The 105 only has 2 years left before they can be imported. ❤
Woohoo!!
Y'all americans already have 105s in the states right?
@@dinukajkdy3291 Nothing made before 1998. I see a lot of imported 1990s Left and Right Hand Drives, 70s, and Early Prados at my local shop, but no, the 100 and LX470 were both independent front suspension with CVs in the US.
Have it imported from european LHD country or the middle east.
Just don’t get the 1hz diesel
It’s really underpowered
I got overtaken by Mercedes actros trucks going on uphill roads in one haha
Great video for us life long Land Cruiser dorks. Kurt is a great dude, glad you had him on.
it is true, there were a lot of land cruisers in Venezuela specially for government use and they still use them up to this date. private users also abuse them really hard off road and they are amazing! that nostalgia and the fact that it is a great vehicle is why i am getting one
Venezuala is a nightmare
Kurt is such an awesome dude. Always so positive and fun to be around. The fact that he’s a Land Cruiser genius is just an added bonus! 🙌
❤
@@KurtWilliams-CruiserKurt😂
Kurt is the man. He’s so humble; definitely far more than the person who runs the Landcruiser Heritage museum.
Thanks for taking the time to interview him when you went to the Landcruiser launch!
that arctic hilux is a proper dream truck, holy crap
In East Africa, Toyota offered a 5-Speed Manual Transmission Land Cruiser 200 series with a 1VD-FTV engine
Awesome stash of everything landcruiser! Living 5 minutes away from a JSD army base, I see the military grade mega cruisers on the road quite often, mostly the troop carrier version. Kurt is a treasure, his passion for LCs is infectious! Thanks TFL classics for sharing this clip. Visiting this museum is added to my bucket list! I drive a LC90 Prado and love it, though I wish I had the 2H option on my transfer case like 4runners.
You can get the 70s land cruiser in the last section in saudi Arabia as a pickup or a suv, they have a lot of them and you dont need to wait or even change it because its a lift stearing
Also in Colombia South America
Oh man this is awesome! As a Landcruiser fan I was waiting for someone to do a walkaround from the new LC release! Kurt is a wealth of Cruiser knowledge!
interestingly the series 80 shown is an "Autana" they were meant to be the more "utilitarian" of the 2 models sold, aside from having the hublock 4wd system and the square headligh there were originally only offer in manual transmission, bench seat front seat and no fender flairs, as year went by it go closer in luxury to the "burbuja" which was pretty much equal to the usa version of the car, all time 4wd, leather seats and so on
Huge fan of Kurt, he’s a local legend for sure.
Geez, aren’t Land Cruiser guys the best! Looking forward to making it out there one day. Thanks for educating us Kurt!
2007 Toyota Land Cruiser 80 Series known as AUTANA🤗Made In Venezuela🇻🇪🚙Greetings from Venezuela 🇻🇪
I would kill for a 2007 80 series triple locked...
Regarding the Venezuelan 80 series: since it has de quad-headlights Toyota Venezuela call them “Autana”, it was the “cheap” version or the lower trim level of the 80 series over there.
If you pay more you’ll get a “Burbuja” as locally known and it was almost identical to the U.S spec 80 series.
@Lucas-fi4xy Not interested in a religion founded by a mass murdering child molester that executes people for choosing to leave its oppression
I appreciate the long vehicle shots on this one, great job!
This dude is PASSIONATE about his job.....and it seems to be a really awesome job at that. In 10 minutes I learned more about the pre 1998 LC's than I thought possible. Love it. 👍🏻
Brazilian here.. bandeirantes are awesome.
Super reliable and made for every kind of work. Even nowadays you see it in the streets and is hard to buy a used one because people won't sell it.
It's a very important vehicle for the country, since it literally helped to explore Amazonia and combat organized crime
Thanks for going outside the box from all the other content creators that went over this release of the new land cruiser 😊
Venezuela is the definite paradise for Land Cruiser lovers, i still own a very low mileage 2005 Land Cruiser 70 series that I’ll import to the US when time comes, I think it has to be 25 years old to be qualified as antique
Oh man you could make a butt load of money doing that, I'd imagine they aren't that expensive in Venezuela and the car market is insane right now in the states
Just learned how to patch tires from Curt at Expo PNW, great dude and incredibly humble. 🤙
❤
That museum would be like paradise to me
"Agricultural Experience" LOL! Tommy is an amazing presenter.
Kurt is the man!
