I was 12 when this premiered on NBC & my classmates thought it was the greatest thing ever; right up there with Raiders of the Lost Ark!! In a world where fascism is trying to rise again, it's still relevant.
this show was absolutely ahead of it's time back in 1984...i was a freshman in high school..and loved watching this...this is when NBC started to take over as ratings champ! this was great back in the day...and you can watch the whole thing on you tube...
Flawed though the second miniseries was, and awful as the series proper became, this was among the best opening title music of anything on television...ever. Creepy, ominous and powerful. Great stuff.
This was the best theme song to the entire series (Franchise). DeVorzon created a masterpiece that is right up there with the Star Wars theme song, the Superman theme & all else. It deserved an Oscar for best Sound Recording, in my personal opinion. I'm in the process of working on a picture slide show based on the eighties series (mostly Jane Badler & The Final Battle).
I just realized that this is just Peter Gabriel's "The Heat" from the Birdy Soundtrack (Adapted from his song "The Rhythm of The Heat") played backwards.
Man, I was very young the very first time it aired and I was fascinated by that red V receding on a black screen, but most of all that damn creepy theme really used to freak me out !!! I think it was an evening and during the week-end or a friday evening perhaps; then I clearly remember that I waited for it to air the next day and it was there; but the days after, there was no more of it ! and I remember particularly well that I was disappointed, because the evening it didn't air, instead, there were like politicians talking in some kind of senate or parliament (not in the U.S., I was living in eastern Europe then) but no more ''V: The Final Battle'' the next evening as I eagerly waited for it to begin in front of the TV !!! ... I don't know why I still remember all these specific details, lol... It's only much later, as I grew up, that I understood it was actually normal, since ''V : The Final Battle'' had only three episodes ... But even though it was scary, I loved it; all the tension; that edgy, ominous theme; and all the rest was both creepy and exciting for the kid that I was ...
I remember how thrilling this was when it premiered - I'm talking the sequel, "Final Battle." Being in 7th or 8th grade, staying up until 11 p.m. each night (late for me - always needed my sleep and we didn't yet have a VCR), glued to the TV set. The first two V min-series had epic ratings, too. Now that there are 200 channels, we don't see TV events like that anymore other than the SuperBowl. I do miss that aspect of television in the past. Back then, TV brought large groups of people together. Still, TV today is way better than it was when I was growing up - so smartly written and engaging (currently into VEEP, SENSE8, ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER (better for its acting than its scripts) and watch reruns of 30 ROCK).
@@pussyfunk-stopputtingthepu2652 generally I don’t reply to others’ comments but I feel moved to do so. This is because your statements seem thoughtless and ignorant in the true sense of the word. You shouldn’t go around in life without anyone trying to help you. I’m writing from America snd we, too, only had three major networks at the time of this mini-series. The Fox Channel hadn’t even begun. There were public and local television stations in some cities and towns. The only constant was the networks CBS, ABC, and NBC. So we are alike in that way, sharing that experience with millions of others. Though you’re correct about the unscripted television programs that are popular to our masses - and I’m not about to judge my fellow citizens for their tastes as we are supposed to be the home of the free…they should be free to watch whatever they like. But with the many number (they are not countless, Pussy Funk, as there are finite amounts), it provides us many choices. Television’s source does not have to from America; I’ve watched plenty of engaging series from the various BBC stations. Also, compared to the plots of series past, the ones today - think of revolutionary television like 24, Lost, and Game of Thrones - require higher-order thinking skills. Finally, how the hell would you know what’s on television if you rid yourself of it 15 years ago, which would be 10 years prior to my original post?
Fantastic to hear this again .. EOCB got goosebumps @ 0:49 too .. was absolutely mesmerised by this program when I was 9/10 years old .. loved the sound of the lasers too!
The original V is best, here are top ten moments in V, 10 the arrival of the giant mother ship in the precredits 9 Julie Perish in conversion chamber in the cliffhanger of part 1 of The Final Battle 8 Robin Maxwell killing Brian with the red dust 7 Danial Burnstean getting the taste of his own medicine in the Final Battle part 3 6 the air dog fight in part 2 of V 5 the Star Child Elizabeth saving the Mother shio from destruction 4 the Arrival of Ham Tyler 3 Diana devoering a guinipig 2 the Birth of Elizabeth and the baby reptile 1 Mike Donavon ripping off the visitors face to revieal the true face of a reptile
One of my favorite parts is when Tyler pours the dust on the guys face when he's laying down on the carpet and says "Say goodnight hot shot" or something along those lines.
Just like your original comment is the best, here are top five mistakes in your comment : 5. It's Julie Parrish (and not ''Julie Perish'') 4. It's Daniel Bernstein (and not ''Danial Burnstean'') 3. It's called the mothership (and not the ''Mother shio'') 2. It's Diana devouring a guinea pig (and not Diana ''devoering a guinipig'') 1. It's Mike Donovan ripping off the visitor's face to reveal the true face of a reptile (and not Mike Donavon wanting to revieal ...)
As much as I love the original V and The Final Battle theme, I wish that NBC had allowed Kenneth Johnson to use his original storyline for The Final Battle; which included the arrival of the Visitors' enemies - the insect race called the "Zedti" - and Diana's gradual development of human emotion.
One thing that always pissed me off was how Frank Ashmore didn't get billing in the opening credits. Martin was one of the most important characters in the whole series.

