Great build. I made long parts hold downs but made them from laminated oak over all 1/4 thick. Nice and springy.
That is a beast of a roller, I have never seen one quite like that one.

Nice job Brian. Laminating both sides is probably a good idea. Modern modular office furniture desk tops all have laminates on both sides of particle board, probably to avoid warping and adding strength.
Just a suggestion: if your table insert was a circle with its center offset from the drill's center, you could turn the insert a few degrees when the current position gets too damaged to use, giving you a fresh surface without replacing the insert. Additional inserts would be quick to make on the bandsaw with a circle jig.

Great table. Really like the hold down pieces.
I had a purchased drill press table like what you built here. Problem I had was just after a few uses, the hold down clamps pulled the track right out of the table groove. The screws they used were only 1/2" lg and in that MDF there was not much strength. So I replaced the wood screws with machine bolts and counter sunk the underside to accept a nut. Only used it once since then, but I don't think they will pull out again. Like the way you built this though, nice job and presentation... Thanks!!
Nice table, tip for ya a little compressed air will lift the insert right out. That way you don't have to put the screws in it

Great video! Good balance of explanation vs. elevator music (or whatever people use). If you want to take it up a level, consider a lav microphone to improve sound and reduce echo. Makes for easier listening. Yeah, that means more $$ investment, but maybe with the help of your Patreon support you can factor it into your budget in the future.

Great table and fence. BTW, when it's time to replace the insert, instead of using screws, just drill a hole big enough for one of your fingers to get in and then you can pull it straight up with your thumb and first finger. You are trashing the insert anyway. In reality, it will probably already have the hole, LOL
Great video! Was that a sanding disc on your table saw? do you have any info on that as it seems an interesting idea!
if you'll be making a lot of inserts it would be easier to make the whole square to not round off all the inserts, also that positive stop could use a recess, sawdust can get trapped in the corner and mess with your length/position (learned that the hard way)
Great job Brian. Any suggestions on where to buy the laminate? I believe I saw it some years back in one of the big box stores, but you had to buy a full 4'x8' sheet and they didn't have any simple solid colors.
+Chatoyance Woodworks I bought my laminate at Lowes and I had to buy an entire 4x8 sheet. I bought a sheet that was damaged in several places and asked for a discount and scored a 50% discount.

What brand is that miter gauge "fence" on the TS shown at 8:50 of the video? I gots to have one of those, especially with the flip stop. You basically have a mini crosscut sled with that setup.

It slices,it dices, it makes Julienne fries in seconds!!!!, but no Ginsu knives dammit. (apologies to Ron Popiel). That unit seems like a serious addition to a larger traditional TS CC sled, at least for smaller pieces, with angle cut capability, up to about 45degrees?.
I did notice in the Amazon reviews that several purchasers had adjustment or accuracy issues, some were solved and some not. Most of the issues seemed fixable, and I certainly don't mind tweaking a tool to "fine tune it". It does seem that the mfg. issues were more prevalent on older units, as some reviews go back 12 plus years. What has your feedback been from YT viewers on this piece?
I was just looking at some Incra type replacement miter gauges and possibly a new fence (all GREAT pieces no doubt), for similar cuts, but Dayum, I just can't swing the bucks. This item will take place of the existing POS miter gauge, avoid the construction of a second CC sled. Will definitely put it on the must buy list.

"Hand carved." I think not so much. They use routers. That seems to be a machine. Admittedly they are the best at what they do.
Nice trick on gluing laminate. Dude think about your lungs. Contact cement VOC and MDF dust are really bad for you. Router dust inhalation from laminate is permanent.
+William Dawson Trust me. As a chemist I've been exposed to much worse unfortunately. I've breathed in my fair share of dichloromethane, toluene, hexanes, ethyl acetate and acetone to name a few. I'm not saying that one should be careless, but rather I'm well aware of the associated dangers. I wore a dust mask for most of the MDF work and the garage door was open for the VOC. Plenty of fresh air. ;)
Be careful with that flapping T-shirt dude, or you may be having belly reducing surgery on your table saw when it drags you on to the blade !
Funny you should mention that. I was pulled into the table saw and I was sawed completely inhalf. The doctors were able to sew me back together but my left side is now on my right and my right on my left.
