    • @jeffworthington9286
      @jeffworthington9286 Месяц назад +1

      They were not all granted, labours approach to this is we still need oil and gas but as renewables come more on side we can start slowing on oil and gas. That’s always been there approach. Also nuclear . Most of all that oil and gas is sold on the open market which means we will be paying the same price all the time and held to ransom . Renewables will give us more independence and not reliant on Russia and other regimes. By the way Tice and Reform were given £500K donation by oil and gas so it’s in there interests and not public to fight there corner.

      Like water companies, others may own it and lose everything when they go broke like Thames Water, but they cannot take the stuff away! So in this case ownership is irrelevant. The supply is secure, in our lands and water. Getting stuff built and done seems beyond UK business, or overpriced as usual.

      Absolutely. Never mind the ore grades are diminishing and the mining contacts not even in the frame. We have no copper mines in UK remember! Ignorance is profound and everywhere. Btw, Julia H-B could do with some homework on mines, minerals and energy. … No proper discussion on nuclear. We will have blackouts / brownouts before we wake up that we only have one globe and will have to be more frugal on energy use. Just look at global energy demand. Needs a much bigger discussion. It won,t be on this channel.

      Good God man, educate yourself. Wikipedia tells us;
      The theory that fossil fuels formed from the fossilized remains of dead plants by exposure to heat and pressure in Earth's crust over millions of years was first introduced by Andreas Libavius "in his 1597 Alchemia [Alchymia]"
      The first use of the term "fossil fuel" occurs in the work of the German chemist Caspar Neumann, in English translation in 1759.[22] The Oxford English Dictionary notes that in the phrase "fossil fuel" the adjective "fossil" means "[o]btained by digging; found buried in the earth", which dates to at least 1652,[23] before the English noun "fossil" came to refer primarily to long-dead organisms in the early 18th century.[24]

    I've worked in the energy sector in all areas for more than 20yrs, and Net Zero is a dream and will not happen, as for 2030 it's impossible. We don't have the storage capability required we are not in a position technologically to be able to store what is required and won't be until long after 2030. We will need other sources of energy for decades especially in the UK where our weather is so unpredictable, For us to even attempt Net Zero with our climate is ridiculous, I get countries like KSA, UAE, South Africa etc looking to achieve it because it is possible with their climates, the UAE and KSA will be at approx 50% by 2030 and is growing rapidly and it hasn't taken 20+ years to get there, unlike us who won't be at 50% by 2030. We will destroy not only our economy but our way of life, in some parts of the US including California they have experienced rolling blackouts and that will be us if we continue this way.

    As we speak the uk grid is been supplied 42.1% fossil fuel, 21.9% renewables and 24.6% nuclear and biomass. That’s 1400 Wednesday afternoon. Low demand.

      I hate that word "Biomass". Why can't they just be honest and say they are chopping down millions of trees and burning them! And no, I am not one of those eco-greeny hippies, just someone who is pissed off seeing swathes of forest across North America and parts of Europe being used for firewood. So much for "Green" energy!!

    Pay foreign suppliers to supply them. Pay the installers a fixed amount per wand whether they’re required or off load. When they manufacture these wands abroad does the supply chain only use “ green energy” to make them and the components needed. The only good thing we can be sanctimonious about it is not us contributing to global warming, even though we indirectly contribute. IDIOCY

    The photo shown of the solar farm does not include the battery storage system required by such a system.
    Our community recently installed a small solar farm in my neighbourhood, and when we were given a tour of the facility it was explained that a system like this can not just have solar panels pumping directly into the grid, it needs a buffer like a battery system. The battery system on a solar farm is worth 10 times more than the panels and their wiring.
    Storage and distribution is more important than the production of electricity in farms like this. This would also be true for wind farms and tidal systems.
    Of course solar farms help, but the cost is really not economical at this time.

    • @tracyconnolly7169

      Agree with you good comment but knowone talks about the harm to the environment. Wind turbines kill birds off shore destroys the sea bed, grass don't grow under solar panels and I do worry having large battery storage we do have thunder n lighting.

    No one is talking about the massive extra electricity for transport,petrol and diesel, heating removal of gas , hot water ditto, industry, property improvements ,We will need 4 times our existing capacity. 400 Gigawatts from 100. Where is all this coming from when the wind stops . When we get nothing from wind for 12 to 24 hours. What will we do? Batteries will cost £30 trillion so not a chance, only increased gas power and nuclear will do . NOT A CHANCE.

    The phrase "fossil fuels" evokes emotional response, but what should be addressed is the way we collect energy from it, and the byproduct released. Isn't there technology out there that can do something to alleviate that? Then, we wouldn't have an issue.
