From my view, I own 24GM, 35mm f1.8 and 50GM, I just need my 35mm f1.8 sometimes when I think of the convenience. the pictures that I got from both 24 and 50 are incredible!!!
Good video, Oscar. I just got my A7 IV in December and also picked up the 24mm GM (thank you, Ben, at Samy’s Santa Ana for your help!). Love the lens! One suggestion for your videos-could you also show measurements in Imperial and not just Metric?
There is some still present, I find myself changing the focus area setting to help with this. Can't give you a specific setting as it all depends on what you are shooting. I suggest doing what I did and play around with subjects and focus area setting to see what works best for you. Hopefully this will be fixed in a firmware update from Sony in the future!
hi, I'm confused decided 24mm Vs. 35mm GM, Help me to choose one of them. I want wide angle but I don't really like distortion, due to I'm not a professional photograpgher I want advanced lens and has good autofocus. help me to choose :)
Focus breathing is something us hybrid shooters have to deal with constantly. Thanks to features like focus breathing compensation in Sony cameras, you can eliminate most of those effects.
I had the 35mm 1.8 and never felt it was wide enough, so I got the 24mm 1.4. And I like to mod fashion and portraits most. Very satisfied after a year
Thank you for sharing your experience with this lens, we definitely think its a great lens for environmental portraits or street photography.
Had a lot of fun making this, hope you guys like it!
24mm 1.4 GM because with apsc mode i have a 35mm :) just with one lens.
practically it's only a digital sensor zoom, it's not about changing prespective and also you have limits in recording in diff frames

You can crop to apcs mode with 24 mm and you have 35 mm more sharper then 35 1.8
I want to ask you about the 50 gm is it worth it for portrait!? I have the 55 1.8 but the 50 is in other level
35mm 1.4 its a great lens. Just perfect for all day pictures. Fast,Sharp, nice bokeh, and ofcourse light and small for a 35 1.4
Couldn't agree more!
What do you think about focus breathing on gm 35?
Brilliant photo and video comparisons for me to choose from as I take up a Sony A7R V for the first time and need a set of good primes.
Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!

Good choice, and thank you Roger! I'll also make it a point to include Imperial units in our videos from now on!
Who is the gorgeous model?🤩
Does the Fx3 fix the focus breathing issues on 35mm like the A1?

Capture whole scene = 24. Focus on sub/obj 35. Remember 24 = 35 apc and 35 = 50 apc.
35mm= 50mm AND wide lens👍🏻
Minimum focus breathing? That’s a bit generous lol.

What camera were you shooting with?
The stills were shot using the Sony A7R IV and A1, and video was shot using the Sony FX3 and Sony A1!
