Way to roll frankie! You landed on your feet bro, in Northern cali! Thanks for bringing your grouchy pragmatic optimism to California and showing us westerners how it's done without using gasoline!
what an awesome job. that idea will spread like wildfire, seems to be a lot more gravity feed videos showing up lately and your twist is a great addition thanks for sharing good luck
I’ve been a subscriber of yours for a little bit… you are a freakn genius!!! You should patent something like that. Seriously! Can’t wait to get out to the river. My last stop was NM. Dry river bed. GPAA claim
Nice set up. I have had great success with a gravity dredge set up here in New Zealand. I used it just like a suction dredge. No digging or classifying. Just vacuumed up all the material. Was a 4" set up. You are putting in a lot of physical work for not much reward apart from being out in a beautiful spot out in nature. You have been beaten to the gold but you did well to get that ounce. Mind you, you have to be out there doing it to have a hope of getting anything. Good for you. John from New Zealand.:)
California prospecting is hoping that the guy before you was messy and lazy which doesn't seem to be the case most of the time LOL I had a treasure map for this spot showing where the cracks in the Bedrock were and how many ounces came out so I knew it was a shot in the dark just seeing if maybe they left something behind. It's nice to hear you're also using gravity dredge and having good luck. I got pancreatitis back in New York where I lived doctor told me if I didn't walk everyday I was going to die I found walking very boring so I drove out to California to start looking for gold back in 2012. Bought a little land, built a little shed living off grid 100% capturing Rainwater and enjoying my time running around these Hills. Good luck to you John, thanks for the nice comment.
Seems to me you should find more gold in you bucket than your sluice, basically making a fluid bed out of the bucket and the sluice is there to catch what the bucket misses.
Nice set up, my only thought was you have to figure out how to rid yourself of the rooster tail of water as the water and cons enter your sluice, odds are you lost gold for sure.
If you put a screen over the top like a roof, dumping the big stuff each side of the bucket, ACROSS the current, you'd be building a dam across the creek, raising the head height, and pressure. Just dump it through.
I wonder if you made the holes less around the sides, and a bit lower if the bottom dirt would move a bit faster through the hole. I have a fire hose and buckets with big holes on the bottom, I like this idea because many times one can find a place to put sluice, but not enough water flow. This is like a silent water pump. Great idea.
I made this on the fly, after running the gravity I didn't want to go back to classifying & feeding the sluice . classifying and feeding kills my back so I made this in the morning after a quick thought ...I made the video because I couldn't believe how well it worked I'm glad people are finding an idea to use themselves from it. Best of luck to ya's
Simplicity at its best, congratulations on your step saver. If there was a way to turn it into a vortex as the water entered the bucket, might help it float the light material out faster. Somebody else stated that you're probably leaving the gold at the bottom of the bucket, and I can see that totally happening. Who needs the sluice!
put another pipe up stream so you can dump more water straight down in the bucket ---- put a valve to control the water flow -- great design --- simple and effective
That is genius. May I inquire what the gradient you had from feed bucket to sluice, or how much higher above the sluice was the feed bucket. and how far away the sluice was to the feed bucket. Absolute genius love it.
Thanks a lot, I don't remember exactly what the drop was but I'd like to say a couple feet I use this thing often it works well but every spot is different and the 1st day is always the hardest On getting your area set up but after that it's smooth sailing It's definitely a back saver for me.
Yo If there’s gold where you got the ounce but no gold just down stream , then go up stream until it’s not producing , then go back to the best producing spot on the creek then work up the hill. Because that’s were it is coming from. I’m almost certain
cool invention I am working on a prototype myself just need to get out to the beach and give it a run. seems to be more productive than anything out there. bet I could get 20 ounces a day off of the beach in Nome with very little effort. might see this marketed someday if not i died before it could be brought out to the public.
I catch a lot of gold in the bucket that doesn't even make it to the sluice. And if I was trying to keep it in the bucket I would raise my hole up another couple inches, but I hope it works for you out there I'd love to see a video once you get it going , good luck to you.👍
How much is the hose? It pays itself off in the long run but its an upfront investment, isnt it? relative to whatever small cost is in a pump, a battery, recharging, etc. Also, i think if it was bigger the risk of disrupting the flow, creating high and low flows downstream is reduced. Something to watch.
Not really sure on the price anymore,....no mechanical or mechanized mining in California where I'm at so the hose works legally, but as far as good gold spots go you got to take what it gives you being that you're using gravity. I mostly use 2 or 4 inch .good luck to ya though.
Bro did you come up with that bucket idea yourself?? Cuz if so it's brilliant!! Hope you don't mind but I'm gonna have to give that a try sir. Thanks in advance
I hope it works for you I made another video called bucket test or something like that and it has me throwing different types of sticky clay in the bucket and it just dissolves. It's definitely a good helper in certain situations , good luck
You got the ounce up there and little to no gold because it all dropped out in the upper section. Like gold in our sluice. Not enough flow to push it any farther.
Not to criticize ! I say this to help you increase your finds. 1st. Find all the info you can. About hydrodynamics. Also. When your looking at an area. You have to remember. It's not what you see today. So much. But. What took place a million years ago. The reason. There was no gold around that Boulder it was resting on other big rock. Allowing the river to blow any gold out from under it. It's not a true low preasure area. Hydrodynamics. !
Way to roll frankie! You landed on your feet bro, in Northern cali! Thanks for bringing your grouchy pragmatic optimism to California and showing us westerners how it's done without using gasoline!
What a great idea. Love how you made classifying easier and feed the box at the same time
That's an awesome setup. Great concept and it works for low water Sluicing. Thanks for the video. 🇺🇲👍😎⛏️

I like the bucket idea ! You may have a use for a pvc Ram Pump in prospecting ? No gas ,No electric and easy to build .
@@divergentthinking8324I think it would make a good video? With 2 pumps I think you can alternate them for better consistency?

You are correct , one of my video shows there was more gold in the bucket than in the sluice and bigger pieces too.
@@divergentthinking8324 Now if you can tweak it to catch it all in the bucket! that would simplify a lot!
This is what I was thinking too.....definitely cleanup that bucket🧐😁
good idea, looks like it would work good on clay too.
Nice set up, my only thought was you have to figure out how to rid yourself of the rooster tail of water as the water and cons enter your sluice, odds are you lost gold for sure.

We have done exactly that in some places. First day is always the hardest .

If the hose was flexible n still work this be crazyyy

Great Video
This is low-key genius.
🤣
Thanks
@@divergentthinking8324 no probs, mate
Verry cool brother!
Good job bro 👍
Maybe have the hose at the bottom of the bucket where the circle is at the bottom.
I like it!

bucket to bucket hummmm
Put a round matt in the bottom of that bucket.
Try Gold Phenoms gravity panning give it a view
