That means there's no accessory belts because everything is driven electrically such as the water pump, power steering pump to the AC compressor. It is an electric motor sandwiched between the engine and transmission. When the transmission spins, it creates electricity to store in a small battery that allows for electric boost. The battery in turn can supply power to that motor which turns the engine on. It's why there's no starter noise and why stop start works so well. The electric motor itself spins the engine up immediately from where it left off. I love this system.
I couldn't imagine even being allowed to drive such a beautiful Mercedes AMG SUV. I love the GLS and G63 and the new S580 interior is out of this world. Maybe some day I be able to afford to rent one of these for a few days lol.

This GLS63 will tow 7700 pounds, which is just enough for my enclosed trailer and car.

Other manufacturers, like BMW or especially Ferrari, are a little more reluctant. It all depends on the PR branch and its press fleet access rules.
No doubt it will ride and handle amazing but those monoblocks look nothing like what they offered in the 80s and 90s. They just look like something you'd get for your winter tire package. MB should have left that and hopefully there are other wheel options.
BMWs cars are all faster than Mercs, don't let ur bias for Mercs overshadow that when saying AMG is making cars up there with porsche. porsche stands alone unfortunately but BMW is the only competitor near them, excluding supercars
