    • @rikimarco1826
      @rikimarco1826 Месяц назад +1

      @@SlowhandGreg I disagree, debt is not irrelevant. UK GDP is approx. £2.5T, but the National Debt is also £2.5T. An individual may borrow £100K over 25 yrs to purchase a £400K house. It is usual to assume that over that period the repayments will appear to diminish as potential earnings increase and inflation erodes value of money. At the end you own a house which may now be worth £1M. The Govt is stacking up debt with no appreciable result which has any value. It now has to borrow more & more money to service the debt from borrowing money to fund the budget deficit. The Govt uses inflation (devaluation of currency) to help minimise its repayment schedule. The object of a national economy or a business is to create wealth through adding value. Britain no longer creates wealth, it is off-shoring as much manufacturing as it can, it is destroying the oil & gas industries, it is trying to destroy farming & agriculture. If London ever lost its primary place in financial, insurance & legal services (our so called invisible earnings) our ability to raise money to fill the deficit gap would crumble away. Germany experienced hyper inflation in 1922/3, the USA & Europe went into the Great Depression after the 1929 Wall Street crash. We came very close to disaster in 2007/8. Productivity in the UK has flatlined ever since. One simple question, would you rather have £100 credit or £100 debt. One hard question, what has the UK to show for £2.5T debt?

    A Labour MP that doesn't have a clue what a surprise. GB Energy will cost us hundreds of £biilions, how are they going to to pay for that? How are they going to pay to renationalise the rail industry, which will cost more £billions? I'm sick of hearing about non dom's and windfall taxes that won't cover a fraction of it. I work in the energy sector and we will NEVER hit fully renewable by 2030, it's a crock we won't hit fully renewable for decades and Russia won't be the problem for our energy, it will be China as they produce 62% of the worlds wind turbines and solar panels and own nearly all the mineral rights used in the manufacture of wind turbines and solar panels.
    Labour have no idea about growth, Labour are shelving infrastructure projects in order to fund public sector pay rises, public sector don't produce growth but infrastructure projects DO, even in times of deep recession infrastructure projects go ahead to help stimulate growth, but Labour decide pay rises for the least productive people in the country is what is going to stimulate the economy, I don't want to hear those who voted for Labour complain when they get squeezed more and more so as to pay for an ever expanding and under performing public sector, whilst they get poorer, they voted for it.

    • @thomashowe1509
      @thomashowe1509 Месяц назад +9

      Something else to consider is they are raising capital gains tax ( tax on entrepreneurs) so how can you possibly create growth when you’re pinching one of the key contributors and making them poorer + more regulations are coming into place, so how can you possibly get growth from high tax/ regulations.
      While HS2 was a disaster you still need modernised infrastructure projects to advance the UK forward and to magically believe public sector pay rises will create growth instead is for the birds.
      To me the most devastating thing coming is the oil and gas industry being destroyed for ideological reasons. Miliband denied it but his green agenda is literally going to put 200,000 people out of work for no reason. For right or for wrong thatcher is associated with pit closures - Labour will be associated with killing Aberdeen which is a major employer and keeps the city going from all evidence.
      It’s still too soon, but looking at how shallow their support actually is, Labour could actually do the unthinkable and genuinely implode after they hike taxes, after saying they wouldn’t which is a blatant lie to the UK electorate and will leave many people conned. In addition to their growth plan seemingly destined to fail , it’s astonishing how few ideas they have to solve the most basic of problems.

    • @sammic7492
      @sammic7492 Месяц назад +8

      @@thomashowe1509 As someone who has been in the energy industry for 20 years (nuclear, fossil and renewables) I can't believe the stupidity of people like Miliband who seems to believe what he's spouting when the reality is he either knows something no one else knows or he really is as mad as a box of frogs, I believe it's the latter. He's so mad he seems incapable of understanding the implications of his pet project or the costs financially and to the public.
      Labour have no ideas and no strategy other than non doms and windfall taxes which won't even touch the sides, and this is before we renationalise the rail industry (God help us) more expense for the tax payer to pick up. Labour won't just be killing Aberdeen I remember the disaster that was the 1970's under Labour and they're just doing the same as they did then and history tells us it was a disaster.

    • @sammic7492
      @sammic7492 Месяц назад +4

      @peterholden3672 You are aware that HS2 wasn't the only infrastructure project in the country? the way to encourage growth is through infrastructure projects as they provide employment and improve the conditions to do business, which is why even during deep recessions infrastructure projects still go ahead. When you take money out of infrastructure projects to finance public sector pay rises that is backwards thinking, it's about appeasing the unions and sabotaging growth, and who do you think they will turn to to balance the books when we don't get the growth we need? the tax payer that's who. They are demanding the water companies clean up the rivers etc and they must borrow £80 BILLION to do it, Labour are saying the city will utilise borrowing to pay for it who do you think is going to paying it pack with INTEREST? US they have already said that our bills will go up but they aren't taxing our pay, no instead they introduce stealth payments which will leave us even poorer. The only ones who benefit from a Labour Gov is Gov/public sector whilst everyone else get screwed. The public sector pay rises will cost us a MINIMUM of £50 BILLION over the next 5 years and that's before whatever pay rise the GP's and junior Dr's get and whatever other pay demands the public sector and unions make every year now Labour are in. We have public sector workers demanding to work from home so the economy loses £BILLIONS as people don't pay for travel, or lunches, coffee etc and little of those above inflation pay rises will go back into the spending economy, and the pay rises won't be immediate anyway.

The reality is that we need to be having sensible conversation rather than just acting upon the lobbying and cash donations from oil producers and big business. If the Government wants to protect the UK and provide energy security then we need to have cost effective base load capacity which can only be nuclear once the ban on coal, gas and oil comes into force. We therefore need to grant licences to pump North Sea oil and gas again, using the revenue to pay for the new Rolls Royce Nuclear reactors to end our dependence on France to top up our electric grid.

      Yes there is. The renewability is when the lights and heat comes on again after the windless blackouts to come. I doubt if any of the labour MPs are numerate enough to actually work out what is needed to keep the grid up or if they even care. The left wing philosophy is there is no limit to the people who can be expended if it is for the good of the people.
