With the explosion of colors, korean cultural references, and the over the top things in the music video, it’s like a big FU to the narrowminded haters that just blab their mouths trying to make them hate/be ashamed of themselves. They are gonna be unapologetically loving/accepting of themselves, sending the message to us that we should also be proud of who we are too.

The “gentle” voiced singer you refer to is Jimin. And as we ARMY say “once you Jim-in you can’t Jim-out”, lol! You should really watch “A Guide to the Bangtan 7” by Taylor Mari. This will give you a good background on how they got started and insight into each member. You have only scratched the surface of the Bangtan discography…they have over 400 songs (including member solo projects)! You may want to look at Mic Drop and Black Swan. Blood, Sweat and Tears is not to be missed but you should really get a feel for their style before you watch that. Loving the reactions so far!!

56 yo Army here saying hi! My daughter introduced me to BTS 7 years ago and this guys are on a different level. They write & produce their songs, sing, dance, they are humble and on top of that they are the best role models for youth. Never seen anything like them in my whole life.

There is no song like "Idol" in concert. Highly recommend you find a live performance of it. There's nothing like being in a crowd of 50,000 people all screaming "YOU CAN'T STOP ME LOVING MYSELF" at the top of their lungs, over and over in this song (a close second is when the crowd at SUGA's solo concerts this summer was chanting "I love, I love, I love myself...I love, I love, I love myself...I know, I know, I know myself...yo playa haters you should love yourself, BRRRRAH" with him over and over)..
Also, BTS was getting a lot of hate for being too westernized, using too much CGI (most of their videos, outside of this one of course, use mostly practical effects so that was a false claim), etc. So, this is their answer - very, very Korean (there's an explanation video by DKDKTV that explains a lot of the Korean references) and nothing but CGI except for the members (and probably some backup dancers).

actually, this song is deeper than you think and the MV itself is an art. This song's whole concept is about “IDOL” identity and being an idol for yourself, rather than anyone else.
Dynamite and Butter both are good in their own way. But their old songs are something else. The meaning behind every song even MV will blow your mind. That's why you have to pay attention to the Lyrics and MV as well. But before that you should know about the members and about BTS. You have to be broad minded while listening to their music. Just chill and enjoy the music fullest. It gets better and better.

BTS had a trilogy of albums named Love Yourself: Her, Love Yourself Tear, and Love Yourself Answer.
It'a a great idea to watch the MV, then rewatch for the subtitles. That's what I do myself. BTS almost always have a deeper meaning in their lyrics. Some of the deepest songs are total bops. Their lyrics are VERY important. 💜

Also BTS' history is so interesting, they basically started as a punk K-Pop boy group and they slowly shifted to their style they have nowadays that's truer to who they are! A lot of the songs are also completely written by them as well, which is NOT always true for K-Pop groups! I'm not the biggest K-Pop expert but I do know my BTS boys 😂 It would be great if you reacted to some of their dance practice videos too, they're a lot of fun and it helps show their personalities more. Jimin is a vocal angel but some would argue his best talent is dance because he's an amazing dancer. When you watch it again- or a dance practice or something, watch Jimin when they start that last dance bit. There are three things that are eternal-- death, taxes and Jimin checking his 3 to make sure he doesn't clock V in the face.

Jimin, the face and voice of an angel. His vocals from Dynamite introduced me to BTS back in 2020. You will have to watch an intro vid, never rely on their hair colour LOL. BTS have the most eclectic discography of any artist, they have just about every genre and so many of their lyrics are about positivity and being yourself. One of my favourite songs is Lights.

It would be interesting for you to watch the video, A Guide to BTS Members: The Bangtan 7, which focuses on each one individually and will give you an idea of exactly who they are, and the time of work and talent of these guys, which June 13th makes 10 years since their debut, the group is composed of 3 rappers and 4 vocal line and yes they have a lot of dancing performances, it's worth taking a deeper look
You just happened to watch two songs where Jimin did the bridge but it doesn’t matter who sings it because every vocalist gets a chance to sing wherever in a song.

They cross many genres. The group is made up of seven very different guys who have become a family and they all honor that variety and work like mad to make music that appeals to a very wide range of folks. If you are going to keep going for a while, you might want to watch a guide to the group. The videos are a little long (ten years and a LOT that went on even through the pandemic because they love their fans), but it really helps to get everyone sorted.

Fun little backstory to this MV - at the time, people were criticizing them for "using too much CGI" in their music videos (they were actually just using movie-quality practical effects lol), so they went overboard with the video editing for "Idol" on purpose, as to say "you want to see CGI? Here you go STFU"
