"His mercies are new every morning" Now I really like your team and channel. LOVE it. Can't wait for my UMX A-10
Horizon hobby is on a roll this year with all the good planes that have come out. I hope it will stay the same for the rest of the year.
I wish they do more helis like cb130x, ah-64 😍🚁
I wonder if they're going to re-release the Ah-64 with the new SMART electronics??? That would be SWEET!
Totally Agree Piano Playing!
AHHHH!
Plane Crash In The Trees
Brian, your camera crew has me spoiled rotten. I can't even watch some of the other reviews anymore. You two are quite a team and I do appreciate it!
Thanks JACK - I'm glad we've ruined you for other reviewers - LOL!!!
Brian
Congratulations on the new additions to the family dad! And thanks so much for showing them to us! The kittens are irresistible. On that note, what you and Megan have put together as a RUclips channel is just amazing and I heartily congratulate both of you on it. I realize that it requires an incredible amount of work to put these videos together. And it seems you do a new one almost every week. Honestly, I can't imagine how you do it. And you say you have four children as well! Wow!
I was once a private pilot, never an RC pilot, but I built and flew control line models as a kid and I greatly appreciate watching you do the foam builds and fly them. I have watched a bunch of RC videos and Megan's are by far the best I've ever seen.
I believe she deserves any and all the credit any of us can bestow on her. I realize that the videos are edited. But she never misses a shot. Even very challenging close, fast, low flybys, she nails. During the builds, she nails closeups in very tight, squeezed-in spaces to help the viewers understand what's going on. That's never easy.
And she may not fly RC planes but she understands them, aircraft and aerodynamics very well. She keeps track of parts, plans, where you are in the build, all the bits necessary to make sure the build happens. On top of all that, the space you build in is always absolutely spotless! Maybe you do all that cleaning and picking up of the living space, but I'm guessing she has something to do with that too.
So. It seems that Megan is a HUGE factor in the success of your channel. And rightly so. What I would like to ask you to consider is to give Megan some face time in front of the camera occasionally. I don't think I am the only one of your 97,000 subcribers that would appreciate seeing more than her hands. No offense intended, but I feel like I know more about your cats than I do about Megan. Please let us meet her face-to-face sometime. The two of you are the Dynamic Duo of RC RUclips Videos without a doubt. Why not let us celebrate Megan as well as you? Thanks for reading such a long-winded comment and request.
Dr. Mike Smith

Your very kind words are appreciated, and taken to heart. As for Megan in front of the camera, she is more bashful than I, so she prefers to be in the spot she is...BUT she does occasionally make an appearance. (Tian Sheng A380 build series)...and she also does her own channel too ;) HomeSchool101 ...but I can't say too much more or she'll be upset. We're all very lucky to have her on the "team" and she is good!
Thank you Dr Smith ;) We wouldn't be here without such amazing audience, such as yourself!
OMG. Thank you for zooming in after the crash. V1 would exploded beyond recognition at that approach. I'm sold. V2 is solid
Yeah!!!
Brian I thank you and your wife very much for putting the time into this vid. I've just used it to set my A10 up. Can't wait to fly it tomorrow. Wish you done more thorough vids like this for many more planes. Cheers, Mark. UK.
We've done hundreds, and will do more - we hope you'll be here to watch as they pour out ;)
Just wanted to say, all the way from Australia!...that your step by step process has been such a great help to me, just getting started with RC planes. Thanks so much for doing what you do. I know me, and so many other appreciate it...your wife is awesome, and your enthusiasm shines through! Keep it up mate :)
Finally got the nerve up to hand launch mine again after my first failed attempt. Did it in TALL grass this time. No crash and had a successful flight and landing. What a blast! My first time flying an edf! That thing is fast and I love how it slows down too.
AWESOME - Good for you David! It's awesome when a plan comes together!!!
Nice so glad to see the umx line continue to grow and evolve I really enjoy my first generation umx a 10 she is still 100% functional had to replace a main landing gear once
Awesome! you must be a good pilot then ;)
Brian, your flying skills are nothing short of AMAZING. I have been flying since 2016, and if I tried flying like you did here... it would be a one and done!!!
