Ryan Gosling plays a role where he is a corporate product forced to play an accessory role, a replaceable, disposable role to a corporate product he believe he loves. I’ve done Barbenheimer twice. I highly recommend Oppenheimer first. After the bummer ending, Barbie is just the right palette cleanser. Also recommend Oppenheimer in 70mm and Barbie in Dolby if you can.
Without you and your coworkers efforts, I never would have heard of the Incal or any of the other badass graphic novels to which I should pay more attention. You're awesome, Danika. Keep up the solid work, you're the best of the best and should be applauded.
Most people either love Barbie it to death, or hate it with a passion, so congratulations on presenting one of the most nuanced reviews I've seen yet! I'd forgotten how much I missed your posts. 👍 Poor Ryan Gosling probably had to diet for 6 months for that one shirtless scene. All the poor guy wanted to do was have a root beer and a slice of pizza, and you're like "No, I want more shirtless scenes!" 🤣 In the movie, Ruth Handler says "We make up things like patriarchy and Barbie to deal with how uncomfortable it is to be human.” How would you interpret that?
I laughed when she said that. I agree with her statement. Its confusing in the context of the film. Is there a patriarchy or is it just a made up idea??
Ethan Van Sciver has an interesting review/take also. Worth watching on his Comic Artist Pro channel. At the end he makes the point that the movie (the creator of Barbie) says that there is no patriarchy, it's just something ppl use as an excuse for their poor choices, or something to that effect.
How Nolan took a real man’s life and was able to connect real things that occurred to him in one chapter of his life vs other parts of his later life, and build a narrative, is mind blowing to me. 🤯What a legend 🙏
Nolan is a genius but to be fair a lot of that work was already done for him with the fantastic book which this film is an adaptation of “American Prometheus” by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin. But Nolan’s ability to translate that book to screen and have it feel the same but completely fresh is amazing!
Hey Danika, great breakdown. I love the way you think and, yes, "i am Kenough!" My fav tagline of the year. I'd only add that I think the return of the Matriarchy was only narratively prmoted as a good thing because it's Barbie's movie, but the President's reaction to having a Ken on the Supreme Court is our reminder (without overt commentary) that ANY "archy" leads to us vs. them. There was no resolution, nor answers. I loved it for that. I think the movie celebrated men too in its own way, and I WILL WATCH a Ken In The Real World sequel!!!! ❤❤❤
As a woman who went to film school I understand where Gerwig is coming from with the Godfather bit - I found it hilarious. It’s one of those cliche films men assume you haven’t seen and insist is life changing cinema. The ending for me wasn’t validating matriarchy - it was reinforcing how ridiculous Barbieland is. I thought that’s why Robbie’s character wanted to leave - so she can grow and explore. That’s why she’s not out to conquer the world in the last few frames of the movie - she’s just going to her first gynecologist appointment 😂
I just think that, if it was a critique, why wouldn't barbie voice her disagreement with going back (more or less, not exactly of course) to how things were. She could have said something if she disagreed. But she stayed silent, and then left. Satire is difficult, but I don't think it was really pulled off here, maybe they should have been a little more explicit with the messaging.
This is Why I love Danikas videos. Its never just a movie review. Its not just her stringing pearls. You're not just gonna get a 3 out of 5 rating. You're gonna get a whole philosophy on how the experience is an allegory of your life. And side note.....I've never seen the Godfather. 🤷♂️
Speaking of Beverly Herbert, the other famous from-the-shadows name that comes to my mind is Marica Lucas, who won an Oscar for editing the original Star Wars (and edited ESB and ROTJ as well.) Mark Hamill thinks one of the big reasons the prequels floundered where the original movies soared is they didn't have Marcia Lucas to edit them. Many people allege Star Wars was *saved* in the editing.
not sure Editing could have saved them. They went full on Hanna Barbera cartoon for so much of the action, alien characters, and I don't just mean that One.
