    The big problem with Favors is that he never really had a good situation. Stuck behind a pair of borderline all stars early on, then always playing next to either Gobert, who couldn't space the floor, or Kanter, who tried and failed to space. He would've been a great glue guy for a team that needed a center, as shown when he got to New Orleans

      @williefaulker 2 года назад +29

      I might be a bit biased here, but I always felt like if he got drafted by Philly instead of us drafting Evan turner, his situation would have been much better. We had a much bigger need for a big man at the time, we already had Thad Young and Iggy, who played similar positions and styles as Turner ,and we had Dru and Lou williams. At the point, so et couldn't even really play there. That draft still pisses me off lol

    I agree he is not a bust by any mean. He is a solid player. He just play for a wrong team, wrong position and in a wrong era. He drafted by a team who eager to fishing for established player, then traded him to a team with already loaded of senior bigs. Then the team drafted a good traditional center. The situation is always bad for him to flourish. But considering that he still able to be a productive player, that's insane. I cannot imagine if he really was drafted by team that really utilize his strength like Hawks or Mavs. Just imagine if he was drafted in 2020 by Hawks. Him,Trae and Collins will dominate the East.

    Jazz fans love Derrick Favors to this day. He may not have developed into the star expected, but he always played hard and he's a good person off the court. He's mostly pretty quiet and reserved, but he's been involved in a lot of charity work. Even when he was the constant target of trade rumors, he didn't complain or cause any problems. Ultimately, he just never developed the offensive game that would have taken him up a level.

    Actually was intrigued by the potential of a Brook Lopez/Derrick Favors frontcourt. Lopez is now considered a good defender but back then he wasn't. But one underrated thing about Lopez is that he was always good at boxing out his man to prevent an offensive rebound. So while he didn't have gaudy rebound numbers himself, it allowed his teammates to grab the board. Favors probably would have had some monster rebound numbers. And while Lopez wasn't a 3 point shooter back then, he had a mid range game to not clog the paint. Would have been a good complement for the other

    Life log Jazz fan. Favors is a bit of a disappointment in regards to what his career ended up being. Good defender. Good mid range. Just wasn’t as good as Rudy
    Also I met Favors at the airport once. The dude couldn’t be nicer. He is a legit bro and super good guy. He was loved by teammates. He was a hard worker.

    The nba draft is based off potential now you can score 5 ppg in college but if potential is high your drafted. Similar to nfl combine everything is off what could be but most players aren’t proving anything

    Had he been drafted to a better franchise that utilized his skill set correctly to develop him, I could see him have a Robert Williams type of impact on any given team

    I really liked Favours, but as you say He wasn't a Pf he was a solid in n out center. Jazz in those years were a pf/c graveyard always having the next player in line on roster

    He’s a great player, just not what you want from a top pick but hey some top picks don’t even make the league for more than a few years

    He's earned $120 million in the league. He'd wipe his tears with $100 bills if he watched this.

    Favors was a very productive player for years with the Jazz, yet barely anyone talked about him at all. He might be the least publicized No. 1 prospect ever.

    I understand Favors didn’t live up to the superstar hype but at least he had a solid career, so I rather take that then being a scrub. Imo, I think if favors was utilized more, he could’ve been the next Al Horford or the next Al Jefferson
