    Yesterday, i saw the ones with Fde serocote, checked it out, and it felt very good tight n very balanced. It was $1450. The next gun on the list was going to get tonfoglio limited extreme race gun in 40S&w for same price, now debating. Also, I picked up the Appolo11 compact yesterday. Haven't shot it yet. Good luck to everyone. God bless us all.

    Had the same optics issues I used Blue loctite and still had issues. I switched to vibra tite and haven't had anymore issues.

    After the initial break-in I have not had any problems with mine...that were gun related. The magazines, that's another issue. I would suggest learning how to tune the magazines if you want to continue to use the Springfield mags as their quality control seems to be lackluster. As a note, Atlas Gun works sells their standard magazine for the Prodigy, stacattto, etc.. They are fantastic and at the time of this note are in the $65-$70 price point, which is not far off from the SA mags and less that Staccato mags, which also work in the Prodigy. ( I have connection whatsoever with Atlas other than being a big fan)
    I have the Holosun 509c on mine with the SA baseplate. That paring is rock solid with no modifications needed and has been rock solid for me through about 1500 rounds now.

    I watched an armorer video who was tuning this gun he discovered that the optics plate screw was too long and interfering with the extractor. It may also cause the screws to back out.

    The Prodigy is my first "2011" style pistol. I enjoy shooting it much more than I anticipated. That makes the optic plate issue even worse. I have the same issue with plate coming loose every range session. I have cleaned the threads, gotten new screws, used lock tight and Vibra tite. Still comes loose. very frustrating. I have not tried the red locktightt yet. Please share your progress.

    Glade some people have get good ones. I bought one and before I fire it the safeties fell off and when I call springfield they said I have to pay to get it fixed. I committed on a instagram post of there and they blocked me. Not much a fan of the company. I'd just save and get something better, from a company that cares about 2a right and it customers.

      My local gun shop/range has the 4.25" Prodigy as a gun for rent. I loved shooting it and ended up putting 500 rounds through it. I ended up going with a Canik because I could get the gun, four extra magazines, cleaning and lubing supplies, a range bag, and 1,000 rounds of ammo for a couple hundred dollars less than the Prodigy itself.
      The Prodigy is on the short list for my second gun purchase though...

    My local shop has the exact pistol and I have been waffling whether to get it. I think the optics plate issue has made the decision not to get it. I was able to shoot this at Shot Show and really liked it but the optic situation has always annoyed me. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    You have to clean the holes out in order for the screws to hold. Had the same issue till i cleaned them really ggod. 1911's love lube, lube makes screws come loose.

    I'm waiting to see if Springfield gets their issues worked out before I buy one. It may be an inexpensive 1911 DS but that much money for any pistol should not be having this many problems. I'm not a Springfield fan, but I would buy this if and when Springfield gets in act together and fixes all the issues I see people are complaining about. The issues you and some others are having are not break in issues. I see that some reviewers are not having issues, which indicates that maybe Springfield has some QC issues.

    what did you torque those screws down to? I've also heard that the threads sometimes get oil in them, not allowing the loctite to perform as it should so they need to be cleaned prior to use.

  • @AntaresTwo6
    @AntaresTwo6 Год назад

    Im still deciding on whether to get this or an FN 509 tactical. I haven't heard as many complaints with FN's 509 series compared to the complaints that the Springfield 2011 DS has. If i do get the ds prodigy, I most certainly hope I get one that isn't defective. I'm not much of an optic user with handguns so I wouldn't run into the whole optic plate issue.

    Did you have the slide hanging up at all on the disconnector? I have 150 rounds through mine, no malfunctions but if I manipulate the slide by hand it gets caught up. Deciding if it needs to go back to Springfield or maybe just clean and shoot it more to see if it goes away with the break-in.
