Over half an hour wait for food well was it worth it. Your pie looked superb Lee although I’d had mustard with mine as a preference. Paige’s burger looked good and came with French fries but double cooked chips really? I agree just cook them first time round. Looks a nice place anyway.

No currency change in Britain but some are profiteering from the inflation "normality" by increasing prices even if it is not economically necessary. They just do it. Now that I know you are a graphic designer I understand the "Ratners" style thumbnail to attract viewers. Very effective and I do not mean that in a bad way.

What would be interesting would be to pick out a smallish town like Mansfield and then go and grab a fish and chip takeaway from every single chip shop in the town and compare the prices and the quality! Just take one particular meal and round up all the different variants and see what you can get for your money. Many years ago, when I was still living in the North East, there was a fish and chip shop takeaway near to me that we used to use on a weekend, nothing fancy, a really greasy joint. One weekend they were burgled, (can't imagine much to nick to be honest) But, as parting finale, one of the burglars decided to take a huge dump in the deep fat fryer! The guy that ran the chip shop just got his sieve, scooped out the offender, and then fired up the fryer - never even changed the oil!

I think you would have an idea of the prices they charge by the cars in the parking lot. I loved that brand new Landrover as well. I'm not a big fan of string beans, though. Otherwise, I'd give it an 8.5. Paige's burger did look good and tasty. I'd give it an 8.5, too, for the burger.😊.

Great video guys. You're both spot on with what you say. Both meals looked nice but the plate fillers on Paiges plate were ridiculous. There's no need for them. I'll give Paiges burger a 7.5 and your pie an 8.5. I quite liked the look of the chips to be honest but my main issue were the prices. £43+ for that with only tap water is way too high in my opinion. Glad you both enjoyed though and thanks both for sharing👍
I agree pie looked nice and the pastry looked melt in the mouth, the chips looked nice but looked more like fries, not thick enough, the gravy needed more depth but was nice and thick, the burger looked delicious. 😄

A gastropub (my spelling checker wants me to say gastropod, but you were not required to crawl around on your stomach) supposedly is a gourmet experience. Gourmet prices but you ordered ordinary fare that for the most part, you could get anywhere and waited far too long, considering that the place was fairly empty. The food looked great though. It was probably gourmet because they added a few snow peas to the garden peas. Most restaurants overcharge for soft drinks which is why I never order one.
I nearly went to this place a few years ago, until I saw the prices. However, it may still not be cheap, but I thought what you both had looked ok. I'm with you about the unecessary extras and pots on plates but I thought the pie and gravy looked great, as did the chips, but like you said, I prefer thicker chips too and I can do without the mangetout also. If I went here, I have try the fillet steak I think, but seeing that pie now, it would be a toss up. The car to have out of those two, would obviously be the proper petrol one.

Paige's lunch was a bit disappointing and she was correct they could be bit more generous withe portion. Lee you pie looked delicious and a proper portions but they could improve their plate with proper cut thick chips. I agreed with both the scores you and Paige gave.

The menu descriptions get more fancy, they separate your meal out into little pots to hide the portion size, and they hike the price up. All of that is fine if that's what your looking for, but I'd prefer something less fancy and better value. 7 out of 10 for me.