@@niallrussell7184 Tough call, because there's the butterfly effect (GL did II a lot different due to the reaction to I, and III a lot different from the reaction to II.) People have made prequel fan edits that have improved on the trilogy experience as a whole, though.
my expectations from any Scifi are just so low now, after so many "hmm.. maybe I'm not the demographic.." realisations. I'm really hoping Dune Pt 2 is good, but I'm so so tired. Please can we have a win.. just one! lol
My older brother showed me the Godfather and many other fantastic movies. I completely agree with you, it's a beautiful thing. I show my husband movies and vice versa. Those memories with my older brother are super fun and probably helped mold me in understanding that relationships with men can be awesome and beneficial. I now co-own a business with my husband and am an artist as well. He and TONS of other men in my life have supported me throughout both sides of that. I wouldn't be where I am today without the men in my life. I'm so sick of the man hate. Thank you for this video!
I've had so many men supporting me and cheering me on through life. Far more men being positive and helpful than negative or aggressive...and my negative experiences with men have taught me a lot and helped to make me wiser and stronger.
This was a great video thanks Danika! As far as the whole Women vs Men thing, from a man who has just observed a lot of behavior in his life: I feel like the power women have is so subtle and behind the scenes that it is hard to be noticed. Generally speaking I have seen women go over their preferences as if they're pointed towards a specific blue-print of a man: "tall, dark, handsome, confident, decisive" etc. All traits that build a leader and protector. And I've seen mothers train their boys (in good upbringings) to protect and serve, don't hurt girls. Be kind, be a gentleman, be helpful. So when all of that is turned back on men, and they're told that they're evil as a result of all that, mansplaining etc.. it's pretty hard to take, but it's also very confusing. Everyone in the cycle is damaged, not just men. *Commented before the video ended: I obviously find your Bene Gesserit observations interesting too! lol
I’m so glad to find your channel through Lizze! I’ve not seen either of these movies yet, but love how double features made a comeback and really enjoyed your review!
I did manage to survive it as well.I watched Barbie , then went on to watch Meg 2 & then Oppenheimer .One after the other all in the same day.I'm glad I went to see Meg 2 in between.I think it would have been too much to go from Barbie to Oppenheimer.
Appreciate the thoughtful take on both these films, Danika! Been watching your content since the GOT days and always find value in your perspective and love your passion for the arts, literature and dramatic content. (Side-note: my playwright's brain thinks an intermission in Oppenheimer would work after the bomb is dropped and RJO's surrealist speech in which he imagines the horrors of the bomb's impact. It's between Act 2 and Act 3, marks a strong emotional beat for RJO, would give the audience a chance to process and reset for the final act that moves into more of a courtroom drama and focuses on RJO's clearance hearing, Strauss's smear campaign and his eventual fall in his appointment hearing. But I agree that this would have affected the ripple-like momentum that Nolan setup with his editing.)
Danika's reviews are very well thought out and that is why I keep coming back to listen to her critiques. She is a great role model in reading so much literature and holding different ideologies in tension, analyzing and elucidating each problem, then applying a solution (or solutions) based upon the problem's unique circumstances.
