This looks like a 90’ movie I mean common, a G-wagon got those tire deflated/inflated system on the inside of the rims.

Unfortunately, often times the axles are not prepared for such installation. Drilling the axles afterwards is very expensive or impossible. This is an alternative solution for such a situation.

I wonder why not design an internal inflation/deflation system instead? I'd be very worried of the exposed air hoses getting caught in brush and pulled off.

An internal system requires prepared axles which are very expensive. If the truck does not have those drilled axles there is no possibility to have an internal system installed. This solution can easily be retrofitted to any truck.

Not bad traction wise but terrible body creak and twist (hope the chassis is made from spring steel :-). The pneumatic pipes are extremely vulnerable anywhere, but the wide open desert. Nice touch having the dustcaps swinging about in the dirt until they are refitted (full of sand).