LOL! I fly a lot, but I know there's so many pilots that make me look like such a newb ;)
Your camera crew, she does a fantastic job capturing all your wonderful flying! Also amazing was when the camera panned up and you got that huge flock of birds!
YEAH!!! There's been tens of thousands of birds going over the last week or so...
@@BrianPhillipsRC your planes look cool flying with them, I hate to think what happened to your pc21 though! Did you at least retrieve the plane since the bird strike? Is it fixable ?
Love the whistle of the engines. You have to have real good eye sight to see that one flying.
It sure helps! My eyes were terrible before lasic plus - I wish I would have done it 10 years before, and I would have saved thousands of dollars on contacts and dr appointments!
OMG.....that center tone on the throttle stick has been throwing me the last couple days...I haven't been able to figure it out.....i was listening to this video in the background and I heard you mention this setting is in the timer....I can't wait to try and disable that when I get off work....You're the man
I agree - drives me NUTS!
Wow, I need one of these!!! I had the first one with the smaller fans, it only ran 2S! This is a must have item!!! A-10’s are one of my favorite planes to fly. That big wing is amazing for great lift! I built one years back from a GWS kit. Brushless EDF’s weren’t even a thought back then. My buddy had one with the brushed motors, what a disappointment. It was so under powered. Looked like a Flash Gordon spaceship bearly flying!!! LOL!!! It would rock back and forth like those Flash Gordon models they used in the TV show! Only those were actually flying on wires for filming, LOL!!
I built mine, fiberglassed the entire plane with light FG cloth and minwax! Put a single 480 brushless outrunner in the tail running a 11X5.5 prop and a 3S 2100 pack!! That thing would climb straight up for as long as you would want. That Hugh prop made a cool sound chopping the air between the prop and the elevator!!! Man I miss that plane! She has been dead and gone to plane heaven for many moons!!! 😢
Awesome Dj Project! That sounds like a labor of love!!! This little thing will set you back about 2 minutes in setup ;) The new 3S power is AWESOME, and it'll ALSO do 2S, fyi....we'll shoot some footage of that in the near future. I want to wait for some foliage to come onto the trees, since the backdrop blends well with this desert camo livery,
Nice review. Your videos are consistently the most knowledgable of the current crop of Banggood & Horizon reviewers.
Thanks! We really appreciate you saying this. Megan and I try hard to bring a real world experience, and we hope you'll keep coming back for more!
Man I love your videos and your happiness!!
Congratulations !
Thanks so much! We are super excited to have the opportunity to share these awesome new planes, and when they work as good or better than they look, it's extra special!
Well done Brian & co. Always the best!!
Thanks again! Glad you stopped in again!
One of my favoite vids, not only for the awesome flying, but the totally in-depth controller setup walkthrough.
Very good tip with needing more space with SAFE on. I don't even have the landing gear on mine. Glued some small teflon strips on the bottom for rough surface landing.
Little thing is a ROCKET on 3S. Will not hover at all though. Flying a super powerful brick. ;-)
I learned a few things about my transmitter, Thanks!!!
Awesome! Glad to help Pat. Thanks for being here with us!
Thanks Brian for this awesome review, I saw this yesterday and I'm going to get one for sure now! You Da Man !
Right on! It's awesome!!! How'd you see it YESTERDAY???
@@BrianPhillipsRC I saw the ad in an email from horizon and I was waiting on your review. Thanks Brian for all your work in putting the flights and also radio setups together. I can't wait until your next one. I love the hobby !
You know what they say about the midwest - if you don't like the weather, wait an hour. Crazy you were flying that new FW-190 in sub zero temps and now look at you flying in this kind of weather 😄 this looks awesome, although I have shied away from the UMX since I really love flying the bigger planes. But the best thing about the micro's is being able to fly those just about anywhere if you want to get a quick flying fix. Awesome flying and great camera work! Keep up the great work 🤙🏻😎
You got that right! These Twin 30mm EDF's are amazing! I so badly want to make a 4 engine airliner out of the guts, but would never kill such a beauty to make one...I want Horizon Hobby to do it for me ;)
Hi Brian, I've been flying RC since 1973 and you are the only "RC Social Media Influencer" that I will watch. Your camera crew is a saint also because my better half does not agree with your decorating tastes. :) Your camera crew also does a great job shooting the video and playing off your dialog. Well done both of you and keep it up.