As a guy who's kinda struggled with acquired programming most of my life to some pretty devastating effects, this review was delightful. I had a huge grin on my face and couldn't help but burst out laughing a few times, I found your insights very compelling and entertaining. What a great review, damn... That's why I have been following you for more than 10 years i think, glad to see you on this "I love everyone mindset", you're the best
There were Siddhartha-like elements to Barbie's quest that I found so interesting lol…Achieving a sort of doll enlightenment and transcending into personhood after becoming self-aware. Even coming into contact with her creator. Personally would have loved to see a “choosing the middle path together” type of energy to the larger conflicts but 🤷🏻♀
I think you interpreted Barbie as being more anti-men then it really is. Ken's story is just as much about battling the expectation placed on men, as Barbie's is of expectations on women. In the end, Ken's resolution is about realizing that he is (K)enough without having to be the perfect expectation of a man. The reason Ken feels the need to create a patriarchy in Barbieland is because he's suffered so much under the matriarchy of Barbieland that the patriarchy was a revelation to him. That's why convincing him that he is (K)enough and doesn't have to live up to male gender expectations, doesn't need to be with Barbie, doesn't need to beach, etc... The matriarchy of Barbieland is meant to represent the inverse of the patriarchy in the real world. Both are portrayed as fictionalized extremes and not meant to represent the actual real world. The film is commenting on the real world via the counterpoint between these two extremes. I believe that counterpoint is something along the lines of "Gender expectations and imbalances of power between the genders are harmful to our mental health and fairness in society." In the end, both worlds come a little closer to the middle, to fairness, but progress is slow and we only do a little bit at a time. I do agree that the Photoshop joke, while funny, didn't quite work if they were trying to show mansplaining. She asked him because she genuinely didn't know. That's not mansplaining. Mansplaining is when a man over-explains something to a woman on the assumption that she doesn't know because she's a woman, even if she didn't ask and chances are she did know already or could have figured it out. They should have had Ken just butt in and show her something even though she already knew what she was doing. I do also think the patriarchy of the real world as represented mostly by Will Ferrell fell a little flat and could have been done better. I feel like a more capable and imposing CEO would have been better. Someone like Brian Cox or something. If he had been in there hamming it up, but still bringing genuine menace when needed, I think it would have been a better dynamic. I could have done without the overly cartoonish running around Scooby Doo sequence of Barbie being chased through Mattel... this was supposed to be the "real world" compared to Barbieland, right? It should have been more realistic, with comedy drawn from witty dialogue and such more than cartoonish antics. Save that for Barbieland. Overall, I agree that it's a bit of a weird and muddled movie, but I don't really think it's as anti-men as you, and some others... mostly of the conservative variety... have claimed it to be. It treats Ken as a victim of matriarchy in Barbieland as much as it does Barbie a victim of patriarchy in the real world. It does have a more overt feminist message overall, as it is meant to serve a feminist purpose in the _real_ real world, where we do live under more of a patriarchy than matriarchy... not to mention that Barbie is the main character, so it's naturally gonna focus on her more... so if it seems like it gives more credence to Barbie being the "hero" while Ken is relatively sidelined or painted as the villain when he's at his worst... then I don't really see that as anti-men, so much as just the practical demands of the story and the feminist theme it's focused on. It really is a fallacy to assume that focus on feminism is inherently anti-men. You can criticize the conventions of patriarchy without being anti-men on an individually personal level or anything like that. The degree to which Ken is used as a symbol of patriarchy once he embraces it, or as a symbol of victimhood of gender expectations, or a victim of matriarchy in Barbieland... isn't anymore dehumanizing or disrespectful to men than Barbie being used as a symbol of matriarchy in Barbieland, or a victim of patriarchy in the real world, etc... This is how storytelling is done. With symbolism. Not being literal. So you shouldn't take everything the Kens or the Mattel board men do as a literal comment on what "all men" are like or something. It's just symbolism of the concept of patriarchy.
Just want to say thank you to Danika for your amazing content and perspective. Your videos have really helped to open my mind in some great ways that have payed unimaginable dividends. Thank you

Didn't have time to watch the whole thing right now, but have been missing how Danika's brain works. Watched the first and last 5 minutes. SO glad that I did. Going back to work with a smile and brain candy.
Love to see you posting again as I've just discovered that you have been. Just keep it cheap and simple. You don't need an elaborate production. I enjoy your wit i, insight and your narratives. Keep it up!
"Don't cry. Only girls cry and show emotions. You should be masculine, sportive, strong and show no weaknesses. You can't take job of your dream, only financially stable ones to support family. You should strive to reach high hills in life whether you want it or not... because a real man always has ambitions" - I can think about dozens of examples of social pressure men have to deal with, so thank you for being one of very few who actually highlights it.
I haven't watched either film yet but am glad I watched this just now. You were talking about appreciating men and "Kenough". As I've entered my 30s as a black gay man from the south, there is so many ideas of what men should be and shouldn't be. It's overwhelming. I'd like to learn how to do what that meme you showed said. Empty myself of all things and fill myself with just me. Thank you.
