- Theme Music to the hit Mini Series V. These Two Tracks are Titled Main Theme by Barry De Vorzon & Final Battle Theme and are by Dennis McCarthy. Dennis took over the FINAL BATTLE scoring chores from Barry De Vorzon around the middle of the production.

Kids today fail to realize just how huge the "V" franchise was back in the day. I can remember us kids raving about it in the schoolyard and how it was the television event of our time. To us it was as big as Star Wars.
Oh hell yeah!!! I even remember the big promotion they had at the time before it debuted. All you saw was this huge V and you didn’t know what it meant. That miniseries was the BIGGEST thing out at the time. Wasn’t it crazy that the sweet alien Willie became Freddie Kruger?? Lol!

I was that kid in the 80s who loved this show. I even was expelled from Catholic School over how much I loved this show.

When I first saw V I was in my teens and have always loved the Final Battle music - I now have it as my ringtone.
Way creepier than the regular theme song.

I can still remember the impact this show had on me as a kid growing up in Los Angeles! Especially this intro and music. Felt like if I walked outside there would be a gigantic ship hovering above the city!

V also had a major impact on my life as a child growing up in the 1980s back then. As a child back then, I would look up at the sky imagining seeing a huge mothership, as portayed on V, in real life.

And this series happened long enough ago, that the events could have happened, and like with other things, people would have only vague recollections, if at all. Delete the media tapes and newspaper microfilms from the period, and viola.
This series was played in Pakistan as well and had the similar effect on the kids of this country. And yes, Diana was my crush too ... lolz

After all these years, THIS IS STILL ONE OF THE SCARIEST THEME SONGS EVER! I still watch & love it, I hope to pass it on to the next generation - minus the 2009 ABC TV version. (If you were going to work one day & that ship emerged over your house, revealing THEM, what would you do?) SCARY!!! LOL!

no doubt. I remember being a little kid and watching the final battle live, and hearing that music and getting chills, but nothing compared to the birth of the alien child plot twist- as cheesy as it was, as a little kid it freaked me out and i still love it

Love the themes,I used to live with Michael Ironside at the time of this show,left his breakfast out for him a few times,he loved cornflakes and a hard boiled egg,so next time you see ham Tyler no that his fuelled from my breakfasts.

I was 11 in '83 when this first aired. a show way ahead of it's time and the theme still pops into my head now and again. you can't forget it.
The theme from "V" was massively influential on UFO documentaries later, probably including Unsolved Mysteries.
This show was awesome.

I love V so much it reminds me growing up in the 1980s I was in school then and my brother recorded most episodes that I missed on TV brings back memories a great show.

Yes it was one of the best scenes in the pilot movie. Love it. Compared to this the series really had lost it´s drive. To compare it to John Carpenter is an idea to think about.

i had a cassette that followed me for decades. this theme was the first music on it but i had forgotten what it was. for decades i tried to find out what it was and when i found this... i nearly passed out. finally! after all these years i now remember!
For those that might still be playing XCOM 2, listen to this theme before starting a game. Guarantee you'll get the chills - the game's the closest you will ever get to playing a squad of Resistance fighters against the Visitors.

I still get a shiver from this tune, so simple but so effective
What I love about this theme is just how it encapsulates the idea of an alien presence enslaving humanity while draining their resources dry. It's terrifying, ominous, and the almost tribal cadence makes it sound like the war music of an army. They are legion, and humanity is on the back foot. It's chilling and perfect for the show.

As evolved as we like to think we are, we're still tribal animals. Pack animals, social animals, we've always maintained our survival through community, and we've always achieved community through music; specifically rhythmic beats...
Yes the tribal cadence....it incorporates many different cultures....together as one!

This was everything back in the day, me and my family was pressed about "V" the music especially different, but edgy. It had you excited to watch it. Also, Buck Rogers, Wonder Woman, Solid Gold, Fame, The Love Boat, Laverene & Shirley, Gimme A Break, Facts of Life, Taxi, Different Strokes.. Love these shows. :)

Cette série était l'une de mes préférées quand j'étais petite. Je l'ai vu super jeune. ça passait souvent sur m6 et mes cousines beaucoup pus vieilles que moi regardaient ça. ça m'intriguait donc, j'ai suivi. Je devais avoir 6, 7 ou 8 ans, je ne sais plus. J'adorais mais en même temps j'avais un peu peur! La musique du générique m'a profondément marquée. V, c'est vraiment super!

Was glued to this show back in the day and it still holds up today. It was one of those shows where I always enjoyed the opening intro and the end credits.
The original V series was simply about the Visitors coming to earth, and giving the impression that they came with good intentions very quickly started turning Earth into their own image and subjicating us humans to their will. And yes that was in a Facist manner as well all the while giving a friendly impression that they came in peace. Ironic when you look at the original series and the recent one? The original holds true including with the soundtrack.
I didn't see the new version. I found the first one very interesting as a criticism of rampant fascism. Resistance has always been a minority affair, and collaboration with the enemy unfortunately very frequent. My father was a victim of an act of treason by a so-called friend during the time of Vichy fascist regime in France. He was then arrested by the "Milice" (French pro-Nazi militia) and was saved only because his brother, a physician, once saved the life of the mother of a chief of Milice squadron. These Sc-Fi invaders reminded me of these Milice men, same treacherous look, same cruelty, same absolute devotion to their leader.

I was a kid when this came on TV, and even after doing a modern rewrite of my own, this music still raises the hair on the back of my neck. I can still see the wide-eyed look on Marc Singer's face as he turns around in that river bed and sees the ship hovering overhead, as if it was just premiered last night.

This theme still has a very haunting feel .I can remember first watching this at like 8 years old and being creeped out but intrigued at the same time!
i dont know how popular this show was worldwide but in Sweden it became an obsession. All the cast became verywell known in Sweden. Shit it was all we talked about in school when i was younger. Then again, at that time we only had 2 state channels so everyone saw the same shows

In Argentina (5 channels) it was MASSIVE. It´s the only thing we talked about those weeks in school. And Robotech, of course.
AWESOME instrumentation that fit perfectly with the TV series of V here!
Even today, this theme still sends chills down my spine and an adrenaline rush at the intensity, the determination of the resistance and of the sinister nature of the Visitors. The remake? nothing.

I agree regarding the Terminator likeness. I think if you put either of these themes in place of the actual Terminator theme, it would still fit in. There's a sort of mechanical darkness throughout the theme.

I have V and V The Final Battle on DVD and I have my vhs copies from the 80s. I watched them when they first came out and I was blown away. They don't make shows like this anymore.
This is an amazing theme tune. Quite simple but wracked up the tension waiting for the episode to start!
