  • As I mention in the video there seems to be a flat spot at the beginning of acceleration. The throttle response was lacking as well. Checking what the Throttle Position Sensor is reading can tell you whether the sensor is adjusted and working properly.
Commonly on older throttle bodies, the throttle plate can start to wear into the bore or the stop slightly changing the original position. If you are having some unknown issues that seem to be throttle related, give the TPS a check. You could very well find a few of your issues are related.
Thanks for watching! I would like to get a few more small things done on the Nissan before parking it for the winter. Then I can jump onto other things. STAY TUNED!

Excellent, you learn something new everyday. I think it is fair to say it has been the wettest summer where I live too so you are not alone.

Thanks for this video. Just ordered a ohm meter and will be adjusting my throttle position sensor on my 95 Lexus gs300 later this afternoon. Should I be looking for the same numbers in my car? 0.46 & 4.0?

The specs should be similar as most TPS sensors are in that range. The idle voltage setting is the most important and can usually be found with an easy search

Hey man would you be able to tell me what colour wires go into the 3 pin plug on the tps that you weren’t testing from ? I’ve got a loom with that plug cut off and just have the 3 wires coming out of the harness one wire is dark green/red the 2nd is light green/black with grey dot and 3rd is light green

I missed this comment somehow. If I get a chance this week I will try. Look for an ECU diagram for RB26 and the wiring should be the same as TPS-1 for the RB20 if I remember correctly

I have mine set up the exact same but my middle signal wire is reading 5v. Any ideas why it is stuck on the fully open position

DAN on MV I would guess that the sensor is shorted internally

Do you have a wire schematic for the rb20 to know what wires do what . I’m swapping a 280z plz thx

I had to work with the RB26DETT diagram for most of it. The diagram is almost exactly the same minus the second turbo electronics and MAF

Been trying to get my r32 rb20det tps to .48 but won’t move from .20 more or less. Bad sensor?

Bad adjustment, bad sensor, bad throttle body are all possible

You may need to check the output voltage range. Old TPS may not sweep low and high