Omg! You articulated perfectly everything I think failed in the Barbie movie. And my Barbies had sex lives as well and not with Ken, because I didn't find him attractive, so I found other doll alternatives too! 🤣🤣
My thoughts on Barbie exactly! Everyone I know loved it but I was confused the whole time. I kept waiting for there to be more to it, and was surprised it wasn't being intentionally ironic.
I got the joke of them being clueless to sex, since it's supposed to be the imagination of a child who doesn't understand sex. But even the most sheltered little girls understand romance and kissing. I think the joke would've been better if they were a couple, but their intimacy was comically innocent and maybe even simulating the limitations of stiff dolls. Like kissing is them literally mashing their faces together with their arms held straight out, and they are incapable of holding each other. Like the dolls.
Didn't at all feel that Barbie was anti-men. Thought it was quite a fun satirical take on society and the social constructs that we have today. The movie to me just tried to break down all these unhealthy ideas that society pulls down on both men and women. Also, in the end of the movie, the narrator says "that the Kens would in the end get as much power as women hold in the real world." or something along those lines. Which I found pretty fun since the movie shows us that barbieland isn't perfect in any way. AND with that point making us acknowledge the distribution of power in our real world. Just wanted to point it out since you touched on it in the video, but felt it was a bit misinterpreted. I dunno, I really enjoyed the movie even with some of the more hamfisted /on the nose writing... Also loved Allan so much!
"that the Kens would in the end get as much power as women hold in the real world." Yeah, except that the movie's depiction of the "real world" is also cartoonish and disingenuous. They had to pretend that there were no female SCOTUS members or Mattel execs, not to mention that you'll get ogled, catcalled, and sexually assaulted instantly by men. Oh, and arrested for defending yourself against said sexual assault, which was utter BS. Also, the "Patriarchy" in Barbieland was also confusing. I wasn't under the impression that men sharing information, interests, and affection with women was somehow oppressive, but okay. "The distribution of power" in the real world isn't something that is just delegated or handed around, it's something competent people win through competency and extreme effort. Nobody is stopping western women from obtaining power or getting paid what they want.
Thank you for that amazing Barbie analysis! I keep feeling like the odd woman out for loving Oppenheimer and thinking that Barbie was just... kinda meh. People have told me that I just missed the point of Barbie, and that the whole "I am Kenough" gives men the validation that the system hurts them too... but the Barbies kept the Kens in that system. I really couldn't get over the part where they basically sabotaged them from voting - that really bothered me. I've also heard people say that Gerwig wasn't setting out to make an inspirational movie with a happy ending, but she is rather showing the realities of the world as it is now with the script flipped for men and women. I'm not sure that the movie can both validate men's feelings about unfair societal pressures on them as well AND set out make them uncomfortable at women's reality. I'm sure it can be done, but this movie ain't it (if anyone has suggestions about media that does do this well, please share!).
There doesn’t seem be a lot of people who figured out that the Kens were treated in Barbieland the same as feminist scholars preach women were treated forever. I think the idea is to make it easier for men to relate how would their life be if the roles were reversed. If men who watch the movie come to the conclusion that kens under patriarchy was better they are implicitly agreeing that a feminist revolution would make for a better world
Hey Danika, an old fan from all the way back from that Prometheus video you put out so long ago. Always a joy to hear what you have to say, even though for some reason I didn't like either of the two movies, it is interesting to see what you thought of them. God bless you.
My niece destroyed all of her Barbie’s within days after she’d get one. My sister had to enforce a rule she could not draw, cut or melt her new Barbie for at least a month hoping to save Barbie’s lifespan . Needless to say it didn’t work. My niece is going to love weird Barbie. 😂
Watching this about 1,5 years later i suddenly got a flashback to you mentioning the "Divine Masculine" and "Divine Feminine" on a stream once, and i wonder if you could possibly perhaps maybe potentially do a video explaining those concepts? I tried watching a couple of videos on the subject and read about it, but i really have *_zero_* experience with anything within that kind of spirituality or philosophy and i just sat there with question marks above my head. In my experience you have a real knack for explaining advanced spiritual concepts in a way that make sense, for example I remember watching a video you did about Flex Mentallo and that suddenly made me understand the character way better than when i tried reading about him online 🙏🙂
Danika message needs to be heard by more people, profound and healing at the same time... I have yet to watch the Barbie movie, waiting to watch with a friend and really enjoyed Oppenheimer. Took my nephew to watched and had one of our best conversation ever after it...
