- Talk's Kevin O'Sullivan is joined political journalist Theo Usherwood to discuss the future of the Tory party.
Suella Braverman has hit out at reported comments by Kemi Badenoch about her having a breakdown, as the rancour between the two Tory leadership rivals descended into a public slanging match.
Shadow housing secretary Ms Badenoch reportedly used Rishi Sunak’s first shadow cabinet meeting to criticise his election campaign and accuse Ms Braverman of having a “very public” nervous breakdown.
Kevin and Theo talk about leadership contests for the party with Theo adding Suella Braverman might "alienate" more centre party members, the pair also discuss where the Tory party went wrong.

Kemi cannot be trusted
Tories cannot be trusted period…
Tories are finished👎
I’m soooooo here for it…
Sunak lost the GE on purpose to avert a new boss vote, which suella wuda won
Who the hell is Suella Wuda ?!?!
You might be right, there. Suella has the makings of a real Tory. Rishi and May are what Thatcher used to call the Wets in her Cabinet.
It was WEf instruction. It was Labour's time. The push for Lab. started at the beginning of the year. Did you notice the MSN narrative?
Reform:' Look at me. We are the conservatives now.' 😁😏
Yaw. It’s over for the Conservative Party. 🎉🎉
🎉🎉🎉🎉
Then the remedy is straightforward, if you want to be a politician look at the Parties available and choose one that aligns with your values and ambitions. This tribal notion of disloyalty is immature and self defeating; I am biased but if I was a Tory member and disagreed with its policies I would willingly join the Reform party and make it clear to all why I did it. People will understand your honesty but won't tolerate any constant complaining about your party but remain there out of misguided loyalty. Winston Churchill had no problem with crossing the floor!
The problem is that many politicians chose the Conservatives because that was the most likely route to power. As a result the party is no longer Conservative.
It is not right and centre, it is centre and left!
I think the outcome of the Tory leadership contest will be very interesting. If they go for another Blairite politic type leader, I wouldn't be surprised if you see Conservatives jump over to ReformUK. Because anything less than a real Conservative or at least right wing leader, the Tories are a sinking ship. Don't forget 80% of eligible voters didn't vote for Labour and another 19 million+ didn't even vote. There's a huge voter base waiting for the right party.
I don't think the Tories understand. They're about to double down on centrist. It will be the end because there is no room there. I forsee Reform eventually being rebranded as New Conservative.
My money on MR blobby 👍
Alan B'Stard is the one they need now.
Suella would be a great spokesperson for the Reform Party. She’s wasting her time in the Tory Party as they have moved way over to the left and become very woke in outlook.
KB is ideal as she will cause mayhem inside the party form day one and anew leader will need to be found within months....
I think if Kemi, Suella or Priti Patel are elected leader then the press will have a field day.
All talk no action Kemi sellout to the Tory wets
Awaken
Inflation was coming down in spite of Sunak and the BofE.
Self fulfilling prophecies are not prophecies.
Shringking economy usually leads to falling inflation.
What shallow analysis. The question should be 'What's happening to politics, itself'. This infantile dive into personalities answers absolutely nothing. The political system is in crisis - which will only worsen. Starmer understands this, with his statement that 'Faith in the political system needs to be restored'. I agree, but it's far too late.