Thanks Michael! We appreciate you being here with us, even though your wife hates my decorating style - LOL ;)
Great looking and performing plane. I’m going to be checking out more of the UMX offerings. Storage is starting to become an issue. Thank you for another incredible video.
I have one one of these and it's by far the best UMX plane ever
super easy to fly and lands just as easy
yes!
Got some more stick time on my A-10. Great flyer, the 3S packs are really great! Very fast!! Love it!!! Have flown it twice so far, I’m love!!! I have been an A-10 nut for years. This Thunderbolt II is the berries!!! Got 3 batteries so far now I need to get that charger to balance those packs! So far I’m just charging without balancing. My LHS don’t have the leads even for charging. I had to make my own so I could charge the packs with my old Triton charger. I’ll have to get the new charger from my LHS soon.
That's what I've been NOT telling people to do ;) These SMART packs ALWAYS balance themselves...thus if you just force current into the Discharge lead, they'll charge. The key is that you charge slow enough that they don't overcharge cells 1 and 3 and cause a dangerous condition.
Glad you figured this out, but like I said, I kinda "can't" recommend it..since the first time someone burns down their house, I'll be the idiot that suggested it.
I hear ya! I’ve been charging these Lipos for so many years. Have not had any problems so far. Have had a pack puff but never explode thank God!!
HI Brian, big thanks to you and your wife for all these videos.
Great video, I really like plaque behind you on the shelf in the kitchen!
I am going to buy this jet.
I really liked the video on the ASW 17, that I am buying very soon!
Thank you for all you videos, they are all so full and exacting, well done my friend!
You're welcome, and thank you Daniel for being here with us!
Great pilot and great camera women. Awesome great team! I want my A10, few more weeks
For a second there I thought you were going to fly in formation with the geese! That was some epic flying!
That would be super fun!
Those clouds are beautiful
Looks like the warmup reached you guys as well.....nice edf!
Sure did, and YES!!!
thank you two for what ya'll do. Both of you show us how to have fun with this hobby. No one else does that.
Thanks Rick! We really appreciate the kind words!
Brian! I can’t wait for warmer weather…. You are the man!
Me neither!!! Winter solstice just happened here, so VERY happy about that - longer days on the way!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks ;)
Mr. Phillips,
i have to thank u a lot for your very usefull lessons cause you i bought the NX10 and the UMX Thunderbold i follow you through the steps and now i love my NX10. Cant say anything about the UMX Th. so far cause its very stormy in Vienna but looking forward for my fist flight with this plane
Awesome! glad we could help, and very glad to help!!!
As for the A-10, just make sure you're delicate with her on landings. the nose is MORE reinforced than before (V1 UMX), but it's still not made of titanium ;)
Now i know what is waiting for me cause your not only teaching but also entetaining videos. Anyway we all crash :)
Thank you so much Brian for all the info on the UMX A10 setup, I'm getting mine tomorrow I hope come on Fed Ex. Great video take care and stay safe.
Glad it was helpful! Good luck Javier!
@@BrianPhillipsRC Got it and she up in the air. Thanks Brian, Take care and stay safe Have a great and healthy New Year
Awesome video Brian! I'm so glad eflite has decided to bring back UMX A10 with all the improvements. I did not purchase the version 1, because so many pilots had issues with structural damage to the nose section, even with good landings.
Hey I have a quick tip for the battery velcro issue. I have several UMX planes and I too have had issues with trying to remove the battery without damaging the model. So what I have done with every UMX model I own, is to completely ditch the velcro, and adhere small rare earth magnets to both the model and the battery. The amount of magnets I use will depend on the battery size and weight. The magnets I use are almost identical to the magnets eflite uses on the hatch or covers of the models. Once you know the location, CA glue the magnets to the batteries, then place an additional magnet on top of each battery magnet and add a drop of CA glue. Press the battery into position in the battery compartment and hold until the CA glue sets. Now the batteries are held during flight without moving, but yet easily removed from the model with no damage to the model structure. I have done this for some years with not one issue. I purchased the magnets on ebay for just a few dollars for 25 magnets. They are 1/4" square and about a 1/16" thick.
