    Great, thanks Jonathan! Appealing prices on those 40 kWh LEAFs. Good job on the ZOE for Rebecca!

    This is making my wallet cry after buying a pre used n-con leaf at the peak of prices during lockdown. Still I know how I will be buying my next ev. Thanks for these auction blogs. Really useful. Perhaps the computer aided pricing needs recalibration.

    My second car is a used Zoe on 2 year pcp with a 21 plate. The guaranteed value is higher than auction price so I will probably hand it back and get another electric, possibly a Zoe.

    My goodness, Leaf prices are low at auction. I've been checking Auto Trader for weeks for a 40kw 2018/19. Auction must be 20% cheaper! Thanks Jonathon

      Good time to pick up a cheap Leaf 40 now. Market is flooded with them. Most dealers will probably negotiate on price I reckon.

    Hi Jonathan. Very interesting, thank you. I was thinking of getting a 50kwh Zoe but as the 40kwh Leafs are going so cheap at the moment I'm tempted by them. How does the range in miles compare?

    • @JonathanPorterfield
      @JonathanPorterfield  4 месяца назад +2

      Ive seen 200 miles range from my 114,000 mile 50kWh Zoe , a 40kWh leaf will do around 140 miles on a good day

    Thanks for the video, very interesting and informative. We need to get a test drive of a Zoe then may well consider coming to you to bid for us. How critical is service history when it comes to warranty ? The Renault dealer i made a tentative enquiry with really did make a point of the importance of service history and warranty ?

    • @JonathanPorterfield
      @JonathanPorterfield  4 месяца назад +2

      Main dealers are bound to say Service History is everything , as they earn from these 'services'.
      Failing to change the pollen filter , or top up screen wash does not damage electric components , brakes need checking etc , but again failure to check these wont cause a motor or drivetrain to fail !

    • @yellownev
      @yellownev 4 месяца назад

      @@JonathanPorterfield Thanks for the reply... it's more IF there is a motor or drivetrain failure will any warranty be honoured if there is missing service schedule is my concern

    • @decimal1815
      @decimal1815 4 месяца назад +1

      Check the forums for common faults in the Zoe and then calculate the risk. If prices are low enough it may be worth it. But you might also end up with an expensive part failure. Probably less likely with low mileage EVs though.

    Great content 😀. Our Zoe 40kw Sig Nave has just had its 7th birthday. We are intending to buy a replacement (any model up to say £25k cash) using your services. Not in a rush. Have noticed that Shorham car auctions is not accepting new lots as their facilities are full. Does that imply that demand across the types of cars is weak?

    Jonathan, do the cars have a battery condition report? I would have thought that this would be better info than tyre depth etc.

      Battery health reports should be a legal requirement for all used EVs.

    • @turriffterror3881
      @turriffterror3881 4 месяца назад

      The cars systems already hold the info on the amount of battery degradation. Amazingly, not one single EV manufacturer thinks that info would be of interest to a buyer. How strange...

  • @johnbrown3471

    Manufacturer warranty is nullified without full service history. Hence why most of the cars didn't make anywhere near book.

    • @JonathanPorterfield
      @JonathanPorterfield  4 месяца назад +2

      I beg to differ ! If a motor or gearbox fails , failing to change the cabin pollen filter and top up the screenwash 'on time' will not have caused a motor to fail or an onbaord charger to develop a fault.
      To date im yet to hear of an ev warranty claim being refused due to a lack of service history

    • @decimal1815
      @decimal1815 4 месяца назад +1

      @@JonathanPorterfieldKia will refuse claims when the service schedule hasn't been met, apparently.. and there are some expensive parts that can fail on eNiros and Konas.

    • @JonathanPorterfield

      @decimal1815 our demo e niro at Reflex is 3 years old , and 20k miles never been 'serviced' its just had ( due to noise) a new gearbox / drivetrain , and motor replaced under warranty by kia , they never asked to see the service book !

    • @johnbrown3471
      @johnbrown3471 4 месяца назад

      @@JonathanPorterfield I was referring to everything else on the car, not the drive and traction battery 8 year warranty. These too can also be compromised/argued over by some main agents if necessary software updates aren't carried out at some services. I have been advised by Renault, MG, Kia, Jaguar and Vauxhall that warranty claims can be rejected on a claim by claim basis if service schedules aren't followed, including the traction battery etc. MG and Kia are well know for disputing warranty work.

    • @decimal1815
      @decimal1815 4 месяца назад

      @@JonathanPorterfield is that because you're a dealer though - do you think private owners would get the same treatment? The warranty terms are quite clear about requiring regular servicing, genuine parts, and recommended service intervals. If a private buyer takes a fault to a dealership on the warranty aren't the dealership going to try anything to avoid paying for an expensive repair? Some parts can be £7k or more including labour.
