I'm a fan of the well known athletes of this sport. But by far, my favorite stories are of the everyman athletes. Excellent video and congrats to Team Gunnar.
Man I never have commented on a video before but this had me in tears. Especially at the end when he says, "That was one of the only times I believed that I am loved" that hit deep. Congrats team
Congratulations Gunnar! How inspiring. I cried and laughed with you and the team like I was there. I just ran the 2023 10k and you’ve inspired me to want to consider trying to conquer this event. Thanks for putting yourself out there. Blessings to you, your wife and the amazing crew!
Glad I watched this. There is n.o.t.h.i.n.g. harder than getting caught out in a long distance race for a lot longer than you trained. Great crew, great vibe, great job.
This was an incredible documentary. I'm so pumped for you, Gunnar for going through your demons in the rain and that 1700 ft ascend after all that. Wow. Juan killed it with the documentary. Really fantastic all around.
Super job on the doc and of course, congrats to Gunnar. Had thought years ago I might do Leadville but never came close. Watching this, especially the ending had me in tears. Great stuff.
I'll be running Leadville next year and while I have camped there and ran/paced/hiked the majority of the course, it's videos like these that get me emotional and even more excited to experience 100 miles in Leadville. Awesome job Gunnar...
Finishing Leadville is in itself winning pushing yourself beyond what you thought you could is winning. Great job great team.. Colorado is my home and my love!!
First time commenting a YT video but this journey moved me beyond measures as a humble casual athlete. So happy for you to have achieved this with your loving crew! Mad Respect!
Just goes to show that when you have family, friends and a wife that truly loves you, anything is possible!! He doesn’t finish without these people around him! Awesome!! Loved this!!! ❤🏃🏽❤
Great job on the race and this great documentary. Phenomenal video. You had me sucked in the whole time. Already recommended it to all my ultra buddies. Thank you!
Amazing film. Awesome story. Legendary mindset. Inspiration to say the least! Love the feeling from this story. Congratulations, don’t have to know you to say, WELL DESERVING. Awesome dude.
Damn man. I am registered for this race this year, and this story really got me. I can see a lot of myself in you here and I see this story as something that could really come true for me in a few months. Nice job.
I ran old Dominion 100 as my first hundred this year with no support crew or pacers. It is humbling to take on a experience like that alone but I feel like I'd like to try a 100 with support crew to see if it's better. Your crew looked well prepared to give you all the support you needed
So powerful listening to Gunnar, Seth and Jenny narrate this great story of perseverance, adventure, commitment and love. Congratulations to Gunnar and his entire team, too.
Great little documentary…and congratulations! I can only dream about doing something like this one day but I hope I can.. the support was amazing, great job guys. I’ve never had friends like that, so I appreciate how awesome they are. Thanks for sharing this personal story, it was inspiring!..
Watching the joy that his friends and family experienced as he RAN across that line was the high point for me. Makes me pretty sure that this dude is a not just a tough competitor but more importantly a GOOD GUY!
Great video and thank you for sharing the experience with all of us! Indiana Trail 100 will be my first attempt at the distance this year. Hopefully Leadville one day 🤙
Thanks for this - makes me cry even when I watch others. I was with you - 29:42 this past year and 29:14 in 2019. This past year I was chasing cutoff's the entire way and of all my years running this was my greatest accomplishment. So excited for you!
So happy for you man this was amazing!! So inspiring man, I’m glad I found this when I did, I’m 3 weeks out from my first 100. It’s no Leadville but I’m taking my first step to get there. Also, it was super awesome to see you repping the BPN hat and ATREYU shoes!! You’re a beast!
Very nice story telling. I am running the Leadville 15 this July coming from Kansas City. Excited to experience it. How do you train for running 100 miles?
@@gunnarrogers181 I remember back in the 90s John Stamstead the World Class Ultra Cyclist was racing in the Coburn 101 He Crashed 20 Miles into the race and Broke his Collarbone and Raced the next 81 Miles with a Broken Collarbone
Leadville....the creepy...slummy town at 10,000 feet. ....talk about bad vibes....beautiful mountains....but there's something about that place that gives me the creeps !!!
Oh I’m crying! ❤
This was awesome

I’ve seen them play since way back when,
And they’ve always had the grit;
I’ve seen ‘em lose and I’ve seen ‘em win,
But I’ve never seen ‘em quit.