Fantastic video, Danika! Greatly appreciate the fellowship towards men. The admiration is mutual. Nolan is the Kubrick of this generation. Ellie Frazetta handled Frank Frazetta's business arrangements including owning his work and prevented him from capriciously altering many of his masterpieces to preserve them. Another influential lady behind a Greater Creator! Thanks for mansplaining "Barbie" to me so I can avoid the frustration. I had no idea what little girls were doing with their Barbie dolls! I thought it was all tea parties and baking cookies! Lol. Have you seen the latest "Mission: Impossible"? Any chance of a review with the troll? Have you seen Prism's amazing fanfic rewrites of "The Force Awakens" and "The Last Jedi" right here on YT? It's great stuff using the existing raw materials and nothing from Legends. He spun gold from straw! I'd love to hear your take on them! Any chance of an Epic History of Hickman-Era Krakoa X-Men?
I remembered struggling with the Barbie movie when I watched it, and your review helped me realize what were the problems I had with the movie. As such, I thank you very much for this review. I am glad that I pulled off Barbenheimer, but I do wish my experience with Barbie had been more enjoyable.
Whenever i hear "mansplaining" 95% of the time is literally just a communications issue because women tend not to care about finding out anything about how men think and function. The way men bond and socialize tends to be talking about hobbies and interests with a borderline competitive element. I.e. we speak almost as if we're trying educate each other but we're trying to convey our opinions to our friends regarding said hobbies, and if someone has a differing opinion then they will overtly explain why they have that differing opinion. So whenever men talk to women the same way they do to men, there's a high probability of a miscommunication where she might very well think he's trying to mansplain something to her, but he's just trying to bond with her the same way he does his male friends.
I agree with you. Fortunately, I am a woman that understands our differences and can successfully have conversations with men. Women will sometimes talk to each other in this way but we aren't conditioned to recognize it as "womensplaining" in the same way as we do "mansplaining". It also usually ends the conversation pretty fast and we change the subject. It's also just not how we approach conversation with each other from my experience. We often want to relate to each other and talk about how our experiences make us feel. I would also say in my experience, it is less enjoyable to compete and debate but that might be more because I have a less competitive personality. **I'm also amused that as I type this that "mansplaining" didn't pop up in spell check as a misspelling but "womensplaining" did** 😆
It's been a while since I watched one of your videos, I totally forgot how awesome this channel is, this was the best breakdown of Barbenheimer I've seen so far
Seen both of them. I would say do Oppenheimer first. Barbie is kinda lighter and makes a heavy movie like Oppenheimer go down easier. And on the barbie being anti man or something.... Did not feel it like that for me
Well said. CBG19 - a national treasure. So cathartic to hear someone saying what I'm thinking better than I ever could. I'm yelling at my phone "Yes!" & "Exactly!"
I think you should rewatch Barbie because it DEFINITELY talks about how hard and dangerous and unhealthy the patriarchy is for men as well. Ken has a very hard time discovering who he is because of it. And Barbie actually apologizes to Ken for putting him through his feelings of inadequacy. His role in Barbieland satirically reflects Women's role in society in 1060's America and I thought it was handled very well. As a man, I felt seen as well.
Thank you Danika...if we start accepting each other men and women and respect our differences then all will be good. Assholes and bitches exist in both genres. You are realy a modern women and you should run for president. I would vote for you but regreatably I'm in Canada :(!
Barbie is both a big critical and commercial hit, which means all of the worst people possible are going to take all of the wrong lessons from its success. There's something to be said about the marketing vs the movie itself, but I've seen enough of the movie to steer clear of it. That aside, I liked this video and it made me consider going to see just Oppenheimer this weekend.

The movie reminded me a lot of Citizen Kane, which I would say it strongly resembles, especially in its use of jumping narrative.
