Thanks a lot for making the video. I did want to mention though that I have a 2015 Optima EX. And although the manual says it uses the same bulb as you show, the H11B, it actually uses an H7 bulb. Perhaps they changed it in the 2015 but never updated the owner's manual. - CORRECTION - I HAVE THE LX TRIM.
I have an LX and just realized mine's the H7 like yours. Weird.
thank you so much for leaving this comment. I bought the wrong bulb 3 times before seeing this comment and finally gettin the right one

@@jordanleffler6779 Actually, I just realized that mine is the LX too. It's the least expensive trim package.
It’s a little quirky especially if you have big hands but once your able to get a good look at it from above you see what you have to do and it’s pretty easy. Don’t give up. It’s very easy. I was able to do it without moving anything else in the car and and I have clubs for hands.
clubs lol
Thank you. Its the same set up for 2015 sportage. Took 2 minutes to change both sides after watching this.

Do not let the dealership or any auto shop tell you that you have to take the bumper off! I went to Auto Zone and the guy did it in less than 10 seconds, just like the guy in the video. Paid less than $20 for the bulb. - Driver side, 2015 Kia Optima EX

@@fabian911able good luck man, it’s right. I didn’t remove the whole bumper, just enough for me to squeeze the light out a little to get into the housing.

Note! when I changed my low beam lamp on the 2013 Kia Optima, to remove the lamp you need to turn it left (CCW) when standing at the rear of the light assembly opening. Turn away from the wire assy. I completed the lamp on the passenger side first after removing the windshield or coolant reservoir. This made it easier to access the bulb and understand the functionality of the replacement procedure. I also found when you replace either bulb the removal procedure was the same. Both bulbs twist left (CCW) to remove and to reinstall twist right (CW) when standing to the rear of the light assy. Adjusting the negative battery post was very helpful to gain better access to the driver side lamp. This may not be the same for all models but for my 2013 Kia Optima, it worked for me. Hopefully, the originator of this RUclips video will commit to concur for not. Use some common sense...
Hey, I know your comment is two months old, but I figured I'd ask hoping you'll respond. Was the coolant reservoir easy to remove? I just can't seem to get proper access to the passenger low beam.
@@gentle_j84 Yes as I remember, it was just two bolts easy to access on the top side of the assy.
Thank you! No one else was saying if they were facing the front of the car or bulb opening when they wrote turn left or right. It was really confusing.

For the passenger side take the bolts off the coolant reservoir and move it to the side. Then you'll have the room to change the bulb.
That's what I did too

For those reading this because their low beam projector lights are dim. On the models equipped with HID low beams many people have found the fault to be the reflective coating applied to the internal rear portion of the projector assembly has failed due to heat. Diagnostics would be in this order 1. Check your ground for solid contact. (Lights should brighten once grounded if not step #2)
2. Remove one of the HIDs and see if there is a grayish discoloration midway on the glass. If present try new HIDs as the old ones life is limited. If the light output is still dim, step #3.
3. Your reflective coating has likely failed and you’ll need to replace the whole light housing. These can be sourced through independent manufactures, some of which apparently have higher quality. (Do your research).
Thanks for the info! and for watching!

Yes, it’s a regular bulb
Hi I have a 2015 Optima and I was advised to get the H7 bulbs....
Tiffany Monson me too
Those are just more expensive bulbs that you don't need to buy.
Where those only for the high beams?
Did you notice a big difference with the blue colored light compared to the factory ones were they brighter
Joe graney not much difference.
How about adjusting the vertical.on the low beams for the 2015 kia optima ex? I've watched several videos where they just stick the screwdriver down in or the ratchet and turn it but where I look where they're turning there's no nut or screw there for the 2015?? Owners manual says consult dealership for adjustment (not helpful)

Awesome Video! I am struggling with the driver side. When you insert the bulb, which way do you turn for the connectors to attach?
The connectors attach vertically in the holder. So you should turn it counter-clockwise until it sits snug at 12 o'clock.

The turning off of the protective cap and the bulb...do you follow the righty tighty, lefty loosely rule? It appears that you are telling folks to turn to the right (as you are facing the front of the car), but then for other commenters you tell them it's the opposite on the other side of the car. Set us straight before more tempers flair and parts are busted.
Facing the car: rotate to the right to tighten . Rotate to the left to loosen.
If it's like a 2016, it's counterclockwise to remove, both for the cover and the bulb.
What is the white stick like for on the inside next to where you change other bulbs. We have 2012 optima sxt and i swear it had like small light bar below regular fa tory headlights but now they are out...local dealer dint know squat
That's a relatively new style of trim lighting(similar to halo lighting in bmws) that is commonly seen in top trim models of cars or luxury vehicles. They're predominantly seen in Audi and Lexus from what I can tell.
You can look up the part online via google or go to your local auto parts store and the rep will know what you're looking for.

-Were you able to replace it?
Help! Only my driver's side lights were out, but I wanted to replace all of them anyways. I did it, but now none of them will turn on! Could I have possibly break something important?
So are you saying its left to put bulb back in? I thought it was righty tighty lefty loosey. Maybe that's why I couldn't get it in correct, I was turning it in right.
Do we have the same thing but led? I have 2014 Kia Optima and I have been looking for the led bulb but can’t get one
My lights are d1s. Are those projector headlights or halogen?
I just replaced my driver side's bulb of my 2012 Optima over the weekend, and it worked fine for a couple of days but now it's out again. Any thoughts as to why? The warranty just ran out a few months ago, ugh
Todd H did you by any chance touch the bulb with your hands. The oil from your hands can cause the buld to mess up. Also, it could be a defective bulb so as long as you don't touch the bulb with your bare fingers try using a new bulb and if it goes out yet again it could be something with the wiring. Hopefully that isn't the case. Best of luck and let me know how it goes and thanks for watching
DrumanjiDrew Okay, I went and bought another bulb and installed it while being careful not to touch it. It's working, I hope it keeps doing so. Thanks for the advice and video as well.

Hey u can show abs sensor front driver side how replacing
I'll see what I can do.
Hey man, removing that protective cap... is there a Phillips head screw directly under it that needs to be removed first (2011) ? I can't get that cap off for the life of me
There shouldn't be a screw. Are you rotating the cap? After rotating you have to try and pull the cap away from the light bulb housing. Let me know how it goes.
Yes there is a Philips head screw holding the cap on at the bottom if you have the Halogens or high intensity. I found that out when I broke the driver's side off. The high intensity is a different and more expensive bulb than the regular ones. Cost me around $90 a bulb at AutoZone.
Kevin S. Yep makes sense cause I can't take mines off
Clarification. Halogens do not have the Philips screw, HID does. That's one way to tell if your car has HID or Halogen. Another way is the bulb itself. The HID has a square, boxy base, Halagens do not. The price difference between Halogens and HID is huge. I said around $90, but I found out that AutoZone and Advanced charge $99 for HID. They don't stock them on the shelf, you have to ask for the HID bulb.
Kevin S yeah... I have discovered a few things since posting. I missed that the SX had HID lights... PITA... I actually ordered a pair from Amazon that were fairly cheap. Get what u pay for, but I figure I'll risk $30 if they're crap- they're crap, and I have to pay for the expensive ones anyways. I'll let ya know how goes
Thank you!!
