Ham Tyler, one of the best characters in the original V. He was a total badass, but he did have a human side too as he formed a bond with Ruby. His revenge plot on Daniel was great.
Daniel got what he deserved he was a brownshirt.
In one scene during the Series, a Visitor kicked over a Nativity set. Ham immediately said "That one is mine."
Victor Kain He then dressed up as Santa Claus and hugged the little girl in the same episode, another nice side of Ham Tyler you don’t often see.

Originally the character as written was going to be in a wheelchair. When cast, Ironside objected to this because... well... Ironside.....
There are a lot of visitors in this scene who wish they never met Ham Tyler.
Well, they would have wished it had they survived the meeting.
I saw this episode for the first time back in '84 at age 6 and was instantly hooked. It's still my favorite episode to this day. Ham Tyler's a badass merc and was always my favorite character. The series really began to suck after he left. Oh, and I had a huge crush on Lydia from 'The Series.'
I never did understand why he was written out of the series.
@@alucard624 IMHO, the series was doomed when, I think it was the first episode of the series, my favorite character Martin. I always love a bad guy/girl who turns good. I think he died of the red mist in the very first episode. I barely watched the rest...
@@robertbeckman2054 I think that was Elias who was killed off at the beginning of the series. V had a tendency to either kill off or write off characters you liked and keep the annoying ones around for some reason.
What else ? To save money. V had a large cast , so to save them money , they had to go. Including Robin , Elias , and Martin.
@@gregorydotson6776 They brought Martin (Frank Ashmore) back as his twin brother Phillip in The Series. I understand that were trying to save money, but you get what you pay for.
Ham Tyler played brilliantly by Michael Ironside.
This is the 2nd time I saw Michael Ironside after his role in *Scanners.* Plus his biker dude partner. Badasses the both of them. I have the original series on DVD and the show still rocks over 35 years later. 👍
One of the best scenes! The best is the fight Donovan and Tyler have on the truck and it ends with "The truck stays" lol
They hated each other , but as the series progressed they had mutual respect for each other and ended up being friends watching each others back.
Ham Tyler was my favorite character once he showed up.

Michael Ironside was such an intimidating presence in anything he was in! Even when he played the so-called "good guy", you just didn't want to mess with this guy!

This was one of my favorite scenes in the entirety of the original "V" saga. During the first miniseries and part 1 of the Final Battle the Visitors did most of the heavy duty ass kicking but this was the first time when someone with the Resistance finally punched back in a physical and violent way-and won.
Ham Tyler was THEE bad ass on this show, bar none. I still don't want to find myself on Michael Ironside's shit list.

I agree! Ironside's character Richter in Total Recall uses a Mac-11, and it sounds like an assault rifle!
It’s a war of attrition and you need to prosecute it in the most demoralizing, painful way possible for the invader. The longer a war of resistance goes on the more it favors the defender

Back when they casted roles perfectly. Over halfway through a show's combined run they bring in a beleivable actor who you could believe would be a hardened fighter from another part of a global war elsewhere. Not a pretty boy with perfectly messed up shaggy hair and abs, Ironside was fantastic here and one of his best roles.

One of my favorite scenes from The Final Battle miniseries. Tyler was/is a badass! You want him on your side, and you do NOT want to cross him. You will find out that you have made a tragic mistake not soon after....

V The Final Battle had its shortcomings, but goddamn was Michael Ironside a major plus. As a villain or hero he's always a force to be reckoned with.

Amazing character. There’s a scene at the end of the movie series where they’ve taken the visitors embassy. One of the visitors, Andrew is trying to get away. Ham Tyler trips the guy and then as he’s lying on the ground dumps a pouch of the red dust right on his face. I had never seen anything that crazy bad ass when I was six years old and first saw Ham Tyler do it.

This was better than the remake. Sure it's a bit derivative, but still good for its time. & It was ( probably ) Robert Englund's first exposure to TV.

I'm convinced that half the reason V: The Series was made was to simply give Ironside more screentime as Ham Tyler, as his presence in the Final Battle is such a shot in the arm that the showrunners had no choice but to capitalize on his presence.

I loved this show when I was a boy. TV scifi at it's best. Back then though it didn't register that the visitors shot like stormtroopers and Ham used a small caliber weapon that vastly overstated its actual effect.
Plot armor and Hollyweird. He would've been better off with an Uzi or CAR-15..

Man back in the days Movie Miniseries🤔 V 1983-1984. This was the good old days when ABC CBS and NBC had movie Nights and made there own movies. I miss the 70s and 80s the good old days. This was back in the days when everything on tv was almost 100% Gold. Ham Tyler was one awesome dude. All the guys on the playground wanted to be M. Donoran I said I will be Ham Tyler nobody argue with that.