It sucks that none of the major TV networks have anymore mini-series episodes like they did in the 80's. Its all nothing but reality TV shows now, no thanks to Snooki and Kim Kardashian.
"The Final Battle" was more serious, from any point of view. The worst is when they started to include that "stellar child" and the silly special effects when the kid takes control of the mothership...all that stuff. But well, the series considered as a whole is still much better than what they call the "sequel" to V. Like for the "new" A-Team and other sequels to many 1980s series; they've ruined the whole thing !
This sounds like the perfect theme to play with a movie about the 2016 presidential election and the day Prez T took over. LOL. So you know the V would stand for Victory when he’s toppled. 🤣🤣🤣
Your adherence to utter stupidity after the shitshow of the Biden crimewave and the ruination of the US under his defective collective must be mind-boggling.
It started to suck just right after the first episodes of the so-called mini-series, but it's normal : I've heard that part of the staff from "The Final Battle" was no longer involved after, even Kenneth Johnson and his associate (which name I forgot) had many disagreements towards the new staff, regarding the "mini series" I mean. Actually, I realize that the episodes that scared me the most -when I was young- are the ones from "The Final Battle", along with that creepy theme...All in all,
Decades later and it's still badass!
Yeah, and reboot still sucks.
still gives me chills over 30 years later!
just think this is almost 40 years old
Me too !!!!
I'm a 90's kid, but I'm so happy my mother likes these things, so I got to watch them too.
Without doubt the 80's had the best shows, cartoons, music etc. V is up there with the best, I LOVE IT AND HAD TO GET IT ON BOX SET!!!
the best.still gets goosebumps when I listened to this masterpiece.v always will be the best
The nostalgia is too damn high!
This theme overshadows the original mini series theme and is often the one people most associate with "V". With its epic scope, it's easy to see why.
That's because of its simplicity. It's almost like a John Carpenter theme.
The original theme music is from North by Northwest, BTW.

The V version is played slower
ruclips.net/video/m0AyALoThE8/видео.html
I have to agree: this theme was far more memorable.
The original was ahead of it time. The fact that it still has a way of captivating people almost 40 years later says a lot.

80s were the best.
One if the best music intros EVER! Too short!
This was my favorite show during the 80s
One of the best soundtracks in the mid 1980s, next to "Trancers" theme and "The Terminator" theme.
Hans Zimmer Please Remaster this!
Can y'all just imagine the magic that would happen?!

Very eerie, but hits the spot like it did in 1984.
One of the best theme tunes ever. Up there with Doctor Who and Blakes 7
My new theme when I become Emperor.

This opening sequence is simplicity itself and it works magnificently.
I loved this show as a kid! Let it to ABC to fuck up a great show
Always reminds me of Peter Gabriel's Rhythm of the Heat.