As being someone from paradise, I love seeing the burned cruiser. There was lot of them up there
What an amazing walkthrough, now I have to go see it in person, thank you for sharing this wonderful museum with us
I think I watched that red icelandic conversion truck in a documentary when they drove all 3 across Greenland. I love those trucks, one earlier documentary had a 90s ford Conversion van that was my favorite. Classy ride
That 2007 is the same they sold in my country. In Venezuela the 80 series was sold brand new till 2007
Great tour! Curt knows his stuff!
Great video. We visited about a year ago. Wonderful Day. Luckily it was an annual event and it was spectacular.
I just love to listen to passionate and knowledgeable enthusiast. Tx!
Loved it, thank you. Landcruiser fan from Downunder 🇦🇺
Being a 80 series owner, this was a awesome video, hope one day I'm able to go there with my cruiser!
Hello Tommy. The founder of Arctic Trucks moved to Norway about 25 years ago and built up a big factory and workshop in Drammen in Norway where they now have their main office building up all sorrts of trucks for mi,itæry, firefighters, police and sivillian trucks mostly from Land Cruiser and Hilux. Best Regards Arne G from Norway
8:40 The new land cruiser you guys have actually is the new prado
Prado is land cruiser
Interesting how the museum guy doesn't realize that the new 250 series is the new Prado.
I love this history of the Land Cruiser and all international variations.
Hey it’s Kurt from Expedition Overland! I believe he was on the Pan-American expedition…? definitely one of the best series on RUclips if anyone is looking for something fun to watch.
I need to get out to SLC to check out the collection. I’m a 4Runner guy but still a fan of the LCs.
❤
I remember Kurt from those videos too, much respect Kurt… you’re the real deal!
@@KurtWilliams-CruiserKurt is the Bozeman team still doing its thing? You were a big asset to that trip… It was sketch and would have been more sketch without your knowledge. Cheers dude!
I was racking my brain trying to figure where I knew him from! XO ftw
@skipast75 they are. The team is in Africa currently. I really want to be there with them but I had a bunch of exciting projects this summer. Land Cruiser launch is one of them!
i hope to visit the museum one day. Dream land cruisers. i see a few on the road on occasion still from the 90s
Very interesting video. I always thought the Hilux Surf was more closely related to the 4Runner vs the LC Prado lineup.
The Hilux surf is just a right hand drive 4runner. The LC Prado, Surf and 4runner r all build in the same factory in Japan and share all mechanical components. (Chassis and suspensions). Engines are the only difference depending on markets.
@@goodybrown5175 yeah the Lexus GX is related the LC Prado
In Australia we had the 4Runner up until 1994 with the V6 petrol or 2.8L(non-turbo) diesel. Surfs were a grey import with 2.4 & 3.0L turbo diesel.
The problem with the Hilux Surf (i.e. right hand drive 4Runner) is that while it is mechanically Toyota quality, it's not the best for very hot rugged environments. Toyota are very meticulous and measured with how they slightly modify vehicles for different markets (everything from power and suspension setups etc), and the Surf was never designed to deal with extremely hot Australian weather etc. It overheats quite easily compared to other Toyota models. Might be a quirk with it's less robust cooling system.
They need to remake the blizzard and id get one in a heartbeat
Kurt looks like a younger version of Nathan.
Toyota LandCruiser strong diesel engines but driveline crumbles like a cookie, Nissan Patrol strong driveline but engines like to boil shrimp on occasion, prado is the wife’s shopping cart hehe.
Great video! Super informative and interesting! Well done!
Thank you for covering the release of the new Land Cruiser. I love the specs, price and looks of the new Land Cruiser. My favorite Land Cruiser available in the US is the J60. I’d love that with a manual. Anyway, as you get new cruisers to drive, I’d course I want to see a comparison with the Land Cruiser’s most natural competition, the Land Rover Defender. My dad owns both a new Defender 110 and a Jeep Wrangler. Please include both those and a Bronco. I do not think a Land Cruiser buyer will cross shop it with a Jeep or Bronco, but you never know. If possible, a G-Wagen as well. Again, I don’t think it will be crossed shopped with a Land Cruiser either. Still the question, what is the ultimate off-reader? I think the Land Cruiser has a good argument for that title, given the right (aftermarket) tire/rim package. Whatever you do, I look forward to the LC getting out through its paces.
Although the only one I ever owned myself was a 200, I’ve always loved these and seen them all over the world. Very cool to have this museum not too far from where I live. Definitely going to check out the collection soon!
I had a 2006 VX 80 series, 2005-2005-2007 80 series came with the doors trim from a Lexus LX450, ABS, full time, center console with fridge and ice maker. the base version of the video doesn’t have abs. Both model LX and VX you can find with auto and manual.
Awesome video thanks for this!
