I taught my son that rich men drive old trucks. He bought one truck for $1,000, and one truck for $3,000. He does the maintenance and repairs. This has allowed him to purchase a 3 bedroom home with 2 acres and a 30 x 60 garage for a low price at age 22 as a Chili’s cook. He did it all on his own and established a great credit score.
That's awesome 😊
What a awesome job mom he is a son to be proud of
My husband and I drive beat up cars 2015 Toyotas. My cousin’s husband was bragging about his convertible car the other day. My cousin then asked me what kind of cars we drive, so I told her. She just stayed quiet and didn’t say anything. Sometimes it feels demeaning from others the fact that we remain simple. Not showing off your wealth with luxury and material things makes others look down on you. But it really takes a strong and self confident mind. That’s why I just love your videos so I can remind myself I am not alone and keep going.
If people bragged about their net worth it would really flip the tables.
The next time the cousin brags, a deserving come-back from you might be, "Fine, but is it paid for? We just hate debt."
How many trucks are there on the road that only drive back and forth to work but aren't being used enough to pay for their extreme expense and poor gas mileage? Probably at least 50%. Most have lots of maintenance that the average can't do. Then there is the cost of full coverage insurance plus registration. Pay cash for everything you can and save on high interest payments. Especially credit cards. Rewards don't make up even 10% of what running a balance costs you in the long run.
….You see the shiny new Tesla but you don’t see the empty Roth IRA.
A "beat up" 2015? My 2006 totalled car is still hobbling along. I love that car, even if I looks crooked from the rear end!
My motto is... The more you Have, the more you have to Maintain and I don't want to spend my life being a Maintenance Worker!
😏
When mom died 2 years ago brother and I cleaned up her place and I couldn't believe the amount of stuff she had. It took the longest time to get rid of the stuff she saved over the years. It was at that time that I changed how I lived. Material items just done mean anything to me anymore
“Coffee tables don’t reproduce and make side tables.” 😂 I wasn’t expecting that but it was priceless!
I no longer buy stuff, but I have all the wonderful things I've bought over my lifetime. Art, crystals, things that have meaning to me. When I downsized to a senior home, I left 1/3 of my belongings there to stage the home, and then to go on to I know not where, 1/3 was donated, and I kept the stuff that means something to me. I don't like to sell things because I know the actual cost, the sentimental value, the long-term value, and people only want to low ball you on stuff. I just give stuff away when I need to let something go. I don't feel cheated then. That makes me feel better about it.
“People who understand interest, earn interest. People who don’t understand interest, pay interest.”
Eight years ago, at the age of 56, I had to give up work due to a chronic medical condition. For the first year I was on government support then my partner moved in with me and I could no longer claim support. He doesn’t support me, but those are the rules. Thank goodness I had substantial savings from having downsized a couple of times, because I’ve had to use that money to support myself over these past 8 years, until I turn 65 next year. Family used to question why I didn’t use some of that money to travel or buy new cars etc. I’m so glad now that I didn’t buy more stuff with it. Having savings has enabled me to live a comfortable (if somewhat restrained) life, without having to work.
I’ve always thought this information needs to be taught in high school. Compound interest, budgeting, saving etc. Many don’t realize that they just worked for four hours to buy that new lamp.
I like to be frugal but I do enjoy a well decorated home. I am a homemaker and I like the house to feel homey.
...EXACTLY. I DO NOT " thrive " in a Minimalist Environment....and if one has children... neither do children.
@@texasstardust6010 one can thrive. People just use that excuse to buy more stuff they don’t need:
Having a house or apartment cluttered with junk makes the brain cluttered also. It's literally an energy killer.
I love your house so clean . Not crap everywhere.
I bought my house 11 years ago. The only stuff I bought was an expensive couch, TV and stand and barstools😂. Everything else is hand me downs😊. I have spent on the house itself but stuff😂. I even sleep on a 15 year old matteress without any issues. Best thing is waking up in the morning without an alarm and laying there as long as I want before getting up.
Your house looks lovely. Your lifestyle is very appealing and sensible. You’re a great role model!