Thanks again for you great model reviews.
Happy flying,
Steve K.
Cool idea! I have a bunch of those super tiny rare earth magnets too...but never thought they'd be strong enough to keep a pack in place like that. I guess the key is redundancy, right?
@@BrianPhillipsRC Yes, for the small 280-300mah 2S lipo batteries, I use three (3) magnets. It works perfect on my UMX P47 and my UMX Waco biplane. I currently have six models, three UMX, two 800mm size and one 48" high wing. I use the magnets on all models, the larger the battery, the more magnets.
That is totally awesome Brian 🤙
It sure is! Thanks!
Great video Brian, can't wait to see that NX8 open box
Coming very soon, thanks for your patience ;) Super similar to the NX6, so I'm not pushing as hard as I am for some of the planes ;)
Their website shows this. Strengthened airframe including a carbon fiber reinforced fuselage and nose. Great video!
YES! I learned this one night before release, but our video was prepared a week prior ;) LOL
Totally agree with you! The battery compartment wall is really thin! There is a great danger of ripping not just the 3S battery out but the whole side of the plane... need to take a butter knife onto the field now myself everytime... and re-enforce the outside at just that spot all around the plane :(
I was bummed about it too, but now I know, I can make accommodations. I think a piece of tape would be sufficient to accomplish what's necessary, provided you apply it before putting in the Lipo ;)
Honestly camera crew makes video taping these things look easy! Good job camera crew, you are a great camera woman!
She really does! It's HARD to film a big plane, let alone a LITTLE one. We didn't know she was so good until we started making these videos. I suck at it, when I try to film planes...I pan WAY too fast, and can't hold still to save my life!!!
@@BrianPhillipsRC You guys are awesome, i watch all your builds and the recent one you did with the extra 300 by eflite was a tremendous help, I went out and bought it right away. Keep it up! Looking foward to more videos!
Nice plane!. Great price point in my opinion. Fantastic flying Brian!..
It really is! I want more UMX Twin EDF's now that they have the power and controls working great!
That thing is a screamer Love it Nice flying Brian you was keeping Camera Crew on her toes tracking that thing lol Great job guy's as always
Thanks 👍 We will!!!
Nice!! Looks like I'll be getting me a new UMX A-10! If 😉 If it's anything like the citation longitude then we are golden! Nice video Brian and camera crew 👍
WAY FASTER, and mine sounds better, but I asked and sounds like this is a bit of luck of the draw ;)
That was a nice landing
thanks!!!
Another great one. Thank you for all your work producing these. I know this is a very late comment but I just was given an used UMX A-10 so wanted to get up to speed quick. Would like to have seen you hand launch it once and comment on how to do it with a small EDF.
Thanks Robert! This plane hand launches super easy, but I love the wheels up, wheels down too much to "waste" a launch ;) Hope you understand, but I'll do at least one next time we have it in front of the camera ;)
Love the Windsock at the end of the Driveway
That came compliments of Grumpy John. He's one of my long time subscribers, and generally dirty old man - LOL!!! I hope he reads this - he will LOL!!!
Glad I stayed till the end - cute mama there!
Really nice a10 Brian I'm going to get one for sure good review
You should! It's GREAT!
Very nice. Adding to my list!
Please do! Great plane!
„can you feel it camera crew? " that killed me XD good video
:)
Those are Snow Geese guys. Awesome sky beautiful sunsets love the channel .
Thanks! There are so many different types. There were thousands and thousands flying over that week!!!
UMX GURU why do you this to me! I gotta have it. Brian Phillips is the opinion I listen to before I buy any plane.
Awesome Romin! Glad to hear ;)
I've put 8 flights on my UMX A-10 - so far it's a great little plane, easy off the ground and a fair flyer. On a 3S 850, I can get 5-7 minutes on a half-ish throttle flight.
Unfortunately, my most recent was a bit too fast and heavy, and now the front servo wobbles in the foam slot too much to use the landing gears effectively. Since that servo drives both the front gear and the rudders, I'm gonna be belly landing from now on to preserve the rudders.
