Catherine Deneuve is one of those rare brunettes who looks like she should have been a natural blond. When I saw that first picture of her with brown hair, I couldn't believe it was her. I have always thought she had at least a darker blond shade naturally. Also, all of us from the 80s and prior have had that regrettable blue eyeshadow moment. Catherine D got classier as she aged.

I know right my hair is bleached and lord it's horrible :( I'm a classic or soft classic I tried other hair colors nothing fits me but blonde my hair naturally is like dirty blonde well it was but I think now that I'm older it's getting darker with the roots but yeah my hair is dead I like that you pointed her hair out I saw that to and I was like hair envy !

Yes, she's a icon like Grace Kelly. And, like Grace Kelly, she's a classic and not a soft classic. She has a lot of angularity in her face and body. Not soft AT ALL ! However, the Aly's video is kind. I love you, Aly. But Catherine Deneuve is not a soft classic.

My kids are mixed but don't take after my skin tone I'm white but when I look at these details of women and they are white I can't see my kids in any of them so I can only imagine how they feel . Aly, this came at the perfect time for me! I was just researching about her style as I’ve been in search of the perfect hair for my soft classic features. I’ve always loved the 1960s and the clean, tidy hair of that decade definitely suits my face much better than this fringe I experimented with during quarantine! 😂However, it was difficult for me to find 1960’s hair without bangs/curtain bangs as bangs just disrupt the line of my rounded face, but then I came across Catherine Deneuve who was a verified soft classic from the 1960’s! Very clean lines with her hair and no bangs. And THEN you released this video! As always, you’re a God sent!!! ❤️

    • @jillianwickham31
      @jillianwickham31 2 года назад +14

Hi. I’m a SC. It’s more about the weight, sheen, and details. A crisp cotton button-up shirt, for example, is best when the corners of the collar are slightly rounded, not necessarily like a Peter Pan collar, but the edges are softened, and the buttons are mother of pearl, and the shirt isn’t overly starched. Even better if the shoulders are slightly pinched or gathered, neither cleanly seamed nor super poofy. I’m still learning. Soft Classics seem to really sing in pieces that are subtly ladylike and these types of pieces end up looking super put together on us instead of overtly prissy.

I’m sc, (pretty sure at least lol) and my natural hair grows in this weird stripey looking color way, I have natural platinum highlights and then really dark brown low lights. A french fashion taste, I don't mean that of specific french designers but the more widespread, 'typical' french style (muted colors, soft sheen, proportioned cuts, thin stripes red or blue etc.) goes very well with soft classics.
I noticed that many soft classic examples are french actresses. I'm partly french from both my parents, and a soft classic. I wonder sometimes if there's a slight genetic component to the types.

Maybe this is just my unsophisticated opinion, but I actually don't think she suited the "baby-doll" look of the late '60s. I think her face is so womanly, elegant, sophisticated that it didn't suit her body while in those dainty doll dresses. I think in some instances it made her face look older. To me, I think she really came into her own, and felt most in her skin in the 1970s and beyond. Either way, eternal beauty and style icon.

Thank you for this video 😘 maybe you will find some knitwear at moss copenhagen, mbym or gerry weber :) but I think it depends on the season. 💓 I love the kibbe series and I think I am a classic, but this isn‘t my vibe currently. Maybe later, but for now I have colored my hair blond with highlights and like to do heavier Make up, it is the complete opposite of what I „should“ do, but I feel super confident in what I am doing. Sometimes I have that feeling, that the things that would suit me best are boring, because I am classic. So for now I am experimenting a lot 😄 maybe in the future I will dress like a classic :)

You should do style-icon, Sharon Tate, the late actress. She was beautiful inside and out, probably the most beautiful woman ever, but very ahead of her time in fashion, yet her styles are so classic.

In the picture with the Chanel #5 bottle Catherine was photographed by Helmut Newton or a protege of his. That's how you get that picture with the red lips and the shock feel. Yves St Laurent was the designer of the time and her very good friend. If you see the French Vogue of the time you will see the same photography style from Helmut Newton where he used flash and introduced vulgarity into the fashion photography world. In my opinion. Even the sublime Catherine.

You didn't mention Deneuve's clothes in Belle de Jour by YSL! They were trend setting! She was his lifelong muse and she wore his clothes constantly.

Great job on Catherine Deneuve , 90% of what we saw her wearing in your pictures was Yves Saint Laurent…. And you managed to never mention it once … interesting…. Again great job on the actress named by American press in 1968 the most beautiful woman in the world … there has been very few who got that title …. And Deneuve is still turning movies after movies … some 140 movies for the Queen of French cinema . . . *****

Everything is beautiful for these actresses until the 80s. Some of those looks are a bit cringey. I say this as a child and lover of the 80s.

I had a question about the types, what would happen to each type if they were put into a corset? Such as if you were to put a dramatic into a corset with waist emphasis would that make them appear more curvy in the center or would it look strange in comparison to the rest of their body?

Very interesting. It might just be my individual vision, but I actually find her features, escpecially on her face...a bit mascular? Like her bonestructure in her face is very visible and a bit strong in my eyes. I thought that soft classic is supposed to be more delicate.
Probably this is why I can't decide which type I am.
My question is, is this a 'problem' within my perception, or what I see is exactly what SC is and I just believed it wasn't?

  • @lovelyA933

Katherine is gorgeous but she gives me more of a gamine vibe for some reason. Might be the 60's hairstyle, since that era was very gamine ish.
I'm Soft Classic too but I don't follow the recommendations for my type anymore. They never seemed to work for me. Now I follow what I like and feels best on me, which does still align with some soft classic tips interestingly enough, like the minimalistic approach and simple makeup.

,Hey Aly its your favourite classic rock pop Malc here, its obvious you are all a talent dressing women but what about me? I am 65 as you know but am still wearing joggers and rock t shirts!!, I. am useless with fashion now and all my life, if we meet and I realize its a big if you could dress me how you like. Unfortunately I am in a Britney Spears situation because I've had mental health issues, I've got thousands of pounds but am only allowed 75 pounds a week because years ago while unwell I signed away all my money from the sale of my house to my sisters and now they don't contact me!!! HELP!!!
