To take it off, it's easier to just cut the top bolt off the old mount. I also took some off the new one so it'll go on easier. You can actually get a flex socket on that second bracket bolt to tighten it. Hope this helps anyone else tackling this.
After watching so many different variations of how people are struggling with the transmission mount, I did just that. I dremeled off the unnecessarily long threading and loosened the bracket. After that it falls in like butter. 👍🏿
I did replace all four engine and transmission mount on 2012 Chevy Traverse. I agree it is the worst engineering design I have ever seen in my life. My other cars are BMW, Mercedes and Subaru. The nicest design in all three of them. I made one small mistake at the beginning that assumed this AMERICAN Car uses Standard tools, but NO, uses Metric. I replaced the Frond, and back and under the fuse box. The Fuse box one was the easiest one. The hardest and most time consuming one was the Transmission. Then by looking at it, I came up with an Idea that worked perfectly. Just look at the clearance of the bolt on the top of the Mount is about 1.5 inch clearance. So, I cut the whole bolt for dismantling it with electric rotary saw. Then I cut 1/4 of inch from the new mount as well. The installation was a breeze and there is still 1 and 3/4 of inch left on top of the mount. NO ISSUES after driving it for a 4 hours and inside a lot of pot holes. As Good As New.
This is some of the worst engineering I’ve ever seen. The bracket is designed so that it hits the frame before you have enough clearance to service the transmission mount. All GM had to do was redesign this bracket and this would be such a simple job. Incredible. Sincerely the person who is still trying to install the new replacement mount.
Hi, I think that the most difficult screw of the three is not the one that you say is the second of the two below. Well you know that the most difficult screw to remove is the one on the top of the right side. I could not take it away as much as I tried and I had to take it to a mechanic workshop as the video is good👍
Tried it from all directions, the motor/trans could not be jacked-up enough to give it clearance. Needed to remove the three bolts holding that bracket before it could be removed.
Cool tunes jamming for the sound track but for the most part I'd be more interested in hearing you guys talk your way thru this insanity even if it's mosty curse words.
I'm not sure what the proper spec is, always consult a repair manual for the proper specs. I supported the trans with a jack & piece of wood just in case.
Upkeep Home & Auto thanks - I did the front and upper mounts but I feel that trans might be bad at 68k. Feels like weird down shift movement - the trans is good so I know it’s not that .... yet.
@@upkeephomeauto1161 so you took the bracket and mount out without jacking up the transmission? You just held the transmission in place with a jacket just in case?
@@upkeephomeauto1161 How on earth did you get that third bolt out? There is little room for any motion with a tool. I got a wrench on the head but it was so tight I needed to use a hammer to get it started but there's no room. And it looks like (depending on the length of the bolt) once you are able to unscrew the bolt that removal will be obstructed by the mount.

as we speak 🤕
Watched this video and tackled the trans.mount for a friend.it was tough getting the mount back in place but useful video for sure. Thanks
wow that old mount looked crazy! Thanks for the video!
How did you guys put the mount and bracket pack on.?

Hopefully the mechanic did not charge you too much for the job.
I did replace the transmission motor mount in traverse and I use a electric saw to cut the top bolt of the old motor mount to remove it
how smoothly did the new one go back in?
So helpful! Thank you
Remove nut from front engine mount. And or drop sub frame a tad. Don’t need remove back of that mount
The other engine mounts have to be loosened too in order to remove and replace the mount
I got away without doing that but it was a struggle
@@shawnwest3779 thanks, I tried raising the engine but was limited by the frame. I hope I don't need to replace another one of these
Do you think the mount may have come out if you had pried from the top down instead of from the bottom up?

Impossible without removing the bracket. I tried everything and the mount kept getting jammed. Thanks GM.
How do you access the bottom mount bolt?
You can't use a socket so I used an open-end wrench & it took a long time.

What’s the torque spec on the 3 bolts that gone on the trans and do you need to Jack the trans when removing/replacing?

@@nasabraham6520 yes, remove three bolts from the bracket then the mount can be replaced.
What were your symptoms of this failed mount?
It wasn't my vehicle, but I believe it was a slight vibration after stepping on the gas pedal.
anyone could see that the trans mount is "trapped" between the mounting brackets so why try to pry it out :)
Just to make it appear difficult. Or extend the video. Or as a shortcut.
Say hi to monika!
Love how the single hardest part that needs the most detail on method/technique is completely overlooked 🙄
Frustration set in & getting it done took priority over filming 🤨
Not really real resaults, much more involved
Yes it was, but forgot to film the actual removal. But removing the 3 bracket bolts holding the mount was the key.