I don’t like clutter; it stresses me out because it looks chaotic and is more stuff to clean. Your home looks like it’s easier to keep clean but with just enough furniture to make it cozy.
You're an inspiration even at my age of 75!
I love the way your home looks. Nice and neat and not cluttered ❤😍
Keep the oak table. Companies make junk furniture.
Why I keep the money instead of spending it is because I like the OPTION. Having the OPTION is worth everything.
I am a minimalist also and I don't choose money over things, I just don't want things to clean, walk around, worry about it staying nice. I just can'[t stand knick knacks sitting around, they get dusty so bad & just within days! I'm 81 and I don't think the end is right around the corner, but I just don't want stuff!!!! I also will not have a saving past just enough for a few months sustainable. I don't intend to leave anyone anything. It would be different if my two children spent time with me, but they don't & of course, it's my fault because they don't!!!!! I just don't want a lot for my niese to do to clean up my stuff when I am gone.
Me too, I would rather have cash than stuff or things. It takes less space to have money
and less cleaning plus peace of mind without stress and hardship with money in the bank.
What a unicorn you are. Most people want to compound their life in a way that makes it more complicated and more stressful. You show how you can compound security and serenity. Great stuff Prepper Princess.
Hi Prepper Princess, I just paid off my 2019 Murano today! Wanted to let you know the good news! My car runs great too! In these difficult times we need to save as much as possible. Have a nice day.
Money creates more money. Money buys you freedom
If I paid $100 for a coffee table, it better be making the coffee.
😂😂😂
😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Over time, learning I actually WANT less "stuff" has been life changing:) And the benefits are endless... :)
Same here.
Some stuff is nice, but too much begins to clutter your mind. And feels like it ties you down.
I need to watch this video everyday to remind myself i don't need "stuff" !! I am a victim of the yankee candles omg hundreds of dollars literally burnt up. Love your perspective
I’m becoming more of a minimalist
Same here
I think everyone is gonna be forced to. Can’t merc someone over a Rolex if no one has a Rolex. Problem I have is it’s my choice to not have one. But getting rid of envy by force essentially is not the answer. And if someone chooses to get a high end watch. The opportunity or availability should also be there for them. BAN CRIMINALS NOT OBJECTS
I love your channel! You inspired me to continue living as a minimalist and to become more frugal for life. 🎉
I have plenty enough to dust... I am not PAYING for things to dust. That is just bonkers. I am still loving how open your livingroom and dining room are now. Taking out the craftsmans columns and raising the roof was so smart. I bet it was complicated as all get go.Matching up floors... unexpected things in the roof you tore down... could be structual, air ducts or electrical stuff. You are a brave soul. I love that BIG tv. I hope you are enjoying your new space so much more than us veiwers enjoy watching it... because you live there and paid the bucks to make it happen.
I am going through my Condo to download things that don't have a reason to keep. I don't use most of the items I have.
To much stuff make way to much Clutter and can give you Anxiety !!!
Very true
Pepper Princess, I Love you!!! This video is what I needed to get rid of stuff! I feel I am a hoarder and if I could sell my stuff I would be better off financially. Thanks for this needed video to hit me in my head. Thank you again!
I totally agree with you. Money provides you with security and freedom, but having too much stuff only complicates your life. Everything you own requires care and maintenance so don’t become a slave to your things. Just keep it simple. 😊
Always live below your means, not above 🌷
Amen 🙏🏽
Self-control and ignoring the bombardment of consumerism is key. And you are a dog shield. Super cute. And, yes, we like you. :-)
Thank you Love your videos. It's like having a sister with great advice.
Coffee table doesn't reproduce side tables 😂 lol. This is so funny
We don’t just like you, Prepper princess, we love you!!! Thanks for teaching us how to live better lives.
Yes...we like you. 😊 We looked at a new truck today...and....that's not going to happen! We are going to paint the inside of our house this week and we will be doing "another" sorting of our stuff. We usually do this sorting once a year. We are retired and planning on aging in place just as long as possible. We feel it will be easier to age in place with a simple lifestyle. We love retirement and enjoying our simple life. 71 & 74 years old here. Our truck is a 2005 F150 with 170,000 miles and we still enjoy tailgate picnics a couple times a week at the local state park. Life is Good!
