New subscriber here. Great job on showing how. I am repairing a closet rod that failed and the metal brackets bent from weight but the shelf stayed in place. I will try to add a couple more brackets and make sure they are on studs with long screws. I won’t use anchors for this. I won’t even use anchors to hang a picture. Haha. Thanks again

I do have a question though if you might be able to answer :) Why the need for adding the 3/4 wood under the brackets if you’re screwing into the studs? Is a person safe to omit the wood if they found the stud? I’m trying to tackle a closet project myself, any advise is so appreciated! Thank you 🖤🖤
Hey Cassie, good question. Yes you can NOT add any wood to the project and it will be fine as long as you screw all brackets on to studs. Most closets have the horizontal piece of wood for two reasons. #1. It looks more professional. # 2. Extra support. You have to screw that horizontal piece of wood on every stud and the shelf is resting all along every point ,so it is stronger. Since we have that horizontal piece of wood, we have to add the vertical ones on every or some studs so the bracket rest just below the shelf. If we did not have that vertical piece the half lower bracket would have no support . Since the bracket has to be instal just below (touching the shelf)t. AGAIN, IF YOU D0NT WANT TO USE ANY WOOD IS FINE TOO, Remember, you want those closets as strong as they can be so they don't colapse . I guess it all depends what you are storing. @@alexthehandyman3494 awesome thank you Alex!! I ended up getting up two shelves + rods into the corner of a bedroom! I attached using 4 brackets into 4 studs plus two sockets into studs! There’s only about 12” space in between the brackets and then the ends are floating. I used the materials rated for “heavy duty.” So far so good!! Proud of myself for finishing the job and and thankful for your guidance!!
Hi again! I had so much success with my last project I came back to your video to tackle another one! I have another closet that I’m installing the horizontal board supports into the wall to then fit a shelf across! I was going to do floating (no bracket). I’m looking for studs, I’ve got 2 studs on the back wall, 2 studs on the left wall, but only one stud on the right wall. Should I substitute another hole (or 2) with anchors on the wall with only one stud? Or should I get a nail gun and do some nailing? Any help recommended thank you!! ❤❤