I see!
Way fun tractors and flying great combo
I totally agree!!! ;) Thanks
I have 3 batteries for this plane and they all have around 80 charges/flights. I can say my first one had some sort of factory issue and died several times because of it. Got in contact had it replaced. New one has been going strong. I don't know if it will help anyone but I can say this plane is very fun to fly. It is not for new pilots however. And things I have found from experience are if you crash it hard Its nose is gone. The battery will rip right out of the plane regardless of how much velcro you have attached and will take the nose with it in bad crashes. However on minor crashes its kind of funny actually its comical how the plane spits the bats out like bad food. And after what around 220 flights I can tell you the fuselage will start to crack after trying to remove batteries. Will just happen. And this plane is a pain to trim. It's also exceedingly delicate and even smooth landings have broken nose gears off. And broken rear gear mounts. Its so fragile. Hh needs to reinforce it. Its ridiculous. But those are negatives. Positives are it sounds great. Handles great. Flys great and looks great. Hope it helps somone.
Very nice Brian!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. This plane is super fun!!!
Ordered this morning 😍😊💪🏻
AWESOME!
Can’t wait to get one
It is really good!!! I can't wait till the other TWIN 30mm planes start to pour out of the Eflite plant ;)
I can see a small airliner, can you? What about a little A320, or Boeing 777, 787, 737 Max 9 - and don't forget maybe an F14, F15, F18, F22 - so many goodies, I'm afraid of leaving one out!!!
awesome footage
Thank you kindly
That new AMX KICKES ASS but the baby cats are very cool!
They sure are! I'm a full blooded DOG guy, but I still love having the cats!!!
FYI, I know you're newer with us James, but just wanted to point out that they're called Ultra Micro eXtreme UMX. Might have just been a typo, and if so...please disregard ;)
On the original a healthy dose of packaging tape outside the side and bottom of the forward fuselage gave a huge increase in strength for that part of the plane.
Sure, and this one, As I've since discovered, HAS CF in the most vulnerable place! I didn't know, but now I do ;)
Hey Brian, I’ve come to the point where I’ve got to replace the tail on this plane. I tested my Zap-a-gap medium CA+ glue on the tail and it ate right through the foam. Would the zap-a-gap foam safe CA’s be what I should use?
Hey Brian, the extremely thin foam hinges on one of my ailerons broke on a landing. The aileron is only being held by the tape and is pretty loose. Just curious if there's a fix you recommend for this or if I need a new Wing? I love this plane! Getting 7 min+ on a 850mah battery. Just wish it was a bit more durable.
Oh no! Sorry to hear. This is what I would do...
1) If you can peel the tape off the top of the aileron, IF IT'S DELAMINATED, do so...
2) Put on a fresh piece of tape on that spot
3) If you're concerned, repeat on the bottom
You'll probably give up finish in that spot, which is NOT cool, but you kinda need that component.
Good luck!
I ordered a UMX A10 today. Of course I had to check out what you and camera crew had to say about this plane. My first 2 planes were Sport Cub S 2 and a FMS 1400 mm Cessna 182. Sport Cub is in very poor shape. I have ran it to death and several crashes. The Cessna 182, I haven't gotten it off the ground yet. Saving it until I know how to fly better.
The A 10 was damaged in transit to a store. The Right wing is broken and cracked in 2 spots. If I can't repair the wing, I plan on buying a new one. I do have 2, 3S 1300 mah batteries EC3 connector and 1, 3S 300 mah battery with JST connector. All I want to do is hook up 1 of the batteries to make sure everything works and Bind to my DX6e. Maybe taxi it around on my driveway. I know it's NOT a good idea to try flying in a rigged battery hook up.
I should have it by Friday and I'll let you know what I think. This will be 2 1st's for me. My 1st twin engine and 1st jet. I want to get more experience flying before I fly the A10.
Dennis
If I lived close to you I would definitely offer to adopt one of those kittens, oh and the plane is pretty neat as well 😉 Another great video guys.
If all goes to plane, we'll have another 2-4 or more pretty quick too!
That's wat she said, haha love it great flying Mr Brian.