Wow the ceiling looks amazing and I love the columns out. It looks so big and clean. :)
So many people told me to leave the columns. It is sooooo much better without them
@@PrepperPrincess I agree, great choice absolutely love it.
I thought id miss the colmns...but i dont. Room looks much bigger!
I agree! Looks really nice!
You have a lovely home ❤️ “ Do what you can with whatcha got! “ great comment to remember
I'm in the moderate camp. I like some things. Minimalism feels sterile and boring to me. On the flip side I know literal hoarders. So my debt free self doesn't feel so bad about buying a movie or game or piece of art from time to time.
Excellent points! I would add that as a very visual person, clutter makes me anxious. I just can't stand seeing piles of "stuff".
I dunno---I think you have enough "stuff" to live a comfortable life, Prepper Princess! In my opinion, you have EVERYTHING a person can possibly need! Less clean-up too! Love it!
I just used interest off an account to help a blind and deaf cat I pulled from a Shelter to have surgery to restore eyesight. Its not cheap.
Note that those viewers of this video who are parents....this kind of extreme minimalism is not adviseable. It can work well for those who live on their own with only their own personal concerns to take into consideration. Remember Marie Condo, who was a great fan of minimalism? Even Marie had to rethink her advice once she started having children. Don´t deprive children of the joy of having cherished possessions, whether they are collecting dust or otherwise. Peace from Canada. Thank you Prepper P for your example of personal discipline. By the way, I heard that Russell Brand is getting baptised this weekend.
...THANK YOU. People need to see this side of the Equation. ( I have my own Comment hete, regarding all this " Minimalist " stuff.....).
Always such great advice, thank you Princess. I also want to say how precious Rocky looks. Nala has turned him into a puppy all over again. They are both precious. Blessings to you all. xx
You, your videos and your animals are always helpful and a pleasure to watch especially at 4 am! You make sense and you contribute! Aussie Lady!
I see you removed the posts. I thought they gave the craftsman house character. But i see how much it opened up the house!!! It looks gorgeous and I’m sure the house still has a lot of the craftsman style character
Yes - I like you! You are amazing and I love your self-control. When I want to buy another article of clothing I watch you so I can NOT spend the money I really want to keep. Thank you!
Yes. We do like you! Yes you are a good teacher! I try, but I find it very hard to part with stuff. All my stuff is really old, as am I, but no I never buy stuff now. ( I am emotionally attached to my old stuff, and cannot free myself of all of it!) Cheers Prepper Princess!
I am getting houseplants that are supposed to help with air quality. I finally found an airplane plant and paid $20 which seems like a lot to me but just divided it which it needed badly and got 5 plants from the one terribly crowded one. I can sell the other four for at least $10 each. I did buy a bag of potting soil and cheap pots but it would still pay for my plant plus some. I am going to divide my mother-in-law tongue plants and probably will get quite a few extras.
If I want different furniture, I sell what i have and use only that amount for what i want. It usually works out.
I still enjoy your videos! I have stopped watching certain other frugal RUclips channels because as they get more popular, I find that their lifestyle changes too much for me to continue relating to them. So glad you’re keeping your content relatable to us average Joes. 😊
Money are to buy freedom. E.g. to left job youhate, use dentist of your choice, get retired early...
I look at people with tons of tattoos and think "I wonder how much all that costs?" It's sometimes interesting to look at but sure costs $$$.
I wonder the same!
Tattoos are not my thing... but if they were, I wouldn't take my chances with cheap ones. LoL
Everything costs money. Some choose to spend on tattoos, some don’t. We shouldn’t judge how other people spend their money unless it affects us personally.
Great video, as always!😊
“Coffee tables don’t reproduce to make end tables”.. lol. In our house it does. I am so very fortunate to have a super handy husband. We haven’t bought much through the years, because people always ask us first if we want something, & most of the time we take it. We will repurpose stuff till we no longer can. We have turned a sofa into a love seat, a bookcase into a coffee table, etc. The list is endless. Our bedroom set is 44 years old. We just change the look by painting & using different knobs on the dresser. I can care less if it’s out of style.
