Great video, gave me the confidence I needed to tackle this project. Cost me $147 in a replacement spring kit and took us about a hour to do the work. I counted the number of turns to remove the one spring that did not break, and it was 27. We 1st tried 29 turns but got an excessive effort alarm when trying to close the garage with the opener. We backed off 2 turns to 27 and everything works great. Thanks again Alex for this tutorial 🤙🏽

is using electrical tape wise? If it gets wet and starts to break off, won't it clog the pump impeller?

I’m dealing with having to replace this relic right now along with my 20 year old AC condenser. Same set up, no heating just AC. l’m getting quotes of $4k-$6 for the condenser plus another $$3k-$6k to change out the ceiling mounted fan coil. So far two quotes are $9.3k and $10k. Absolute insanity, I had no clue how much this type of set up costs. If you have this definitely keep up the maintenance because you’re on borrowed time and it’s gonna be a fortune to replace.

So you ran the evacuation pump with the hoses reversed? It pulled from the tank and spit it into the low side of the system? I’ve never seen that before. Well done. So you can pull down to 200 microns with just an evacuation pump? I saw a dedicated vacuum pump there. You didn’t use that? Why do most guys have both then? Did it just take longer? Thanks. i get an air bubble in my toilet during the flush. Alex, do I have to change the flush valve seal in order to get rid of that?

As a homeowner, it’s a lot of expensive stuff, even though I got my 608 certification so I can take care of my own two R22 old systems. Each appion is $70, the recovery machine is $500 to $1000, the scale, the recovery tank, the turbo torch and tanks, vacuum pump, even the large vacuum hoses are $60 each. Forget about something like a digital manifold. Big initial investment! That’s before the refrigerant! I spent almost $800 for 30# of R22. Thanks for sharing your knowledge- I should have gone into HVAC. I find it interesting. But you do it all.

i a certified electrician and engineer, a clogged filter will not raise the circuit load for the type of window unit in the video, the efficiency will be lowered but it will not "do more work" the thermostat will simply run the compressor longer (not harder)to achieve the same temperature

Good video. You charging with r22? With Goodmans, any length longer than 35ft I usually add a hard start to help the compressor.

My filter button won’t turn on.. idk how to get on I press the button but it won’t go back on. Do I need to press it for atleast 3 seconds?