Oh yeah!
Just picked this up this afternoon. How does it run on 2S? Is it worth even trying, or just go with 3S? I have some Spektrum 800mah with JST plug but they seem a bit big and heavy for this model. What are your thoughts?
Thanks for the review, Enjoyed the flight and review. Great camera work very meticulous review. Only dislike is 1hour 43minutes on a UMX plane. Other than that Great Job.
Thanks for that! If you watch in 4X speed, it's less long - LOL ;)
I have been using telemetry alarms but issue I have found is that the alarm gets triggered from momentary drops from climbing vertical etc. But the battery is still far from low as it returns much higher level once you resume less aggressive flight patterns. I have been trying to figure out a more reliable telemetry alarm. It would be nice if they had an average 10-30 second voltage which would be better indicator.
Yeah, same here...I've heard we have to set the POLE NUMBER to 8 for this motor as well in Telemetry...I haven't done it myself YET, but HH told me about it right before this video when live ;)
As for allowing for a denounce time before low voltage warning would LATCH on - that would be pretty cool! I'm still waiting for logical controls on the transmitters - that would be SOOOOO cool!
Brian this version of the a-10 has carbon fiber reinforcing the front nose section both sides with strengthened the whole front fuse. Good job camera crew pleassssssse dont let brian record lmao
I don’t bring glue to the field, Brian. I just bring garbage bags.
LOL!!! A true pro!
Great review Brian, as usual! Good points about belly landing and trimming!
The MiG15 is discontinued. Jason Merkle clearly said in a youtube video back in December that they are going to stop the 28mm SINGLE EDFs... So I had a hunch that the A-10 would come back, since it was popular. I have a feeling this is also going to happen to the Citation longitude... We had this one on our wish list to come back in a new and more powerful and safe select version! We cannot wait to get our A-10! Of course people are already complaining about the new battery, but let`s face it, the new stuff is here to stay and since we only started last year, we are all in favor of the new smart batteries... BUT: I wish the smart telemetrie would show the percentage next to the bar instead off just the bar. Spektrum, are you listening?! Please!!
The Citation Longitude IS the first 30mm twin, fyi ;)
The new battery is one of the BEST parts of this plane. I HATE that it's expensive, but how many little batteries that cost $7-10 each, have we thrown away!!! In my case...maybe 30-50!!! That's a lot of cash going into the garbage can. These will last so much better with SMART packs. Also, so much better connector. They pass the current better than JST, but if you can get away with JST Adapter, the cheaper packs I list are pretty good alternatives...the Onyx packs have been good.
I agree about the % vs the bar...would be better.
@@BrianPhillipsRC Yup I know about the 30mm, but the Citation still has the JST connection and I guess it will be "re-born" eventually with the new IC2 connection.
Got this beautiful thing on preorder
Nice Jolly! It is so fun!
@@BrianPhillipsRC picked up a messerschmitt from banana hobby. I've haven't flown anything from them but so far plane looks great. Going to maiden it tomorrow. Looking for a head cam or something so I can start recording
Head cams always seem to be pointed at the wrong place ;)
Was very excited to finally get mine. On maiden would not taxi straight. never lifted off and crashed off runway. Afterwards on the bench CSI with a cameraprobe showed the esc overheated and melted the fueslage from the inside out at top just before engine. Sending back and not gambling on another. Very sad...
Sorry you had a bad one. That sucks! I had to replace one of my motors - well, Horizon Hobby sent me a replacements, but like you, I CSI'ed it and found the lead into the Brushless Motor was a BALL at the end...IE, the Copper Melted at the motor ;(
Moral of the story, good thing this happened with a Horizon Hobby plane and not a Hobbyking plane...but I'm still super bummed for you.
Hey Brian. Almost pre ordered this, but decided to order the T-28 1.1m. (Used your link of course) I’ve been trying to setup my night timber with the AR631. Safe is definitely working, but can’t sense anything for AS3X? Even after running up past 25%. If safe is working..... isn’t AS3X gotta be working? Might just reset model/rebind start over?
