia and the Chevrolet Traverse.
Figuring out those black on black connector clips is to me the hardest part of any auto repair-thanks for showing those small details! Nice video.
Really enjoyed this video. Very Professional step by step from start to finish. You were Awesome in your instructions. You didn't just start in the middle, you started from giving a good understanding of what you were about to do to disconnecting the negative cable on the battery first., then gave instructions as you talked us through this video, what to do, what not to do, the best way to do it from start to finish. Awesome. Thanks for sharing this video. Very helpful. You've convinced me I can do this myself.
I struggled more with getting the new one in than the old one out. Thanks for the tip about the notch on the bottom. Once I found the correct angle I just had to work it in to place. Didn't take a whole lot of force.
Thank you ! I have to do this job this weekend ! Gave me the confidence I needed .. and when the mount fell in place , we both thank the lord at the same time . Great job
Thank you for this video. This repair seemed daunting just from the idea of removing the fuse box and then literally taking an engine mount off.
I literally did the task in 1 hour without any surprises. And I didn't do the job properly by tightening the mount enough. So the second time took me 15 mins from start to finish.
A smidge under 50 lb/ft is enough to keep the mount stable
You're the best!
You are one of the most patient mechanics I have ever watched. Thanks for the detailed experience.
Great video, much appreciated. Changed mine in about a half hour!
Wow well explained and excellent visual I will change my upper torque mount Thank you! Well said and done !
Great video i just replaced one yesterday along with a motor mount. Found it was not lining up as easy so what it did was lift the engine from the bottom with a jack and it lined up perfect. Went in with ease.
Great video man. You did an amazing job of showing all the steps and this videos was a life saver for me🙏🏻
Very good job you’re great at explaining what needs to be done and how to do it thank you

Great video brother!! I couldn’t figure out why after replacing my motor mounts I still heard that clunking noise you mentioned
This video probably just save me hundreds of dollars of labor charges! Thanks for the video!

Good video amazing explanation.
Fantastic Video. Helped a lot.
Excellent video!!
Thank you very much for the video this is saved me a lot of time I subscribed
"Thank you Lord" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I feel you on that Bro. Sometimes we catch a break.
Gotta give him all praise .
Thank you for the excellent video. I see some tears in my strut mount so must be it. If it is in neutral it does not make the noise, or in reverse, just in drive while powerbraking
Thanks for the excellent video
Great instructions, thank you
cool video really enjoyed it thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for your time i love your video
Thank you. Great job! 😀
thanks for the help. great video.
Thank you for your help
Great video. Is it not necessary to support the motor from the bottom while replacing this mount ?
Awesome man.
Nice video good energy God Bless you
Perfect video
Good job thanks Ford this video
Just finished my 09. Video is stop on. Thx!!
Thanks for the excellent video. Did you check the rear one to see if it was broken? The 3 hydraulic motor mounts down below also go bad after about 80k miles.
Great job
What brand torque strut did you use? It lined up very nice.
Do you have any videos on the remaining mounts? I bought the set and with your help was able to change this one but have no idea how to change the other 3 mounts that came with the set.
Great video! Can you do a video of the front motor mount?
great advice.......despite the tapered connecting bolt, if I try hard enough it not impossible and I can cross thread the bolt.
Would the Saturn Outlook be the same process? I don’t have the remove the tire and strut itself to do this?
it seemed you installed the arm upside down from the way it came out ? Great video and good camera work !
Thanks.
how long does this mounts last i still have the original in my 09 Acadia, just changed my front engine mount it was bad
Thanks
Great video now is there other mounts as well or is that the only one ? Thanks for your help
3 other mounts lower rear, front, transmission.
What size are the studs???
Great video! Very detailed! I have a question. Do you have to lift the engine at all to replace this torque strut?
No, lifting of the engine is not required for this mount. This mount is used to keep the engine from moving forward and rearward at the top as it would tend to when driving.
On some, you might have to slightly rock the vehicle back and forth to shift the engine slightly to line up the holes, but that's not usually an issue.
You could be a good teacher Sir.
very informative thank you. I just hope you didnt leave the oil cap off the whole time with all that dust floating around lol
Very detailed video after watching this even noob can fix it
did you see the nasty oil cap? lol.... nice video and i do like the hat
What size sockets
How many miles on it
Great Video! Question my car has the same mount that is broken so I want to order the part online but I get different torques right upper or rear torque strut mount which one is the one you replaced ? Thanks
Strut mount
Thanks for the video, but you did put it upside down
No, actually. When editing, I noticed the same thing, that the relief was on top when I installed it. I went through and you can see when I'm holding the new part that both sides are actually relief cut like that.
Thanks for the comment and I hope the video helped.
Whats the part number
I replaced it and it still has a similar noise but not as bad could it be the strut itself
in your opinion once you have the mount out could you replace the serpentine belt from the top ?
I am about to try this (replace serpentine belt and possibly the water pump while I have this off). Will let you know what I find!
@@clayberish6986 thanks
Man.. I did this exactly as to the video, put everything back together making sure all pins and connectors line up and click close... Now chevy traverse starter cranks but will not turn on, again I checked every connector back and forth.. has this ever happen to anybody?
did you figure it out?
Everything is good thanks for the video actually but you got a Ford cap
Oye compadre mecánico ese no es el único Moro modelo en crane no es el único caso del motor tiene 3 +
The mount for the 2008 is way different
Thats why you should have milwaukee tools
Very true. I no longer use or buy Snap-On cordless tools. I've switched to Milwaukee impacts and cordless ratchets. Thanks for watching and for the comment.
@@DIYAutoHomeschool Thank you for video helped me alot, im also milwaukee tools guy, just walk into a home depot.
Why not take the whole arm off? No need to fiddle with wiggling things around and wedging screwdrivers, take the mount off the arm outsode the bay. It's two more bolts...had take it off to replace the water pump the other day went way easier than what you went through.
