bought mine last weekend. opened it in the store and felt like the 850mAh they had there wouldn't fit so i went with 500mAh first and it was indeed quite tail heavy. i bent that "U" in the elevator rod a bit to trim it more down and then it was manageable. couldn't get more than 20-30 seconds of full throttle out of the batteries, could fly 3-5 minutes at 30% throttle though, which was already surprising to me. checked the page of the local hobbystore, measured the batteries that i had and compared it with the measurements of their 850mAh and since it should fit i bought those. huge improvement. flies extremely stable now, flies longer, i can fly full throttle for a while now and enjoy the power of the plane, most of the time i'm at 50% though, which is enough for rolls, loops, inverted flight. i am SO surprised how well and long that tiny dual EDF plane flies, it's such a joy :D i'm also not a fan of that IC/EC stuff, i put an XT30 on mine :D
It sounds like an angry bee in the air lol. Good flight considering the cg issue. Im sure once its dialed in a little it will really be a screamer. The roles and loops looked great! Awesome job John and GB!

Great landing! Hmmmm? My landing gear on my OG are made with wire, the thickness of human hair. Need to see if new ones are better as the OG gear collapse. Great viddy as always! Brrrrraaaaap!

Its on page 5 of the manual. "Center of Gravity (CG) The CG location is 32-34mm back from the leading edge of the wing at the root. Balance the airplane INVERTED on this recommended CG mark with all landing gear installed. Adjust as needed by sliding the battery forward or back."
@@GBLynden yes an expert who either doesn't know to flip it over to do cg or he got the ONLY known umx a10 to not cg right. Let's think about that one ;)
Did you know that New car smell and that Styrofoam smell is actually degassing of carcinogens, not enough to hurt but kinda creepy. GREAT REVIEW, Not good foam but easy to repair.
That’s one problem I discovered with horizons manuals. They sometimes don’t update things on their parts list properly when they upgrade a model. They carry things over that should’ve been changed. Batteries and canopies I’ve caught wrong.
Nice flight. So where does this CG end up, on the leading edge ? :-) ....It may be the camera angle, but it looks like the nozzles are turned up a bit. Maybe it's a thrust angle problem...just wondered...
I need to measure with a tape, but quite a ways in front of the recommended cg. Id put the battery to the front of the tray in there and adjust as you need from that.
Honestly you should have cut the jst off the battery and put ic2 connector on it. You will loose some power with jst. You can go with jst-is2 adapter. But either way if you go with jst there’s voltage drop compared to Ic2. Jst can’t carry the amps that ic2 can. And you don’t get ALL the smart telemetry features with jst.
@@PiggoNZ Well going from a jst to ic2 will be a benefit to allow more current to flow. A jst connector has way less surface on the connection than ic2. So being able to carry more amps of current is the best benefit you will get from converting from jst to ic2. That is only if there’s enough amps to warrant such a swap. Lower power planes and helis it won’t make a difference. The new Spektrum batteries have a center post for communication and telemetry. But if you have a jst you won’t have any of that anyway. So upgrading from jst to ic2 is only about more current flow. If the pack is a smart pack. It will already have an ic2 or larger connector with the center post. That is if it is the newer style without the balance plug. It makes a difference on 3s units for sure. I converted some helis and it made a noticeable difference in power. It also made a difference with energy loss through heat from resistance. On like say my older blade 230s the jst would get warm. That went away. And it has better power. However an adapter will be needed to charge the battery after it’s converted from jst to ic2 because a Spektrum smart charger won’t charge a non Spektrum smart battery. Even though the connector is ic2. Hope that helps.
Will this be a good plan for a beginner, I have many hours on the simulator and I've got everything dialed. I have been looking at other planes but I think I would grow out of them too quickly. Any thoughts?
No, not a beginner plane. For a first you have to go with a trainer style plane. Thats my best recommendation. Maybe get a tundra/timber style plane, with a gyro for leveling, people never grow out of those.

Very nice landings. Most people thought the original was very underpowered as mine certainly was, along with all the other problems.
Thanks, this one is quite powerful!
That is why you had tail heavy issues from the start.
Nice video. Low wing aircraft you balance COG inverted. That's why you are having a hard time measuring COG
my umx mig 15 is a ear killer, i passing on this on, but looks good john , nice flying

Low wing airplanes are checked for CG upside down. The way you are checking CG it will never balance correctly.
Gonna have to make some connectors too.
FYI the CG is marked on the top wing already.
I wish it came in grey

plug in the battery, the plane will go into bind mode automatically if its not bound to a radio thats on. Then bind in your radio.
I have a question, I’m thinking of getting one of these, is it easy take off, easy fly, and easy to land?
I think it is, it depends on your skill level
I would not use JST, better using like xt30 when using 3s
Seems to work ok, think jst isnt enough?

There is quite a bit of room, so I think so
Can this plane connect to a Futaba transmitter?
no

IX12, but I recently got an IX20 also
You should add a tiny airsoft gun in front