Love your house!
I got mine for 50.00 dollars , 2 pier one coffee tables! A lady was moving and originally they were over 500 for both ..
Very nice glass coffee tables..
This is the way I see it; I have money and I don't want a bigger house nor a brand new car or suv, I don't want any more stuff. I want peace of mind and I want time, and guess what? once you have money time and peace do not cost you a lot and if I ever want anything, well... I have the money to buy whatever. 😎
Financial advice=never get married without a pre-nup.
I love your videos ❤ I payed off my car last year and I will drive that baby until it falls apart or is more expensive to repair than to sell. I am also currently Selling of all the stuff I had in my attic storage, clothes, toys, interior decor and so on. It is a really nice feeling to get rid of stuff. The stuff I sell now is going to pay for three of my kids birthdays in June. Inflation is killing almost all single moms here right now so I have to get creative. I have also bout or got furniture for free that I restore and sell at a profit. You can do a lot of extra stuff to make money outside your 9-5 (or 8-5 in my case) and as a single income houshold with a $1700 rent and racing food costs, it has to be done right now. My kids will eat well and I eat their leftovers. I am not a foodie so I really do’nt mind this and I lost 20lbs so it is a win for me in that way 😂 keep making these inspirational vidoes ❤❤❤
Coffee tables do not product side tables...i love it!
Prepper Princess I would not want you to see my house and all the stuff, but that being said I am sick of all the stuff and am working on letting go of stuff. The stuff is giving me so much anxiety I want to get rid of 50% of it. I am disabled and it is just in the way but it is hard to let go of some stuff but I am letting go of stuff little by little. Thanks for all you do and yes we like you! I love your cooking shows and seeing how you save on groceries. You are a very smart lady. I love learning from you. Thanks!
Me too
Me three. I have to say I've let go of people easier, but my furniture and knick knacks never gossiped about me behind my back. Or my mom's old clothes. But enough is enough.
For the past 8 years, every time I go to my in-laws (which is about twice a month) they are ALWAYS upgrading, replacing or buying something, whether it's the living room carpet, bathroom wallpaper, hot tub-it just never ends. And their home is SO cluttered with stuff that you don't even notice the changes! I can't help but think of all the money they have wasted.
The American dream😂
Money is just paper when nothing backs it. Some stuff helps can or dry food, helps make clothes, helps fertilize or dig a garden.
I love the comment that money buys freedom. I like having stuff that has practical uses. You make me feel like downsizing. A side bonus will be that it will be easier to find things.
Man I will give up everything before I have to get rid of my side tables and lamps. Indirect light is so cozy 💕 IMO ppl spend a lot on furniture and decor when light is the most important factor in how a room feels. Lol otherwise great video Prepper Princess.
It's so refreshing to find someone my same age with whom I share all of the same values! It's rare these days! Consumerism has gotten out of hand!
I just love your house!!
Dont you go anywhere. I've learned alot from you.
The less stuff in your home, the bigger it looks. I hate going in cluttered homes. It stresses me out. I went through my clothes and weeded out 8 items I wont miss. No mortgage. No other bills. I like you PP. No $50,000 trucks. All second hand. Your boy acts like my girl.
If the dog crate doesn’t sell you can donate it to animal shelter they accept those and so do most Petco stores for their adoption center I donated mine to them when my dog grew out of it
I drive a 2011 Toyota with 250,000 miles with no plans to get a new car.
Wow, that's new. Mine is a 2004! 😉 But it does have under 60,000 on the clock. Stay home a lot, had the car over 10 years.
That mileage is really impressive. I have the same year but only 120k miles. I'm happy to hear that they can last that long.
@@OtakuTeaTime22 Yes, they can. Plenty of TLC and regular servicing. been in the family since nearly new. It's a keeper. 🙂
I just decorate with my kids art, a few family photos & gifted plants. I rotate it to avoid too much clutter. Costs almost nothing & means everything to me.
We drive 2010 and 2009 toyota prius cars, which ended up costing us $1200 total.
