@@user-wq3ty4uj1p True, but one has to remember that even as recent as the 70’s women still did not have the same rights as men. My Mom could not even have her own checking account or credit card to establish a credit rating. We definitely didn’t have equal pay as exhibited by Suzanne’s story with Three’s Company. Fighting for equal right does not mean we don’t support the men we love. I believe women have always fought for their sons and husbands and men in general. We just finally realized we deserved the same opportunities and the same consideration when we pursue them. We aren’t trying to demonize men and declare them are enemy. It just we want the same chance to survive and thrive like everyone else and even better pursue our dreams. Family I still believe is at the top of the list and to truly succeed as a great parent means loving your sons and your daughters and not fostering hate. Women are great at this.

Yes, I got her newsletter for a while, she was very health oriented. No telling what people died of these days. Or maybe it's always been a secretive subject.
If she didn't take chemo, maybe there's a reason. I had a relative go the other way, she saw her mom die of cancer. She was in her 80s, her husband had passed away a few years before. Doctor found a small tumor on her breast that might have been benign, but because of her fear of cancer she told him to go a radical mastectomy. Her 80+ year old body couldn't take that, she had heart problems too. Maybe she would not have survived chemo if it came to that.

She had such a cheerful, unaffected, yet serious perspective and confidence, or perhaps self awareness, that she put you at ease.
I found her and her husband Alan's instagram account about a year before she passed, and signed up for their live broadcasts. Loved the relationship they have - so vibrant and non-judgmental. The whole experience was even more familiar feeling as I had started working part time in Palm Springs and staying in Cathedral city. So they were just around the corner somewhere as I watched. I had just really started to get to know her and was not expecting the sad news. For Suzanne, 77 is young, and as the saying goes, "The good die young". I loved every actor and actress that was ever on Three’s Company they were all quite important to how the show played out and the comedy that involved all of them living together but to me personally Jack Tripper ( John Ritter ) was clearly the lead role and by far one of the funniest people to ever appear on TV any year ! ( anyone else is free to think whatever they want) As good as everyone was in their respective roles and I would never take anything away from any of them Jack was the King 👑 I watched it almost every day growing up! I always found John Ritter and his slapstick style comedy to be a million times more funny than Bill Cosby ever was. I still watch Three’s Company sometimes even all these years later because I just love the way they all acted together… they were the perfect cast for a show like that ! 👍🏻 the girls definitely did deserve more ca$h than $30g though at least half of what John was making per episode etc. I’m sure the studio raked huge money off that show it was on forever and then reruns forever after that ! I wish John Ritter would have been cast in a lot more big Hollywood movie roles after Three’s company, Yes I know about Sling Blade and he was excellent in that ! ( So was Dwight Yoakum ! That was unexpected! 😄) So was everyone involved in that movie! Thanks for casting him Billy Bob Thornton! I love ❤️ that movie 🍿 🎥 ! It was great for the world to see he wasn’t just a one trick pony! I do confess to wanting to see him do more comedy roles as he was so damn good at it that I always wanted more of that. Seeing him do odd roles was equally as interesting in a different way.

Suzanne was just short of 10 years older than I was, and I saw her first in her role in American Graffiti. Everyone thought she was a knockout babe, of course. Then came her role as Chrissy in Three’s Company which made her so famous. After her breakup with ABC, she was touring county fairs as a singer/performer. She did a show in my local county fair, for which my dad contracted and conducted the band (local professionals, all fine musicians) and hired me to help him set up for the band and do their payroll. They did a rehearsal with Suzanne’s musical director, then two shows with Suzanne. So I was backstage during all of this and briefly met Suzanne and observed her interactions with her husband Alan and their young son who came with them. She worked hard, loved her husband and son, and put on two great shows of singing and choreography with multiple costume changes, all of which the fair goers loved. She was not a dumb blonde like Chrissy by any means, and she was still a bombshell of a babe. My dad had done many shows of this sort over the years, conducting bands for Bob Hope, Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Doc Severinson, Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis, and so many, many more. I met some of them, saw how they all did their work and what kind of people they were by how they treated those around them. Suzanne Somers was a solid professional and a good person from what I saw and heard. It is sad she was treated shabbily by some in her business, and even more sad how she was treated by her alcoholic father. That did not seem to follow her in her own family relationships. I remember her telling one of her dancers how proud she was of her young son earning money of his own rather than depending on his parents for money, so it sounded like she was teaching him some work ethics as well. The fact she brought family with her was very unusual; I can’t remember ever seeing any other star do that, but Suzanne did. Impressive. So sad that she had so many medical problems over the years and finally succumbed too early to one of them. She left a good impression on me, and I hope this small vignette of her leaves you the same.