I like the arctic truck. You thought there were big trees and trails in the arctic. Well I can tell you gas stations are about 200 miles apart, roads are mostly gravel if not dirt, people chear when they get back on asphalt. There is such a thing as the treeline where 50 year old pine trees are 10 feet tall. Then nothing but rocks, snow and ice.
since the 70´s working for the africulture department in the biggest agricultural region of my country i drove everyday off road to meet owners that had new projects in their lands having respected the laws of animal and water protection of our country, Portugal ,my cars were the land cruiser from the 60´s ,diesel engine ,after a nissan or datsun don´t remenber the model and the last was a toyota hilux truck doble cabin, all 4x4
A really good collection. When in Oz I'd seen hi-rail equipped wagons.
Enjoyed this video…..such a cool museum
Ah, the Bandeirante. I learned to drive in one that belonged to friend, who still has his. The military one came from the Brazilian Marine Corps, who dreaded to trade those in for the LR Defenders. Maintenance cost rose exponentially after that. And you can still see Bandeirantes almost everyday around here.
Here in Canada, we can import any vehicle that is just starting it's 15th year of age since it's build date. I live in Vancouver, British Columbia, and we have dealerships here devoted to importing JDM vehicles as they age in to our import system. One dealer I know even has holding facilities in Japan to store vehicles of special interest, until they are eligible to be imported. This has become so popular, that clients come to him with requests for specific vehicles, which are then sought out worldwide to import. He says a fair number of vehicles in storage overseas awaiting import status are already pre-sold to customers. What a great business model this is, with little risk - using customers own money to finance the operation. And this business keeps growing at a faster and faster rate as demand is over the moon now.
Very fun and interesting!
the yellow is like the one i had but all toyota, that one as finishings that i never saw. In the 80´s there were several on the road still
12:45 Cool to see you slipped a Pootrol into the lineup.
Wish I knew this was here when I was in salt lake in June!
Kurt is a Legend!!
1HZ is a pretty bulletproof engine 💪💪
U.S. military to Toyota engineers in 1950: This is the Willys Jeep. We want you to start making them for us.
Toyota engineers to the U.S. military: Okay, simple, we can do that... but only if you allow us to make a far superior civilian version. A.K.A the Toyota: Land Cruiser.
U.S. military: Deal!

I was gonna say the white FZJ105 was an Australian spec 105 as the early FZJ105’s here were solid axle….
There were 105 with synthetic leather seats, manual windows, sideways facing rear seats and barndoors. I never knew 105's had an automatic trans
Toyota has kept the v8 for sale in the 79 series.
On Maui if you don't drive a Toyota the locals look at you funny.
It is very curious to me that when they speak about the 70 series and 80 series diesel they always think about Australia and seem to forget those vehicles are available in central and south america... Even brand new in the case of the 70 series line- up
Icelandic Super Jeeps are amazing!!!
Awesome selection for the video. With the introduction of the new J250 (TJ250?) Landcruiser, I think showing the 2 versions flanked with that round-light 90 Series and a 62 series would be cool.
Here in Colombia we have the 2023 FJ cruiser the last edition. I gonna send to tfl some pictures of one 2023 and one 2022 FJ cruiser from a friend so you can post it
Great video. Sad that us in Canada and North America in general can't get the 70 series new. Silly new car buyers wanting all the bells and whistles. They'd at least sell one diesel troopy to me if they bothered to import them! Starting to look at options on importing a 15 year old LHD diesel 70 to go with my other solid axle diesel 60 and 80 series Land Cruisers, 70 fits right in there between those two numbers 😀
Say hi to Cruiser Dan.
Not really another Jeep knock-off, just looks really similar to a HUMVEE...lol, not to mention the Prado with the seven slot grill
Only 79 series V8 turbo diesel ⛽️ 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
So many amazing rigs! I'd absolutely love to go there someday!
The new based line 1958 LC is priced around mid $50k which is quite expensive comparing to the current V8 luxurious Lexus GX 460, you can get the Lexus for as low as $59k which is a $4k difference and it has a lot more goodies than the upcoming 58 LC, i.e. leather trim, audio, engine, fit and finish...etc., bottom line, I think the LC should be priced
Great video!
Thanks Tommy amazing amazing. Wish I had known. about this place a year and a 1/2 ago I would have stopped? 😊😊😊
with exc
eption to the 70 series utes, the forunner fortuna were based from the hilux platform..
there were a few countries to knock off of both the wilies jeep and the 40 series lc
from what i was told around 70 seriesv70 year release toyota was retiring the v8 2.8 and likely 6 cyl part time 4x4 at b25mph/40km/h 4x4 with hybrid electric powertrains
feasibility on road 4x2 feasibility off road in 4x4 is the question is the unknown factor
A 1kz 5spd prado is my ideal vehicle they showed here
The 105 isn’t just “like” the 80 Series underneath, it IS the 80 Series underneath. The only differences were the body and power plant.
