Quick and to the point. Excellent! Did you notice any ping/rattle from the rear suspension before the swap? I have a 2018 Raptor and notice the pinging rattle when going over bumps/potholes. Thx!
Kind of. But this truck saw a lot of trails so it was more offroad abuse than anything else. Also the Deavers tend to be stiffer so they introduce some rattle as well.
Hi Guys, what a great and fun video. I love how you let us know exactly what tools we are going to need to tackle a job, what a time saver !! I just spent the entire day rearanging, cleaning and organizing my garage to tackle my complete 2013 Raptor suspension upgrade. I have Deaver +3 leafspings coming and my rebuilt 2.5 Fox shocks with new Eibach springs from the Forged Offroad guys. I saw that you removed the exhaust system for ease of filming and installation and I am thinking about doing that. Would it help to remove the spare tire ? My plan is to do the rear suspension first. It appears that I will be receiving my Deavers first and hopefully shortly after I should be receiving my shocks. Would it be best to wait for the shocks and do the rear suspension job all at once, by removing the rear shocks first then the leaf springs and installing in reverse order ? Thanks again for all your work and I applaud you for working with your sons - you guys seem to have a lot of fun :) Tim
Timothy Lelie removing the spare tire and exists gave us a ton of space when it came to install the springs. Specially the exhaust. As for installation it’s best to do together. If you have the jacks and stand, it can be easier to just remove them both, then install to Deavers and finish it off with the shocks.
I did Takeoff shocks. Rebuild with shipping cost about the same. This way it’s less truck down time. I’ll eventually have the original shocks rebuilt and do a swap at the next 50k miles.
Aden Seay the leafs springs do a good job of limiting side to side movement on the Raptor. Combined with the shock placement the side to side movement is minimal to none
Jack Brink I could not get agreement in the forums on the proper torque specs. Some said 150, other said 75. So we went with the german standard of good and tight
Matt Adam it’s just easier and more stable to leave the tires on. On a jack the truck can destabilize a bit as you use the bottle jack. And it’s one less thing to put back on when your done.
Yes there are a few options depending on where your based. Tons of options in Cali. Let me know your location and I can offer some options. If you prefer, you can also shoot me a DM on Instagram and I can offer some options
You have a few options then. On the high end you have KDM. One of the best but they have high cost and long wait times. I used Onyx shock service in OC. They are affordable and quick. They can even do same day turn around in stock shocks if your shocks are in good shape. Look at my Gen1 Rehab suspension video description for how to contact them. And lastly you have Forged offroad in NorCal. He has takeoff in stock and can do a swap. For quick service. But since he’s not local to you, you have to ship them
Thanks Helio! Great job! Love the kids in the video! You sure are raising them right! Ready for the next run bud!
Thanks man. It’s important to me they learn to work on their own cars.
Thanks for video, just did mine.
Great footage, great illustration and instructions. Keep up the good work Helio!
Thanks guys. 🙏🙏 Really appreciate all the support.
great video! do you need an alignment after this?
No. As long as you don’t move or disconnect the lower control arms, you don’t need an alignment afterwards.

omg i’m so dumb i used straps and cut the straps. i’ll be buying a bottle jack. i’ve seen u before thanks u so much bro
Matt Adam many ways to do it. Strap and bottle jack methods are probably the most well known.
Great vid. Did you rebuild the shocks yourself or sent them out?
I did Takeoff shocks. Rebuild with shipping cost about the same. This way it’s less truck down time. I’ll eventually have the original shocks rebuilt and do a swap at the next 50k miles.
What keeps them from breaking when the rear axle goes side to side?
Aden Seay the leafs springs do a good job of limiting side to side movement on the Raptor. Combined with the shock placement the side to side movement is minimal to none
Keep It Dirty Off-Road oh okay I’ve always wondered how those leaf springs could hold all that weight and not let the rear axle budge
What are the toque specs for the top and bottom bolts?
Jack Brink I could not get agreement in the forums on the proper torque specs. Some said 150, other said 75. So we went with the german standard of good and tight
is there a reason you left your tire on? u can have the tire off right
Matt Adam it’s just easier and more stable to leave the tires on. On a jack the truck can destabilize a bit as you use the bottle jack. And it’s one less thing to put back on when your done.
Is there a company that can rebuild my old shocks ?
