- In 2021, in his first 100-mile race, Adrian Macdonald won the Leadville 100. Known as one of America's most gruelling races, "The Race Across The Sky" takes athletes through the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Runners climb and descend 15,600 feet (4,800 m), with elevations ranging between 9,200-12,620 feet.
In 2021, Adrian clocked a time of 16:18:19 - the sixth-fastest in the race's 40-year history. In 2022 he was back to chase more glory and take a shot at the course record.

Imagine winning the Leadville 100 and thinking “I wonder if I belong” goes to show that no matter where we are on our own journey, our peers have the same self doubt and we can all overcome and continue to become better athletes and people. ❤️
👏 absolutely!
love to see ON getting into these pieces of content, centered around races/stories. I don't think I'm alone in the constant search for compelling stories around these ultra/endurance races!
We're glad that you're enjoying it, Fabian. Stay tuned for more! 🙌
@@On-Running Yeah, they don't make the documentary explicitly about the shoe, but of course it's still there. This is a tasteful and rich way to do it. Perhaps it shows what kind of company it is.
You 100% belong in this space! Your humility and confidence are inspiring. I look forward to following your 2023 race season.
This is such a good story. I have run with Adrian and Nick many times back when I lived in Fort Collins. So great to see Adrian succeed at this level. So happy for you dude!!!
This is such insanely good camera work!! So fun to watch!!!
2:32 Leadville is my home away from home, my favorite place in the mountains. I can't imagine my summers without it. And the race is a big part of that. Nailed it.
What a great story! I met Adrian briefly while on a local trail run the week before LV100. Great guy! Happy to see that he did so well at the race this year (again).
Great job Adrian and great job camera team and editors! I loved this
We're happy to hear you enjoyed watching this, Ryan! 🤩
Awesome video! Wild to see how fast you are. Your float pace is faster than I can hope to run
Fantastic!! Truly love this race. Congratulations.
Wow! This was amazing! Love it.
Amazing! Can't wait to watch Adrian continue to push limits. Great film.
Let's Go Adrian!
This is amazing!! Well done
Wow, great film, well done! I remember when there was no lottery for Leadville, just sign up and you're in. Not so easy to get into anymore... Awesome film
Times are changing for sure, but hopefully this means the amazing ultra community is continuing to grow each year! Cheers to the miles ahead. 💪
Great story, thanks for sharing.relaxed and confident, exciting to see what happens this year.
We are excited as you are, Adam! 👀
Loved the video. Didn't realize the elites had pacers carry their pack though...
What an amazing movie and amazing performance! It was impressive crossing Adrian going full blast down from Hope Pass!
We're super stoked you're as amazed about it as we are! 🔥
Awesome film! Well done!!
Just bought the CloudMonsters and now this comes up in my feed 😅
Did 20 miles in them straight out the box and they worked wonderfully ♥️
I just enjoyed watching him running in shorts and under green trees… already ready for winter to say adios!
Winter is fun and all, but we can't wait either for those Spring runs right around the corner! 🌤️
What great cinematography! 🫶
Godspeed Adrian. I was not drawn in the lottery this year but maybe sometime soon my number will be called.
Anton Krupicka: “I think the 100 mile distance is the only relevant distance in the sports the others just aren’t respected as much”
MOAB240: AM I A JOKE TO YOU
Hardcore my friends.
The dude. 3peat time baby.
Awesome effort wow
Awesome performance and video! I hope to see you on course blowing by me 😂
wonderfully shot video, he's so calm and dte. a new example for me personally. what is the watch he runs with?
What On Shoes did he race in? Sheesh I’m looking all over the internet for the Leadville winning shoes, there’s a whole dang documentary on it, and I still can’t find it.
Can pacers carry equipment for the runners? I didn’t realize that was a thing
At leadville pacers are allowed to mule or “burro” for their runners.
@@alextprice thanks for the info! That makes sense.
is Leadville the only major Ultra in the USA that allows pacers to act as burrows ?
3:22 kinda mad disrespectful lol
@15:56 that cat!!!
But can he do it on a rainy night in Stoke?
anyone know the shoe style/name @ 5:02?
This is the Cloudboom Echo! 😊
That’s pretty douchey and pretentious to say 100 miles is the only relevant distance in the sport. There’s different strokes for different folks, there are shorter races with more extreme terrain that he wouldn’t be able to compete against the the top people in that style, his chicken legs wouldn’t hold up. Cheers
yes - well said - I am surprised at Kupricka's arrogance
P.s Kupricka's time at UTMB was 45th in 2014....47th or 42nd of males - not exactly a stellar performance
@@amblincork It’s fine, to each their own. A performance is a performance, It’s just so off putting when people act exclusive, and define things as relevant or not. A 5k trail run us very relevant to many people.
@@Zach-ls1if Yes = I have had to go back to doing short road races such as 5 kms because I had lost so much by focussing on long distance - and my ' longest distance' is only 60 km so hardaly ranks at all as an ' ultra' now ! Though my ecuse for not doing 100 milers is I am 66 in two weeks ! LOL ! Trying to run 5 kms as fast as one can is really hard !
Anybody else hugely distracted by the cat-petting technique, or just me? ruclips.net/video/6O6REsOiTG8/видео.html
Support runners carrying your water for you! What? Surely that can’t be allowed.
How do you do this without headphones, just you and your thoughts? No way.