Never thought when I saw Momento years ago this would be the same guy making these type of movies. Good for Chris.
Speaking of Beverly Herbert, the other famous from-the-shadows name that comes to my mind is Marica Lucas, who won an Oscar for editing the original Star Wars (and edited ESB and ROTJ as well.)
Mark Hamill thinks one of the big reasons the prequels floundered where the original movies soared is they didn't have Marcia Lucas to edit them. Many people allege Star Wars was *saved* in the editing.
We Stan Marcia! There’s been many great female film editors
not sure Editing could have saved them. They went full on Hanna Barbera cartoon for so much of the action, alien characters, and I don't just mean that One.
@@niallrussell7184 Tough call, because there's the butterfly effect (GL did II a lot different due to the reaction to I, and III a lot different from the reaction to II.)
People have made prequel fan edits that have improved on the trilogy experience as a whole, though.
my expectations from any Scifi are just so low now, after so many "hmm.. maybe I'm not the demographic.." realisations. I'm really hoping Dune Pt 2 is good, but I'm so so tired. Please can we have a win.. just one! lol
@@niallrussell7184 I hear you.
You never disappoint, Danika!
We need more Danika's in the world, more nerdy, wise, and infectiously joyful people.
Really, what’s some acquired programming you’ve dealt with?
In all the years following you, I've never been 100% in agreement point per point with your views and opinions on tv, comics, movies or novels until now. It's like you are in my head. I'm both scared and happy ❤
Personally would have loved to see a “choosing the middle path together” type of energy to the larger conflicts but 🤷🏻♀
I think the sandals with lifts was Barbie choosing the middle path
It was interesting to me how Enlightenment to a plastic woman meant becoming human.
I'm so proud of you my dude! Excellent content as always! Can't wait for your Akira doc! Much love from Richmond, VA.
Wow loved how you highlighted the connection between these two films. Always love your in-depth movie reviews.
Hands down the best review and analysis out there from these two movies, thanks Danika, always a pleasure to hear you
High Praise. Thank you darling
Just want to say thank you to Danika for your amazing content and perspective. Your videos have really helped to open my mind in some great ways that have payed unimaginable dividends. Thank you
Excellent review, no need for flashy editing when the content is good. Danika is a natural storyteller, I just sit and listen like a little kid. GG.
🙌🙌🙌
This is one of the best videos you've ever done. You have such a perfect perspective on life and the world. It feels good to know that you feel this way. Saw you on the Nooner yesterday and was so excited. You crushed.
I haven't watched either movie yet, but I so much agree with your philosophy and outlook on life. Thanks for the reviews!
Thank you for coming back! This was a great review
Danika thank you for your work!❤
Completely loved your review of Barbie! Also your Oppenheimer look was sublime!
Danika based as usual and not just saying its woke but going into detail about why.
This was amazing, so glad I sat and watched this all the way through. Nothing better than listening to you give thoughtful analysis about stuff you’re passionate about
Didn't have time to watch the whole thing right now, but have been missing how Danika's brain works.
Keep it up!
Thank you 😭
Our Queen is back, folks, at last! Simply can't wait for your Dune Part II review, Danika, it's gonna be lit.
So glad to see this channel still posting with the same level of ambition since the early 2010s WOW cant believe its been that long!
Thank God she’s back! We missed you Dani, finally a barbenheimer review that makes sense
Always love your videos! Been watching for almost a decade - wow! Great indepth & thought provoking review!
There's so much PRESSURE to make MONEY
@@comicbookgirl19 absolutely!
Loving your analysis, so calm and insightfully deep.
Thank you.
The ending of Barbie isn’t about all the feelings, it’s about accepting life even though it’s finite and full of suffering.
Omg! You articulated perfectly everything I think failed in the Barbie movie.
And my Barbies had sex lives as well and not with Ken, because I didn't find him attractive, so I found other doll alternatives too! 🤣🤣
A little light bulb just went on as to why my sister would steal my GI Joe.....
