Thank you all for watching this and supporting my channel! This trip was amazing, the Leadville 100 was spectacular, and I hope to have more opportunities to travel and document epic races!! Let me know if you'd like to chat about a future project, I'm always open to talk. Have a great day and get outside!
Just watched Leadville 100 another great insight into the world of ultra running loved working my way though all you videos hope to come over to the States one day and run an ultra 👍👏👏👏
Even though is video is from a while ago I just watched it and it’s so inspirational. I’m running Leadville this year coming from the Netherlands so the terrain couldn’t be more different. Love your music choice, do you have a Spotify playlist I can follow? Cheers.
watched Run Rabbit Run and now this.......i'm so hooked......i'm a Beast Coast trail hound living vicariously through your amazing videos.....going to get to all of them........superb stuff....you are so talented!!!!!
Great video! I was in Vail this summer and had the chance to go up to Leadville for a day. It awesome! I can't even imagine what the energy is like on race weekend.
Dude, that's an amazing video, nice job! I'll watch this vid for the rest of my life! An incredible experience, glad I got to share it with you and the IN crew. More to come.
This is a hell of of good video. I really enjoyed it. I can't believe you don't have more subscribers. I run half marathons and 10km races. I'd love (in theory!) to run Leadville but in reality I don't enjoy runs beyond about 30km. I have a lot of respect anyone who can finish (or pace) a race like this. All the best, mate..
@@RyanClaytonFilms No. I get it alright just think the above quote is a bit dramatic. If some unforeseen issue arises and DNF is required so be it and move on and prepare for the next meeting, that's all!
Thanks Ryan, I hope you know how much I appreciate your time, effort, and sacrifice while spending time with me on the trails in Leadville Awesome Video and so glad I reached out to you, very professional done. Mt. Massive was the best.
Ryan, awesome work out there, with both the camera and the support! Question for John... thinking back on it, what would you have done differently (that could’ve gotten you under the 30 hr mark)? I’ve entered the lottery and I’m already over-analyzing it before I’ve officially gotten in, lol
I’ll answer that, don’t eat the ramen!! 😂 John might have more to say, but he got sick off that and it took a while to sort out. I had about 10 cups of it so I don’t think it was spoiled, just didn’t sit well for John.
i like the fact that in this video, you've showed a little bit more terrain than other L100 videos. that one part with boulders looked alot like HR100. i cant wait for the day i run this.
Thank you! It's a lot of work lugging around even a little camera over those big mountains, glad you liked it! Good luck getting into this race and running it!
Yep, the light blue one is the bonatti, and the dark blue one I wear while running is Altra’s half zip jacket. I love them both and have worn them durning many races and training runs. Thanks for asking!
Great job filming and pacing. Being a flatlander like my self do you walk every hill or to use a guide of some kind. My next 50k has some very big climbs and I don’t walk all of them
Thanks!! I think it depends on the grade and length of the climb, if there is heat or humidity, and how competitive you are in the race. Personally, in ultras I will hike most climbs and then try to run hard down them, but that’s me and that advice might be bad for others! I am a pretty quick uphill hiker and can catch a lot of people. Then running downhill can burn up your quads also but I haven’t had that issue yet. If you want to get some data behind it, maybe use a heart rate strap and stay in a certain place, zone 3 for example, on the climbs and then try to recover on the downhill and flat parts. Training and race day should mimic each other, so go out and test what you’re thinking about doing. Hope that helps, let me know if you have other questions! 👍
Another great “story” video! I know it had to hurt not making the 30hr. cutoff, but he didn’t quit! 100miles!!! Awesome! Ryan, while running did you use a gimbal with your GoPro5 or selfie stick or just GoPro??
Thank you!! Yeah, he still finished, but knowing the finish line was literally around the corner as 30 hrs hit was tough. During training runs, I use the go pro gimbal but during races, just a minimal selfie stick. Thanks!
Your videos are awesome and really flying under the radar. Great job! If you ever want a podcast guest, be happy to be on the show. I've done a few podcasts (not in the running realm) and many ultras.
Some excellent footage and race coverage, however (and maybe billy yang has ruined me for running movies lol), but I feel like you missed an opportunity to tell your runner's story and really showcase his achievement and what he went through... Friendly feedback and GL with future vids and training :)) cheers
Thanks for the feedback! We discussed this being a doc style video about him and he wasn’t that interested, so it ended up being a vlog style video about me and my trip mostly. Storytelling is definitely where I want to focus though. I’m just about done with the video of my trip out to Colorado for Run Rabbit Run a few weeks ago. That one will definitely have more of a storyline. Hopefully you’ll like it, let me know what you think when I post it. Shooting for it to go up on Monday! Thanks for the comment and have a great day!
Did the runner that you were pacing finish in over 30 hours like 30:13 ? He shouldn’t be getting a finishers medal if he went over 30 hours, That diminishes the accomplishment
Leadville has different awards for different time limits. You have to finish in under 30 to get the buckle, but you get a medal if you finish in under 33 hours or something like that.

What a wonderful place to run.

Great video, Ryan. Really captured the spirit of an event many of us hope to take on one day. Tell John he's an absolute beast.

Not that I know of. But it is a lottery, so it might take a year or two before you get in.