Hummm, that's WEIRD. I'd go more than 25% and see if it turns on. Try SAFE with the plane on it's back, do the ailerons try to find the FASTEST PATH to LEVEL??? If so, AS3X will be working, but if not, RE Bind and try making sure you SEE two AS3X "dances" at startup.
@@BrianPhillipsRC yes it does the two dances on start up. And the ailerons do try to right the plane inverted. So I know safe is on. Thanks for the reply buddy. I’ll keep ya posted. Lol
Love the “pun intended” quick joke. 🙏🙌🌪👣
Glad you get it ;)
Hi Brian, how tight can this turn just by banking and yanking? I have about an acre of backyard with 2 or 3 trees, and am wondering if this would fly there?
Hey Brian,I was wondering if there's a adapter for the IC2 to a XT30 anywhere .
Crazy fast!
It sure is! Love the more than 1:1 power to weight!!! Something that will save UMX A-10 lives ;)
It sure would be nice to fly my A-10. Still waiting (over a month) for iC2 to iC3 adapter cable. If I hadn’t bought the fancy new charger, I would have cut the “iC” connectors off and replaced them with something more common. Maybe Horizon should stock up on adapters and connectors before they introduce products that require them.
I agree it's pretty dumb that the required adapter's aren't in stock at eh beginning, but like I've been trying to say, you can charge these pack without the adapter...you can make one, if you're resourceful ;)
Hi Brian! when you set your smart batteries to storage what do you set them to (3.7, 3.8, 3.9?) and which C rating do you use for storage (1, 2, 3 or as high as it says on the package?) Many thanks!
I don't I let them AUTO Discharge. The G2 packs default to 3.9VDC, and the G1 packs default to 3.8V DC. I'm fine with those settings, but I let them stay charged for the MAX, 240 hours.
I miss that jet such a great one can fly it anywhere
Good tutorial video 😊👍😷👍
Thanks BOBO!
Looks great.. for small edf
Totally is! The new TWIN 30mm EDF's are GREAT! The old 28mm EDF's were weak on a GOOD day ;)
This is on my letter to Santa!
:)
Yes I was just wondering if you had a vid on this one due!!
Oh yeah!!!!!
Great video as usual, but id like to ask a totally unrelated question, ive watched you set up flight pack voltage information to a spekrum receiver using the cable provided. how do you do it when runing a large 120mm edf on 12s, 2x6s packs
I think you do it the same...in Telemetry, you have to do the "Auto Config" while the packs are attached. If this doesn't work, I'd be lying to say I know, since I haven't done a 12S plane in my carer yet, ALTHOUGH, Esteban had the Hangar 9 Spitfire, which will fly on DUAL 6S packs. Maybe then we can share how we did it.
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thank you so much, you are my favourite you tube channel. does camera crew fly, like to see you behind the camera and camera crew fly Ha Ha Ha
My umx A-10’s cg is waaay off. Battery all the way back with wires tucked I still need 4 grams on the extreme rear of the fuse.
Really?!?! Sounds like something's wrong.
It is beautiful ❤️ brother to the cessna longitude.Great 📷 video.
It sure is! But faster ;) I LOVE the new 850mah G2 pack. The connector is SOOOOO much better than anything we've ever had in the past!
I just landed here watching the arrows t33 video before. Are these two comparable? I am looking for a plane without landing gear, but this here should be able to land without in grass. And this has the benefit of the Spektrum RX already installed. What plane would you prefer (third plane, need flight assistance, hand launch and belly landings only)?
Arrows T-33 is a very different animal. This is a SUPER small plane, in comparison, and way more delicate.
I like them both, but they're in very different classes, I would say.
50mm EDF is a SIZE CLASS or two bigger than this A-10, which is twin 30mm - both good, but not the same ;)
@@BrianPhillipsRC thanks! So basically if I do not have a good runway, just a patch of grass next to a field, or a small road, the T33 is a bit more sturdy and easier to land? I have a Conscendo Evolution I can basically land in a patch of high grass because it can fly so slowly. Or I just catch it.
