    My stepdad bought a Renault SUV EV 2024..he had it 3 days and it went into limp mode 3 times and he brought it to the were he bought it..After an hour they gave it back to him and said they couldn't find anything wrong with it..he drove it for a mile and it went into limp mode again..he rang them to tow it back and now he's getting a duster with an engine

      My experience. Had a Vauxhall Insignia diesel which consistently would go into limp mode which was not ideal with the motorway driving I was doing, had to drive that for 4 years as it was a company car. Then I had a Skoda Octavia diesel that would randomly decide to slow me down when attempting legitimate overtakes. The Citroen (yes a French car) we have now has worked flawlessly, even in the freezing temps we've recently had.

      Renault have suffered electrical problems for years & as more & more electrics have been added its just been more to go wrong. I owned a Renault cabriolet. Top of range car with every available extra. Sensors were always failing, randomly went into limp. It devoured 3 throttle body's in 3 years. When it wasn't breaking down it was a lovely car to drive. 2 litre engine had plenty of poke. But the constant electrical issues just became to much. A Renault EV??? Scary

    In Sweden we had a huge snow blizzard recently on a normal type M1 highway (look up E22 snow blizzard). Some people had to stay in their cars for 24 hours as lorries blocked the road with tires not suitable for winter roads. Mostly the diesel and petrol cars coped running their engines, but not the electric cars that had to be towed away after a few hours.

    • @neilgodwin6531

      "Six catch fire on a carrier". I assume you mean a transporter. Carriers are big boats carrying jet planes.
      I used to work for various companies running transporters all over the country.
      Six did not catch fire. One may have and it damaged five others. The transporter itself may have caught fire, it's not unknown.
      Vehicles have always caught fire, I wish I had a pound for every time I've heard of a lorry fire or "vehicle fire" on the M5 and M42 in traffic reports over the last 50 years.
      This is an example of facts being twisted to fool the gullible into believing EVs are more prone to fire, and even worse, deliberately implying six simultaneously ignited.

    The salesman didn't know his product very well. I've had my ipace for almost 5 years and it has 101000km on it. Only problem that wasn't software related was an air-conditioner sensor.
    I agree it's a gorgeous car, second only to the Taycan, which wasn't available when I bought.
    The travel range has been pretty consistent around 400km in summer and around 370km in winter and the degradation so far is about 7%. Australian temperatures where I live rarely drop below 12deg c. The charging infrastructure is terrible and has been since 2008 when I made my electric mx5. Although there have been more chargers available, they aren't keeping up with the number of evs, and the out of service chargers are forever a problem.
    But, all this infrastructure isn't a big concern to me because we charge at home and when we go on a road trip, no big deal, I'm retired.

    EVs are ok if you have a home charging point , 300 miles range is good as most normal people wont go more than 50 miles a day unless they are commuting to London and back from Birmingham or even further up north , Hydrogen is much better in my opinion once they figure out how to make it cheaply

    • @TB-up4xi
      @TB-up4xi 8 месяцев назад +1

      Hydrogen is dead and a terrible idea for cars en-masse unless they can solve 3 problems (which seem at this point intractable):
      1. How to make enough to supply cars en-masse WITHOUT passing electricity through water - using electricity to make Hydrogen then using that hydrogen to power a fuel cell vehicle is only 40% as efficient as using that same electricity to charge a battery and power a car directly, a hydrogen ICE car is 25% less efficient again than a fuel cell.
      2. An effective delivery system - a typical hydrogen station costs $2.5million USD per pump and can only service 40-50 fills before it needs to be refilled itself.
      3. The cost of fuel cells - if you thought battery replacement was expensive Toyota want $100k to replace a fuel cell in a Mirai.

      - at "normal charge rates" - ie 240V 30A (7.2kW split phase max) it takes a long time to charge any "properly sized" BEV.

    • @djtaylorutube
      @djtaylorutube 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@kadmowYes but the iPace is woefully inefficient so needs 12 hours @240V to advice about 220 miles (or less on the cold).
      A Model 3 with the same range specs has a 60kWh battery so is >30% faster to charge, 8 hours Vs 12.
      Equally the same degree of economy,
      The iPace max charging speed at rapid is also hampered.
      Even if someone is driven by "quality" of a car that's actually NOT made by Jaguar but outsourced, and even if they shrug at the charge cost, they can't improve on the time taken.
      Each to their own of course but being informed about a decision is key.

    • @djtaylorutube
      @djtaylorutube 8 месяцев назад

      @Yorks2000 That's understandable and all depends on the intended use. I went Tesla not because it's attractive (don't call my baby ugly! 😉), nor because of other comparable points but my choice was in the tech and reliable and consistent cross EU charging experience for road trips.
      If the main use is within range of the car from home charge, then indeed any EV will do and the attributes you mention will be of higher significance in decision making.
      Out of interest, which Tesla did you try? It's commonly noted that the best combination for Model Y is the 19" wheels rather than the 21" and newer cars are also supposed to have a softer ride.
      I'm used to a taughter ride but yes, some roads do feel crashy. My best car for those is a1976 classic car riding on 70 profile tyres. 🙂

    Best place for an EV is left on the Dealer Lot. The coal industry is probably hoping EV's take off because more retired Coal Power Plants would need to be turned back on to keep up with power demand. Heck here in the USA they can barely generate enough power without EV's. This is the time of year where EV's do not fair well even here in the Metro Atlanta area which is currently in a cold snap. I have to drive by the Tesla Chargers not far from me to see if the chargers are working or not.

    I had an I pace 3.5 years very beautiful car but not efficient at all 220 to 240 range.Now have a Tesla MY which is nothing like the IPace quality it is a very well designed EV.
    But not as efficient as the Tesla MY the App is incredible and a range of around 320 in summer I find it to be a very engaging drive.I have very few faults with it the main one is not being able to find the door handles in the dark.😀

    • @issachunt3418

      Same here in England. Night rates seem to be 7p to 10p depending on your supplier. It's if you can't charge from home ie you haven't got a drive it's very expensive for eternal chargers. Can be 70p per KW. More expensive than petrol. So I'd only recommend a EV to people with a home drive way.

    Most Americans (I'm one) don't drive long trips, average commute is about 30 miles. The country is so big, most people fly rather than drive 3 days straight to get to the opposite coast. Btw, he can lease a Cadillac Lyriq (full EV) for $479/mo, probably $500 less than the Jaguar I-Pace on monthly payments.

    • @davidorr6627
      @davidorr6627 8 месяцев назад

      So why are there so many videos of people in the USA who have done 100,000+ miles in their Tesla's. Maybe in the cities some people don't drive much, but would you rather drive across the USA or risk flying on dodgy airlines in planes that have self-ejecting doors? Not to mention the absolute guttertrash you have to sit next to in the planes.

    There are stories reported of troubles people were having with their EVs in the cold weather environments. Range reduction and increased charge times were consequences from the recent polar vortex that hit the US in the past week.