Fantastic review. Good to see you’re in a better space and thriving. ❤
Thank u for this Danika, much love ❤
I miss you gurl. You werethe first RUclipsr I follow. Keep making vidoea please
After listening to the first minute and a half I'm wondering has anyone made a Barbenheimer drink yet? An Oppenheimer with a Barbie chaser?
Whiskey Sour with a Pama-spiked Pink Drink.
Drink in whatever order.
LOVE your Berbenheimer outfit! Against the pink, that color brown is GOLD!
My thoughts on Barbie exactly! Everyone I know loved it but I was confused the whole time. I kept waiting for there to be more to it, and was surprised it wasn't being intentionally ironic.
Love this. Good to see you on RUclips again! Missing your crazy robot friend(s) but so thankful you’re doing content.
Loving your pad, loving your reviews, loving your look gurl! Keep up the amazing work!
Aaaaaaay
Finally found someone who understands what the fuck is going on
We stan Allan haha
Oh my goodness I haven't seen you on my feed in so fucking long, Danika! So good to see a new video from you
Not going to lie, I've been around since almost the beginning, and Danika is still my RUclips crush ❤
NEED that shirt BTW.
Refreshing as always! Love you Danika ❤
Amazing reviews!
Always a pleasure to see and hear you... and love the DUNE shoutout.
There doesn’t seem be a lot of people who figured out that the Kens were treated in Barbieland the same as feminist scholars preach women were treated forever. I think the idea is to make it easier for men to relate how would their life be if the roles were reversed. If men who watch the movie come to the conclusion that kens under patriarchy was better they are implicitly agreeing that a feminist revolution would make for a better world
Thank you for the putting out these intellectual insights. Please bring back more movie reviews I'm sure many people enjoy them
Hey Danika, an old fan from all the way back from that Prometheus video you put out so long ago. Always a joy to hear what you have to say, even though for some reason I didn't like either of the two movies, it is interesting to see what you thought of them. God bless you.
I'm always happy when comic book girl drops new content. Very good review as usual
Yes, girl, YES, girl, PREACH.
Great reviews. I can tell that you put more thought into your Barbie review than any of the movies creators. Keep up the good work!
Barbie is the perfect way to send the message of superiority over equality.
I miss your reviews!!! so glad to see this
Dude. Thank you for being so rad. Strong people don't push down, they levitate and lift everyone around them.
Great review. Love the Frank Herbert and Alan Watts references. The discussion on sexuality in Barbie made crack me up. Wholesome holism.
I knew Danika would give me the based take, and not the contemporary societally-approved take.
This is why I've been watching your videos for the last 10 years. You're awesome.
Danika message needs to be heard by more people, profound and healing at the same time... I have yet to watch the Barbie movie, waiting to watch with a friend and really enjoyed Oppenheimer. Took my nephew to watched and had one of our best conversation ever after it...
Rockin' it again! Love to hear your impressions of these movies!
Top tier review. 💯
Danika once again dropping pure wisdom. Such a wonderfully balanced and thoughtful take. *chef's kiss*
I remembered struggling with the Barbie movie when I watched it, and your review helped me realize what were the problems I had with the movie. As such, I thank you very much for this review. I am glad that I pulled off Barbenheimer, but I do wish my experience with Barbie had been more enjoyable.
Ohh I watched your immediate reaction on instagram but I’m glad you decided to film some more content. Esp on this subject, watching now👏
Whenever i hear "mansplaining" 95% of the time is literally just a communications issue because women tend not to care about finding out anything about how men think and function.
Thank you for reviewing Barbenheimer 😭😭
Thank you Danika...if we start accepting each other men and women and respect our differences then all will be good. Assholes and bitches exist in both genres. You are realy a modern women and you should run for president. I would vote for you but regreatably I'm in Canada :(!
Your poor spelling is also regretable.
Such a great review! My wife and I sat down and listened to it and just had a wonderful time. She says: "Why can't we have friends like her!?"
I came out thinking that full patriarchy or full matriarchy are not the way to go
Great take on it! This is one of the most balanced, non biased reviews ive seen on this movie
This is true, but we can just give them stimutacs.
