My Ringneck is super quiet, only ever screens if I leave the room and close the door behind me but if I give her a snow pea before I leave the room she will stay quiet because she is distracted enough and I guess to her giving her that before leaving the room means I will be back shortly. Same as if I leave my phone in the room or bring one of her food or water bowls out because then she knows I will be back. The rest of the time she is really quiet, she quietly chatters to herself a bit when playing and growls and hisses at toys but is overall really quiet. A lot of the time my housemates even forget that there is a bird in the house because they don’t hear her, they only remember when they see me preparing food for her or when I bring her out of my room. Most of the time she is also just free in my room, she’s the only animal in the house so I could bring her out of my room more often but my roommates aren’t very good with birds so I don’t really want them harassing her and they normally leave the front door open. Anyway overall Skye is an adorable and very very quiet bird. She’s also super cuddly and constantly begs for kisses from me but is terrified of anyone else because no one else puts in the time to gain her trust.
When my father was a kid he always wanted an Indian Ringneck. He never got one, but now he helps me TA,e care of an adorable cockatiel when I’m at school C:
I’m also in school but with my living arrangements I don’t have anyone to look after my Ringneck so I just spend all of my free time with her, do homework and assignments after she goes to bed, clean up while she’s playing or on weekends, let her just stay in my room while I’m at school so she has more space and more to do than if she was in her cage. She is honestly never really in her cage I mean, she plays in it sometimes when her favourite toys are in there or she just wants to be on a certain perch but she’s never locked in her cage. My bedroom is bird safe like when I leave in the morning I put all cords and other potential hazards away and as soon as I get home I just go straight to cuddle time. She spends most of her time on the curtain rod or the toys and swings hanging from it. She sleeps on one of the swings hanging from the curtain rod which is super cute
I’ve been fascinated with Indian ringnecks for quite a while, wanting on myself ever since I discovered them. It’s interesting to know these facts I’ve never known myself. Thank you for making this
It is important to note, especially if you want them to have that beautiful ringed look, that ONLY the males acquire the fully developed rings. The females might get one, but it will be far harder to see the coloring. The one I rescued is an albino and female. Pretty rare to find one like her from what we've been told. It is also highly important to check with your local jurisdictions regarding captivity laws and if your area permits ownership of that species, regardless of which breed you get.

Hi there! I’m worrying about my budgie recently, on his left wing around 1-4 of his secondary feathers look to be frayed? I’m not sure how this has happened as he hasn’t had any incidents that could have damaged his wing. I thought it was moulting at first but it has gotten worse and has been like that for 2 months. I don’t know of any avian vets around my area and I cannot check myself as he hates being touched or grabbed. Can anyone give me advise on what to do or what’s happening/happened? Edit: He is fine in his behaviour and personality and he still eats and drinks as normal.

Hello! Why yes you can! As long as they have acquainted well! Try keeping them in “quarantine” cages next to each other and let them out next to each other the first few days, then if they are friendly towards each other that’s a great idea all together in a big cage! Of course if they are already besties and friends there is no problem. You could skip this if you really wanted to but I recommend it. As long as they have enough room and can hide from the other one if scared it’s fine! Great question! Wish you luck on your new birds! I have budgies too and they are fun but a handful! Enjoy!

@TaEcHWiTa yeah well a lot of the ones there are probably wild caught so would make sense that they are cheap. Aviary ones here are $30-50. I’m only talking about hand raised ones when I’m saying $200
