One thing you're forgetting is the grip...thumbs over the bar. This alleviates undue stress and pressure on both forearms, making for a much more proper execution.
My gym just opened back up and man, I really missed training back. For 3 months using stupid small dumbbells, it's SO hard to work your back from home. No better feeling than using these lat pulldown machines and seated rows :D

I believe starting point should be upright but as soon as you pull towards yourself then do a slight tilt back for the pull. Still ends off with upright position as well. I would imagine doing a real pullup then mimick that same motion when seated.

I dont know why the more i do lat pull downs, the more i am hyperextending my back, and i have discomforts on my upper back and sometimes lower back.
