      They are ex lease cars. The leasing companies know the business they're in, and they tend to move 2 or 3 year old cars on, so they can refresh their stock.

    From what I have seen, these prices are hardly the cheapest. For old tech, slow charging, they are what you might expect. All of these older tech EVs are brilliant as cheap runabout / second cars. Buying an EV at £6k and saving £1,500/yr in petrol makes good financial sense.

      On the whole there's a lot less to go wrong on these.
      You can rag the socks off em and it wont do any damage unlike blowing the head gasket on a petrol or diesel.
      No turbo to go wrong, clutch to burn out, engine to run dry of oil or timing belt to snap (highly unlikely with such an age car with the belt but you never know)
      Plus these will all have warranties on their batteries because of their age.

    • @Brian-om2hh
      @Brian-om2hh Месяц назад +2

      A typical EV has around 25 to 30 moving parts, so repair/replacement costs are usually minimal. A typical ICE car has thousands of moving parts...with timing and fan belts, gaskets etc which need replacement. A Tesla has *no* fixed servicing requirements......

Can I say it’s the most uneconomical EV I know! 50kw battery but motorway Dunfermline to Kinross, Kinross to Perth and return then back to Dunfermline and drained the battery from full to 20%. My 38kw Ioniq would likely be on 70% (around 120 miles left). I know there’s a huge drag coefficient difference but ong, Vauxhall could do better!

    CHAdeMo chargers are starting to get hard to find, although a few new ones are still being installed; however for under £1,000, you can now get a CHAdeMo to CCS2 adapter, and the prices ARE dropping, expect it to be £500 ish by next year.

      Chademo are easy to find in UK. They are everywhere. In fact I am trying to think of a charger location, except tesla, that hasn't got them. But outside of the UK the story is different. It would be pointless to but one of those in the UK at the moment even at £500.

    • @ianemery2925
      @ianemery2925 Месяц назад

      @@wonderingworld119 There are lots, but many are single charger locations; very few with more than 2; and there are big gaps between locations with 2 or more; especially if you are in an older car with sub 100 mile range.
      The Cotswolds only has 2 multi-charger locations right now; one at the northern end of the A417; and one off the A40 at Brize Norton - both the rare NEW installs.
      There are no multi-charger locations at the M25 Motorway services after Brize Norton, all the way to Gatwick, and only a single charger between just south of Manchester and Birmingham, heading south (loads going north).
      I have had a lot of issues with single charger locations; from being stuck for over an hour while an old Leaf charged to 100%; to having the charger decide it only wanted to charge at 8 KW.
      I dont live in the Cotswolds, but if I want to get to London, it is the only viable safe route for a sub 100 mile EV with CHAdeMO; and I had HUGE issues when both the A417 AND A419 were closed entirely over Easter, and I needed to get to Gatwick.

      Most points barring Ionity and Tesla have them and they’re still going in new. It is normal though that if there is a set of 6 units only 2 will have a 2nd cable for Chademo. Just more cars using CCS and given they have the “so debilitating range and battery life” it’s unusual to find more than 2 leafs out and about charging at the same station at the same time.

      You can generally check battery health if you're allowed access to the keys.
      I tend to think you can guesstimate if it's been rapid charged much by looking at mileage and age.
      A healthy car with 250 mile range will travel about 150 miles a day Monday to Friday keeping it within the 20-80% bracket.
      That would make a 1 year old car have 39,000 on the clock with just a home charger.
      Also if it has a type 2 to 2 cable that looks well used. Anything above that has probably had rapid charges.
      Let's not forget lfp batteries that don't mind so much being rapid charged and charged to 100%.

The car has now covered 34k miles, with no further faults. I still have over 4 years of the original warranty left to run. And what's this "money pit" nonsense? My last service cost me £68. You should be happy people are buying EV's , every ev on the road means 1 less car at your petrol station, and when less petrol/ diesel is bought the price goes down (remember covid when diesel and petrol dropped to 99p per litre) so all the ev drivers are helping ice drivers lower the cost of motoring.
      I own both an ice and ev and there is no question an ev charged at home is over 50% cheaper to run than a diesel, however I will keep a diesel (berlingo van) for ,well van stuff and emergency long drives if they pop up.
