A very very wise man once said “the more you know the less you have to carry. The less you know the more you have to carry” It’s amazing how little gear you actually NEED to just go out and have a good weekend especially in great weather. Can’t wait for the tarps to come out so I can upgrade really looking forward to that great video as always my friend.
Holy cow where has this channel been hiding?? I just now stumbled onto it. I'm into traditional muzzleloaders therefore my survival gear is for the most part 18th century. What you use is pretty similar to mine. I like to go old school like you. I'll go check out your other videos
Sick setup brother! I really dig the idea of a wash bowl! I to really like having clean hands. And just having done a bushcraft shave video and just using an eating bowl a collapsible wash bowl would be mint! 👌🏻
Very curious why you prefer 80/20 wool blankets. You also mentioned 70/30 but no explanation. Having always heard 100 wool was best, I never thought about it but I'm sure there is a good reason. Comfort, drying, shrinking, weight, cost, availability, etc.? Thanks from a new sub.
thanks so much for coming by and the sub i appreciate it. The blends retain less water, have a higher threshold for shedding water and yes are lighter they also dry faster. Great question! Make sure you check out my instagram and give me a follow and anytime you have a question send me a message i love community interaction.
If you are referring to the pig tail set lots of different companies offer them, just a fast google for cast iron pig tail cooking set will do the trick. Thanks for coming by my channel I appreciate the support 🙌🏼🌲🌲
Great video, very helpful descriptions and ideas here. I was unable to make out the make and model of that cast iron pan, could you detail that so I can Google it please? Thanks in advance!
Ok, very nice and good stuff! The problem is the weight of all this! The modern materials are not as sexy but they are much lighter and confortable. However, after years of innovations in new matters, we realize that Merinos wool and duck down and feather are still the most technical materials that exists… so there is the for and against! Nice video, anyway!
First thanks so much for coming by i appreciate you, Second it is titled very clearly that this is a " traditional " kit obviously referring to the old school approach and using older traditional gear. I have a " modern " kit video up that i think you will enjoy.
@@traditionalcampcraft ok I understand… for myself, I also love traditional materials like leather and waxed canvas. I used them daily with my shoes, wallets bags and jeans. I love the fades and stuff with a history and long terme livings. I put a lot of money and energy in it… But for hiking, I like when it’s light! I live in the mountains and sleeps very often in the wild… But it is true that these matters have a soul…
Modern plastic stuff sucks. If you had a modern light weight version of this kit it would last you maybe a season? We as working men who want to enjoy an outer want good quality bomb proof gear that will last years. The only new age stuff I like are new stainless steel pots so you don't have to worry about them falling to bits in your fire. Oh & foam mats had mine for over 20 years was given to me by a soldier.
Hello just stumbled across this channel and like it very much. Just curious where the bedroll cokkset is made I am currently looking to buy one to add to my kit. Thanks for what you do and keep up the awesome videos.

You can't sit in the smoke by your fire all the time. As for layers, the mosquitos in Upper Michigan are only slightly inconvenienced by then.@@traditionalcampcraft

@@traditionalcampcraft now that is a shame
Question !!!
Why do you prefer 80/20 wool blanket over 100 ?
Thanks for coming by my channel and watching my content I appreciate you, it is lighter and easier to clean and retains its shape better than 💯 wool

It may be a dump question, but 80% wool and 20% of what? I have seen all kinds of mixes, from cashmere to polyester and so on….
Great question! typically a poly blend, Thanks so much for coming by my channel i appreciate you!