Man I’ve got the old one. May need to get this new one just watching how it performs
I wanted the old one SOOOO bad, but never made it on the short list, so now that I've got this one, I feel so honored, and it is GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEAT (like tony the tiger, frosted flakes)
@@BrianPhillipsRC lol. The old one is a great flying plane, although mine is more CA glue than foam at the front
Central Iowa???? I am from eastern iowa! and just getting into planes. Any idea if i could bind my DXS remote to this plane? Considering picking one up
Yes, should work, but careful with rates and expo. You can't do that on the DXS.
I bought one about two months ago didn’t go so well😆 crashed on belly landing, glued er back together and crashed into a tree! Just got my 🥜 back and bought another one today! I left the landing gear on this time and it was amazing! Super easy to land.
When you gonna get that new hobby king v2 c130? I’d love to see what you do with the Herc!
It is very tempting...I love the White and Orange Coast Guard livery, but the GREY was also sooooo cool. We just haven't been doing Hobbyking for a few years. Call me crazy, but I just never really thought their NON-Gliders were THAT good. Sure, you could make them work, and they'd fly, but they always needed some mods to make me comfortable, and never had the wide flight envelope as the Horizon Hobby / FMS / Arrows planes. Maybe they're getting better now??? They did approach us to work with them, but they had some strange terms, and I don't like to get saddled up with a company like HK (maybe not the best reputation), and also have strange terms...I just don't know if we need more Dynam's in our life ;) (Okay, THAT last one was a bit of a low-blow...they can't be that bad)
Anyway, I wish you the best, if you get one. I'm sure it's pretty cool...but from what I've seen, it flies FAST. I want that plane to be light and SLOW. That's the way I like larger birds to fly, but then there was the EC1500...crazy 3D performance, but also still a bit "wonky" just due to the way it clipped together to make it transportable...
Hope you get one if you want one ;)
Brian - Have you set up any planes with non-Spektrum DMS or DMX receivers to work with the new NX radios? Curious how user friendly the radio is in those situations. Thanks!
They're only compatible with DSM2/DSMX protocol receivers. Also, the forward programming is not necessary, but an option that's part of the telemetry. For example, you could bind your NX transmitter to a Lemon-Rx, Orange, or Redcon DSMX receiver just fine, but then you would just be using their integral stabilizer or flight controllers, if equipped. The rest is exactly the same.
I've done a bunch of different receivers over the years, mostly, if not Spektrum, I've used Lemon-Rx 7 channel with stabilization.
3S UMX A10? Sick! Gettn it.
You will love it!!!
Nice video ...oh by the way blue herring
LOL ;)
Hello, I'm new to this. Can I use a Spektrum DXS transmitter with this A10? What do I need to just plug and fly the A10. Battery, charger, connectors. I would like quality equipment.
You can technically bind it, but if you're hooked, just get an NX8 or NX10 so you can get the most out of your flying experience.
There will be 10,000 more questions, so don't be shy ;) We're here to help and want to help, when we can!
Im buying now :)
AWESOME!
Nice looking A-10 and a very good power ;-) Question: I sent a query to Horizon Hobby about a month ago wanting to know if you can completely turn off the Gyro Stabilization and fly Full Manual Mode. I thought that was a simple yes / no question but they just send me a link to a video showing how to setup flight modes which didn't answer my question and didn't show how to completely turn off the Gyro. You fly a lot of Horizon Hobby Planes with the AS3X Gyro. Can you completely shutoff the Gyro, with a switch on the TX, so it's Full Manual Mode without having to Flash the Gyro? Thanks! See you in the Air!
Not without buying an AR637T AR631 AR8360T (and a few others) with FORWARD PROGRAMMING. The BNF planes don't give us the ability to shut off the STABILIZATION (AS3X) but they do let us choose if we want SAFE (auto-leveling).
For example, watch my FOX 3m video and you can see I have a STABILIZER OFF mode...for thermaling, but generally I fly with AS3X on. If you don't want it, it's WAY cheaper to buy the Rx'es without AS3X/SAFE.
@@BrianPhillipsRC Thanks for the info. I was afraid that was the case. Seems a pity not to include Full Manual Mode on a Gyro but it is what it is. It's a shame Horizon Hobby would not provide this information but thank you so much for doing so. See you in the Air!
The gutter is laying on the sidewalk, not safe.
Nice video and thanks for posting
LOL!!! Nice Greg ;)
