A couple of months ago I was homeless and the woman at the council told me they can't help me with accommodation until I prove to them that I'd be more vulnerable on the streets than she would be. So I was on the streets for a little while until I could get a diagnosis and a doctors note. Yet illegal migrants get free hotels. That's the type of thing that's driving people to protest and get annoyed with both the last government and this one.

I am shocked by Josh Greeley's weak punishment given that his offence was directed at a prospective MP. Whatever happened to all the MPs moaning about how dangerous it is to be a politician? Giving offenders who assault politicians light sentences is a recipe for disaster, as friends and relatives of Jo Cox and Sir David Amess might agree. Poor decision by the courts under this weak government. I fear this will come back to bite those at Westminster.