I like more basic vehicles trim levels. It's cheaper and, at the end of the day, either gets you from A to B just as reliably or more reliably.
I want one sooo bad. Need to see what they do with the new 4runner 1st before i decide.
On my bucket list!
Super video.
Bandeirante is not the name of a company, is the name of the model. They were produced by Toyota in its first factory outside japan. Dana axle and Mercedes engines were adopted in 1962 (following the opening of the new factory and the adoption of the name Bandeirante) to raise the nationalization index of the model, before that they were CKD from japan since 1958 and retained the original Land Cruiser name.
Well done tommy mr fantastic
One of these Days I am going to Donate my 1988 BJ73 Left Hand Drive LC to a museum.

Was Kurt in Expedition Overland? South America?
Yup!
Awesome Kurt! Hope to see you there next spring, on our trip to Utah.
Kurt is epic!
Toyotas very nice all that lovely reliability l got distracted this bloke has a fantastic collection of Land Cruisers and one Hilux ute and you are right the 70 series are expensive north of aud$70000 and vey basic comes with ashtrays and a cigarette lighter by looking at it and the lack of creature comforts you think it would be much cheaper but no and there are plenty of them about in there various configurations people buy them despite the high price tag and Toyota make it difficult to the year it was built they haven't changed the design in many years but been so simple they will last and last
There is a 70 series. With 7 doors. Only 25 were made. Have seven 1 all white.
Very curious to hear more. What model?
@KurtWilliams-CruiserKurt model years were 91 92. think it was. Made for a south American government. 3 doors on the driver side, 2 doors on the passenger side. 2 barn doors in the back. I saved a picture somewhere. But I'm away from my computer. Remember reading that they were all white. Just like a normal 70 series, but longer
Would be cool if Toyota had brought any of their diesel utilitarian Land Cruisers over here for the commercial Market at least.
But I guess it would have been pretty difficult to compete with the established players.
They can’t because of the chicken tax not because of established players, everywhere else in the world all they use is toyota work trucks and no other American truck
@@johneldepresso You think the government and corporations are separate. lol cute.
The chicken tax was the elites in the US auto industry using their government friends to protect their interests.
It's the same way in every other industry.
@Lucas-fi4xy Does Allah drive a Landcruiser?
@@johneldepressoyour local truck maket would go down hill Americans would buy toyotas.
Thats why they make it hard to import them diesil mostly.
The LC200 ran from 08 to 2021??? Jeez no wonder they’re reliable. Imagine being innovative for once.
Great 👍 very informative! Have to visit this museum.
Do they have the Toyota Fortuna in there too it's 4Runner size based on the Toyota Hilux Ute the Toyota landCruser 70 they could put in the Toyota tundra new V6 twin turbos
9:24 Toyota forerunner globally it is called Toyota Surf. Not Land Cruiser prado. Two completely different vehicles.
The Top Gear Hilux is at the end of the video
Australia gets some really cool Toyotas…. Japanese made too like Hilux especially. while we get American made Toyotas for the most part….
Love how toyota keeps making the same parts for decades and just introduces them to lower economies over time.
I don’t understand why this guy said like Bandeirante was like a licensed company to sell some sort of a mixed car here in Brazil. That’s incorrect.
Toyota was here officially to assemble the FJ25 in the late 1950s. (You must be shocked to read that 😂)
The São Bernardo do Campo assembly plant was the FIRST Toyota assembly outside of Japan (1958) they mention that in their global website, they first assembled the FJ25 with Toyota petrol (gasoline) engines with the CKD regime until 1962 when they nationalized and started to built the Land Cruiser starting calling it as “Bandeirante” which means the “flag carrier”, the pioneer explorers. Bandeirantes were produced between 1962 and 2001, and they were equipped with diesel power engines from Mercedes-Benz (1962-1993) and Toyota (1994-2001). I have no idea why the guy said something about the government there on the video. There’s nothing to do with anything, all I know and American people may not know is that Brazil has the largest Japanese population outside Japan which is probably why we have that close relationship with that country. Which means that we have specific products for our market. One example could be the 2nd and 3rd gens 4Runners they were officially imported from Tahara in Japan like the ones sold there but we’ve had the whole range of engines including the diesel engines and we don’t know them as the 4Runner we called them here Hilux SW4.
Another fun fact: we don’t speak Spanish around here. 🤣
