    Two to three years old is that age when children tend to wander off and get lost. Most of the time, when you hear news stories about polife looking for a lost child, they seem to be around that age.
    Dont be too quick to condemn this poor lady. Most Moms have been in a similar situation. Mine was three when she had somehow figured out how to unlock the front door and wandered outside, while I was in the bathroom. It was less than a few minutes of my leaving her watching Elmo so I could pee, and she was GONE.
    Thank God our dog at the time was used to playing "hide and seek" with my daughter, and was smart enough to know the child did not belong outside on her own.
    My instinct was to run up and down the street, but I told the dog to "Go find her!" and the dog put her nose to the ground. A minute later, the dog led me to the little girl, who was across the field out back, picking daisies at the edge of a neighbor's new COY POND-- standing on the slippery unsecured decorative stones. She could have fallen in at any moment, except that our dog found her right away.
    That dog ate like a queen that night, and for some nights thereafter, and got SO MANY hugs from us all.

      Ok I’m so sorry that happened to you. But even that was preventable. Child locks? Hello??? Like why have a child if you clearly have not prepared yourself/your lifestyle to do so. Idk this lady in this video just actually pissed me off, I would have been seriously questioning how/in what scenario that could have ever gotten to that point with a child you know is not fully capable of knowing right from wrong/what’s dangerous and what’s not. Especially when people keep reiterating children just wander off; so you know they do it… and still do nothing to prevent it?!?!?!? Make it make sense.
      We had a little autistic boy drown nearby because of the same thing. He “just always wandered off” and was DRAWN TO WATER!!! with a river in their backyard. Are you kidding me??? They were ASKING for that to happen!!! It’s so beyond infuriating!! Stop making excuses for your Stupidity and carelessness, you have every single tool known to man available to succeed as a parent. parents are supposed to advocate for kids!!
      Like, Just say that you didn’t want to take the time to care in that moment. I don’t even have children and even I know better from my experience as a PCA. I NEVER EVER EVER let them out of my sight. UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE! They went to the bathroom with ME! If I’m outside so are they and vice verse. I’m not outside if I cannot confidently and safely secure them out with me (ex a fenced in yard) I’ll just have to wait until some help is here so I can. I got leash backpacks for outings in crowds. Shit, it’s the same as getting a puppy. It’s hard to wrap your life around them but that’s what you signed up for. Smh. I’m like actually ragingggg inside right now I’m gonna have to log off.

      @hotbluflame2933 Год назад +10

      @@Lauren-vd4qe but this kid wandered. And that’s what kids do (especially toddlers) - they can get away from an adult in less than 10 seconds. It’s why we have fences around pools - because sadly we know kids that age can slip away and drown before anyone notices. So all these comments blaming the mother are illustrating how ignorant people are of just how easy it is for a toddler to go missing.

      @@hotbluflame2933 oh im aware of this, BUT the mom NEEDS to TEACH the kid NOT to wander, she NEEDS to keep an EYE on him in a dangerous area like a train platform; and she NEEDS to harness him and secure the leash to her belt if she cant/wont/chooses not to hold onto his hand. thats the bottom line. thats what i did when mine was a toddler.

    All the people criticizing the mom for "failing" her child obviously know nothing about children. Unless you glue your child to your forehead, you can't 100% guarantee that they won't sometimes slip away from you.

    • @PowerDiva
      @PowerDiva Год назад +3

      They know nothing about this case either. We weren't told what exactly happened, people are just making assumptions.... and its interesting that the automatic Go To is that the mom did something wrong. Kids can be quick and it only takes a second for them to dart out of sight.
      And saying 'well teach them not to' is a useless reply. That doesn't work on every child, particularly if you have one with special needs.

      Having a kid is a responsibility, and if you can’t watch your kid than you have no business having one. Its not a lifetime chore, the first few years are critical. But the fact she made no attempt dialing 911 or getting down to the tracks and took her an hour to get to the stopped train it’s too many red flags, maybe she wanted him gone.

      @dliguori25 It doesn't mean that at all. I know in playgrounds there are tons of kids. I believe I know which park this is as I am from the area. Popular park with sensory activities for kids on the spectrum. It is also very grassy and wooded. Doesn't make her a bad parent. My kids are grown now but they have wandered at the park. Heck, after Mass on Sunday lots of kids take off and roam the grounds without parental supervision. Some very young but I wouldn't chastise parents for not watching their kids. That is not my place and neither is it anybody's place to do so.

    the mother NEEDS to teach/enforce the child to NOT walk away!! ive seen SO MANY kids alone in stores with NO adult !! when my toddler started to walk and we went on walks etc, i put a little harness on him with a connecting strap; you can hook them to your belt if you want to. it prevents the kid from going onto the road. when i went shopping he sat in the cart OR if he wanted to walk along in the store, he HAD to keep ONE HAND ON the cart, NO exceptions. if he took his hand OFF the cart, he then lost the privilege of being out of the cart. im thinking this kid has been allowed to wander off on a regular basis.

      Parents don't leash their kids in Westchester County. If they did, CPS would be called on them. Putting a leash on a child with autism who has sensory issues to begin with is not a good idea. Do you understand the different aspects of autism? Your way of parenting is not for everybody.