The 09 has over 300,000 miles and gets 45 mpg. Our adult kids laugh and tease about it being a prius, but I thoroughly appreciate the fuel economy!
That's no typo on the total cost. The 09 was totaled by deer, and insurance covered it. Husband replaced hood, fender, light and we bought the 2010. The insurance paid us more than we originally paid for the 09 and brought total cost out of pocket for both to $1200!!!
I have a 2011 Prius. They might get some haters but are really nice cars at the end of the day
Like you? We ADORE you!
I like decorating with pretty things but they are things that I've inherited, given or bought dirt cheap. I change it around every season, place in different rooms, in different spots so it always looks different. I can have a pretty house and it doesn't cost me a dime. Not cluttered, just enough, for me.😊
Your house always looks nice. I use my end tables for lamps cause I cannot stand the light on the fan😂
Not sure of origins, but there's a quote I often repeat to myself: " You're rich in what you don't own."
There is money. There is things. I add one more: relationships. I really like the way you get along with your dogs. :)
“Money multiplies.” Let that sink in. Another good one!
Hi Princess!!! I've been a minimalist for about 6 yrs. and I love it. Less stress.
Love your doggies!!❤❤❤
You're just making the best videos❤
Money doesn't grow on trees, money grows on money.
I love your videos. I was taught nothing about money from my parents. I tune in to hear you remind me that owning things is not important. I have to hear it over and over again, so I appreciate you very much.
You don't own stuff, stuff owns you.
Big time, you're right!!!
The lessons you share are priceless. Those wise enough to listen are doubly blessed.
I have always loved to decorate, it was cozy and it made my eyes happy. But from now on, I'm going to fluff my savings for peace of mind and make my heart happy. I so appreciate this video, I need to remind myself of this daily. ☀🏡🌳
When I was single, this is how I lived. Being married, seems to be quite impossible unless you find somebody like yourself.
Being married will definitely change things. I've always managed my money well. My husband has not and he is now trying to get himself in a better financial position. He takes my advice, but he has fumbled a few times. It's frustrating dealing with someone that hasn't lived that life and has to catch up. The guys I work with constantly complain about how their wives just spend. It's definitely important to be with someone that's on the same page.
Rocky and Nala are too stinking cute!!
I have learned more from u then I have anybody else in my life. Thank you, I appreciate all you do. Please never stop teaching us. U make me look at things differently. And u look great.
I like having a small home and a cabin in the mountains. But at 57 thr years are flying by. So I will pay for fantastic travel,, when I feel like it. If I die broke, I’ve done well. As taxes continue to rise and rise, any savings can be confiscated this way. Silver, cash? Of course. But TIME is THE most precious commodity we have. People with kids want to leave a legacy. Of course. But like you, we’re not parents. So we are not responsible for that. We pay our taxes and enjoy. My sister became an extreme minimalist and got judgy so I don’t have her over. My beautiful photos of adventures met her criticism as well. Sometimes those of us wo kids get guilted into being overly generous as though we need to make up for something. Nah
Oh. Reno is done. Nice. I moved from an apartment 900 sq ft to a 1000 sq ft house and I am going through downsizing. I consider myself as a minimalist so I moved everything but the large items in my car. Even though I know I don’t have much, I became annoyed with my stuff. 😅 I said that I need to be more like Prepper.
I LOVE your reminders to stay on track and save!!!! Thank you for your wisdom from experience!!
I love your dogs!
I love your videos! I only discovered you like 3 months ago but I watch you every day and can't get enough tips for saving money! 😊 It seems like you post daily, I don't know, but every time I open RUclips a new video of yours pops up so yeah, pretty much watching you daily! 😌
We live well enough and below our means and choose time ver earning money. We have more than enough stuff and certainly don’t need anything else.
Our bills are 8 percent of our income. It’s very freeing
excellent. u are doing lots right👍

Money are the best .
Your radical simplicity is so inspiring
Money is security. I have moved quickly a few times with three kids a husband and six animals. the less decor the better. I grew up taking good care of my stuff because we didnt have a lot of money . xo Be well from Canada
